Israeli Media: 31 Soldiers killed by ‘Friendly Fire' in Gaza offensive
Israeli Army Radio revealed Friday that 72 Israeli soldiers have been killed in 'operational incidents' since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 27, 2023, including 31 deaths from friendly fire.
According to the report:
'A total of 72 soldiers were killed in operational accidents in Gaza, representing 16% of the 440 soldiers killed in ground operations since the offensive began.'
The term 'operational incidents' refers to a variety of non-combat fatalities, including:
Friendly fire incidents (31 deaths)
Ammunition and weapons accidents (23 deaths)
Armored vehicle runovers (7 deaths)
Shooting incidents (6 deaths)
The radio report also noted that:
Since the resumption of the Gaza offensive on March 18, two Israeli soldiers have died in operational accidents out of a total of 32 deaths in that period — about 6% of those killed.
It added that five soldiers were killed in work-related accidents, including falls from height and mishaps involving engineering equipment — one such incident occurred just last night, though no further details were provided.
According to official figures published on the Israeli army's website:
These statistics highlight a significant toll within the ranks of the Israeli military, not only from combat but also due to internal operational failures during the ongoing war in Gaza.

Houthi Rebels Attack Commercial Vessel with Light Weapons in Red Sea
Aden — A commercial cargo ship navigating the southern Red Sea came under attack today by Houthi militants using light weapons, according to UKTMO. The incident occurred near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a strategic chokepoint for global trade, amid rising tensions in the region. Sources close to the shipping industry confirmed that the vessel sustained minor damage but was able to continue its journey after evasive maneuvers and assistance from nearby naval forces. No casualties have been reported, and the crew is said to be safe. This marks the latest in a series of maritime disruptions attributed to the Iran-backed Houthi movement, which has intensified its campaign against vessels perceived to have Western or Israeli affiliations. International maritime authorities have issued fresh advisories urging vessels to avoid the area or travel under naval escort. The attack comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions following recent U.S. airstrikes in Iran, which the Houthis have vowed to retaliate against by targeting Red Sea shipping lanes.

Protesters gathered at the iconic Place de la République, waving Palestinian flags, before marching toward Place de la Bastille, according to Anadolu Agency. Chants echoed throughout the march, calling for an immediate halt to what participants described as the genocide perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Several demonstrators were seen wearing accessories and bags marked with the watermelon symbol—now widely recognized as an emblem of solidarity with Palestine. One participant wore a sign that read, 'I dream of seeing a free Palestine one day,' while another held a small doll covered in red, wrapped in a shroud—symbolizing the children killed by Israeli fire in Gaza.
