Mere days after Nissan USA revealed the Armada Nismo, the related Nissan Patrol Nismo has had its world premiere. The Armada is badged as the Patrol in other markets such as Australia and the Middle East; it's the latter region where Nissan chose to display the new Patrol Nismo, likely owing to that market's preference for large, off-road-capable SUVs.
At first glance, the new Patrol Nismo looks identical to the Armada Nismo, but there is one major difference: Power. Yes, the Patrol Nismo gets even more grunt than the local Armada Nismo.
High-Output V6 Highlights New Patrol Nismo
The new Patrol Nismo produces 495 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque from its 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6. By comparison, our own Armada Nismo makes 460 hp and the same amount of torque. As Nissan points out, this is the 'highest output for the VR35DDTT engine anywhere globally.' Looked at another way, the Patrol Nismo has a whole 75 more horsepower than the brand's dedicated sports car, the thrilling Z Nismo.
Nissan says this higher output is based on feedback received from customers in the Middle East. A nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters helps to get the most out of that V6, and the Patrol also gets Nismo-tuned E-dampers that adjust the damping levels in real-time. Special tuning for the power steering and exhaust system also form part of the upgrades.

Looking at the spec sheets of the Armada Nismo and Patrol Nismo, we found one or two other differences. For instance, the Armada has a minimum ground clearance of 8.9 inches, while the Patrol comes in at 7.7 inches. And, while the Armada Nismo weighs 6,102 pounds, the Patrol Nismo is an even heftier 6,210 lbs. The Patrol boasts a slightly superior departure angle of 25.5 degrees, compared to the Armada's 24.5 degrees.
In both cases, the Pro-4X is the Armada/Patrol model to get if you want a dedicated off-road SUV.
Similar Styling, Inside And Out
Like the Armada Nismo, Nissan went all-out with the styling of the Patrol Nismo. An exclusive Stealth Gray paint finish best complements the black 22-inch wheels and red accents around the body. It's not all about butch looks, though; for instance, the front bumper sides have air curtains that divide airflow and ultimately reduce lift, while also increasing downforce. Air diffusers and rear side air splitters, meanwhile, improve rear downforce and grip.
The same black and red color scheme as the hottest Armada is found inside the Patrol Nismo. The combination of leather and suede evokes a sporty yet quality feel, and there are also carbon fiber elements.

The Patrol Nismo is also capable of seating eight occupants, so all your friends can come along on high-speed adventures and the occasional off-road jaunt.
Nissan says the new Patrol Nismo will be available in the Middle East from July, and local fans will have to live with the fact that our own Armada Nismo isn't the best, most powerful SUV Nissan has to offer.

Third-generation Nissan e-Power hybrid system promises EV-like driving
Nissan Bets on Simpler, Smoother Hybrid Tech Hybrids are ubiquitous, but none operate quite like those with Nissan's e-Power system, the third generation of which just debuted in the redesigned Qashqai crossover for the European market, but is expected to reach the United States in 2026 in the next-generation Rogue. While most automakers opt for a parallel hybrid system that allows both an internal-combustion engine and electric motors to directly power the wheels, e-Power is a series hybrid system, in which the combustion engine acts purely as a generator, with electricity providing all of the motive power. That means instant response to throttle inputs, as in an EV, and is mechanically simpler than other hybrid systems, Nissan notes. Numerous Improvements A key update for the third-generation e-Power system is the integration of an electric motor, generator, inverter, and a reduction gear into a single unit that's more compact and lighter than the previous packaging, Nissan said in a press release. Battery capacity is unchanged from the previous Qashqai hybrid, at 2.1 kilowatt-hours. The new Qashqai hybrid also retains a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, but Nissan made a few changes to boost efficiency, power, and refinement. Thermal efficiency has improved to 42%, meaning more of the fuel volume actually gets translated into energy for turning the wheels. Low-speed performance in particular has been approved, according to Nissan, while a larger turbo lets the engine operate 200 rpm lower at highway speeds, reducing noise (overall cabin noise is down to 56 decibels, Nissan claims). The automaker says these changes make the previous engine's variable-compression-ratio tech redundant. Nissan estimates 62 mpg on the European WLTP testing cycle, which is generally more optimistic than the U.S. EPA testing cycle. Output improves by about 15 horsepower, to 202 hp. That's about the same as the 201 hp rating of the U.S.-spec 2025 Nissan Rogue, which uses a variable-compression turbo-three engine without a hybrid system. It's not likely to reach the U.S., but Nissan confirmed last year that it planned to launch e-Power in the U.S. and Canada by the end of fiscal year 2026. Earlier this year, the automaker said the Rogue would get the third-generation e-Power system, along with the Qashqai and a minivan. While the Rogue could use a hybrid option, as most of its U.S.-market rivals already offer one, e-Power still comes with some questions. Series hybrids have struggled with efficiency and vibration issues at the steady-state highway speeds that are common in the U.S. That's why other automakers have avoided this tech (Honda's two-motor hybrid system comes close, but still allows the engine to directly drive the wheels in certain situations) and why Nissan has hesitated to bring e-Power to the U.S. Nissan launched the first-generation e-Power system in Japan in 2016, on the Note hatchback. As of last October, it claimed to save sold more than 1.5 million vehicles with the system, and that it was available in 68 markets. It's been promising U.S. sales for most of that span, even announcing plans to make e-Power the default powertrain tech for its Infiniti luxury brand. But those plans were canceled in 2021. 2026 Infiniti QX60 Arrives With A Substantial Price Bump
Infiniti QX60 Base Pricing Rises By $1,000 Infiniti has revealed the refreshed-for-2026 QX60 lineup, which gains a new Sport trim to replace the Sensory model from last year. More than just a name change, the Sport also adds Dark Blue upholstery, a black headliner, dark exterior accents, an S badge on the tailgate, and unique gloss black 20-inch wheels. The entire lineup now features a redesigned grille inspired by a bamboo forest, an illuminated Infiniti emblem, and restyled daytime running lights, the origins of which can be traced back to the full-size QX80. Adding AWD adds $2,000 to the price. Next up is the Luxe trim, starting $56,800 as standard and $58,800 with AWD, meaning its price is unchanged for 2026. This gets a 3D surround view monitor with Mobile Object Detection, a new feature for 2026. The Luxe also boasts a 16-speaker sound system from Klipsch, climate-controlled front seats, and heating for the second row. Infiniti Will Offer Sub-$50k Cars Again After Infiniti culled its most affordable SUVs last year, the QX50 and QX55, the QX60 is the entry point to ownership, but that may soon change. A report from Automotive News last month indicated that Nissan is preparing a new compact crossover under the internal codename i33C. Unconfirmed reports indicate that this will form the basis of the next Nissan Rogue and that Infiniti will piggyback with something similar. This is expected to be either a mild-hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, and in Infiniti guise, it'll have more upmarket appointments and technology.
