
TGCHE aligns curriculum revision with UGC guidelines, NEP 2020 vision
He said on Thursday, that this forward-thinking exercise underscores TGCHE's commitment to modern education in the 21st century through digital learning, skill enhancement and holistic development.
The TGCHE Chairman said, 'We are in full conformity with the UGC's vision for curriculum modernisation.
I am pleased to share that TGCHE has taken the lead in revising UG courses to integrate emerging trends in skill development, multidisciplinary learning, and experiential education, as outlined in the NEP 2020.' Further, efforts are focused on reducing content overload while embedding critical thinking, creativity, and industry-relevant competencies.
The revised curriculum will incorporate key UGC frameworks, including the National Credit Framework (NCrF), apprenticeship-linked degree programmes, short-term skill modules, multiple exit and entry options and digital pedagogy. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academia and dynamic societal needs, ensuring students are future-ready. Prof Balakista Reddy The ongoing dialogue with Vice-Chancellors, academic institutions, industry partners, and students, along with various committees, has enabled the TGCHE to initiate efforts to advance higher education in the state.
This timely action reflects TGCHE's commitment to aligning higher education with global standards. Earlier, the UGC issued a directive urging all Indian universities to conduct a comprehensive revision of their academic curricula in line with the transformative goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

NU to present lifetime achievement award to Datta Meghe
Nagpur: The Nagpur University will confer lifetime achievement award on veteran politician Datta Meghe during its 102nd Foundation Day on Monday. Skill-based education need of the hour: Prof. Thimmana Gowda
Former Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University B. Thimmana Gowda has said that skill-based education has become need of the hour for the present day students, and emphasised the need to provide professional and skill-oriented education. Delivering the Dr D.C. Pavate Memorial Foundation Lecture on 'Transformation in Higher Education' in Karnatak University on Saturday, Prof. Gowda said that there had been a paradigm shift in education, from the traditional Gurukula system to the technology-driven education. 'We need an education system that can address current challenges and act as a tool to transform lives. Our education system must now integrate employment opportunities for students after graduation', he said. The National Education Policy had introduced innovative and student-friendly curricula that prioritised the future of the students he said, emphasising the need for strengthening industry-academia ties, reforms in academics, research, teaching and administration. On the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University Grants Commission (UGC) handed over Letters of Intent (LoIs) to four foreign universities—three from Australia and one from the UK—to set up campuses in India. Western Sydney University is among them and plans to open its campus in Greater Noida, with admissions expected to begin in 2026. In an email interaction with George Williams AO, Vice-Chancellor and President of Western Sydney University, shares why the university chose Greater Noida, details of their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and how they plan to implement a blended academic model in India. Why is Western Sydney University establishing a campus in India, and why Greater Noida? George Williams AO: Western Sydney University is establishing a campus in Greater Noida to deepen its long-standing partnership with India and expand its impact in education, research, and innovation. With over two decades of collaboration with Indian institutions, government bodies, and industry, the University brings a strong track record in delivering high-impact, real-world outcomes — ranging from agricultural, water innovation to climate resilience and sustainability. Its integrated approach to education, research, and policy, alongside proven bilateral initiatives like the Australia India Water Centre, positions it uniquely to meet India's evolving needs. Greater Noida, located in Uttar Pradesh's Knowledge Park, offers a strategic base for this expansion. The campus will open in 2026. George Williams AO: Our postgraduate business programmes are expected to cost between Rs 9–12 lakh per annum (approximately AUD $16,000–$22,000).
