Anganwadi centres to get space at Zilla Parishad schools in Maharashtra

'There are thousands of Anganwadis in the state that operate from rented spaces. Irregular fund disbursement has led to difficulties in managing rent, electricity, water supply and sanitation,' said a Rural Development Department official.
'To address these issues, it had been proposed to relocate these centres to nearby ZP-run schools, provided the distance between the two is within 1 kilometre,' he said.
The Anganwadi programme in Maharashtra is implemented by the Women and Child Development Department under the Union government's Integrated Child Development Services scheme.
As per government data, the state has 1,10,048 Anganwadis, of which around 21,000 operate from rented premises, while 10,000 are located in community halls or public libraries.
An official from the Women and Child Development Department said the National Education Policy 2020 had also recommended integrating Anganwadis with schools to improve early learning outcomes.
'In line with this, the state has advised ZP schools to share unused classrooms with Anganwadis,' the official said.
ZP schools have been asked to allow Anganwadi staff and children access to kitchens, washrooms, school grounds, drinking water and sports equipment, the official said.
'Where the school building has multiple floors, Anganwadis should be given classrooms on the ground floor. The Women and Child Development Department will provide funds for repairs, painting and setting up essential infrastructure, if necessary,' the official added.

Admitting that the leopard was sighted on several occasions at Pune international airport, Union minister of state for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Wednesday said that cages have been put up at the airport premises to catch the elusive leopard and steps have been taken to ensure that birds and animals that stray on to the premises don't lead to untoward incident and accidents at the airport. Mohol said a discussion was held to keep a check on the entry of domestic or stray animals at the airport premises. 'There are chronic garbage spots at the airport premises that becomes sources of food for stray animals and birds. As a result, there have been bird hit incidents at the airport,' he said. Mohol said the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been instructed to demarcate spots around the airport from where regular moitoring can be conducted. He added that he has told authorities to remove illegal encroachments in the vicinity. The PMC recently demolished 17 structures that were illegally constructed in the restricted area of the airport in Lohegaon. U'khand schools start daily Gita lessons in morning assemblies
Dehradun: Govt schools across Uttarakhand began teaching Bhagwad Gita shlokas during morning assemblies from Tuesday under the National Education Policy 2020, following a review meeting in May that cleared the proposal to "familiarise students with Indian culture and knowledge traditions". Officials from the state education department said the practice aims to take learning beyond the classroom. "NEP clearly states that students must be introduced to Indian culture, heritage, knowledge systems, and traditional learnings. The teachings must go beyond the curriculum. The CM also directed that these ancient teachings be incorporated into our schooling system. In line with that, shlokas from the Bhagwad Gita have now been introduced in the morning assemblies in our schools. Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 15 (ANI): In a tragic accident, a tempo overturned on the Doda-Bhart road in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, killing five people and leaving 17 others injured, stated officials. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh said that three of the 17 injured were critical and were undergoing treatment. '10-11 people have been injured. All of us are from Madhya Pradesh. We were travelling from Amarnath to Vaishno Devi and had left at 3 am. After the accident, we were brought to the hospital. We are receiving good treatment here,' he said. Another injured pilgrim, Bhagirath from Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur, said, 'I am from Mandsaur in MP. We had come for the yatra. The accident happened in Kulgam. I have sustained an injury to my eye... The arrangements here are good. 'Dr Tariq, an orthopaedic specialist at GMC Anantnag, told ANI, 'We have 8-10 people here. Most of them have injuries on their head... Orthopaedically, they are all stable. After due investigations, all of them will likely be discharged in an hour...
