(Courtesy: Peel Paramedics) At least two people have been taken to the hospital, and an alleged impaired driver is in custody following a multi-vehicle collision in Brampton. Peel Regional Police and York Regional Police responded to the area of Highway 50 and Coleraine Drive around 4:15 p.m. for a crash. Peel police say four vehicles were involved and multiple people sustained injuries, including one in life-threatening condition. Peel paramedics told CTV News Toronto that they transported two people to the hospital in stable condition. Police say a man was arrested for impaired operation. They added that all vehicles involved in the crash remained at the scene.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/David Lipnowski A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly chasing a pedestrian with a knife in downtown Winnipeg. Winnipeg police were called to the intersection of Portage Avenue and Main Street at 6:39 p.m. Friday, following multiple reports of a man armed with a knife threatening people. According to the city, one of the pedestrians managed to escape by jumping into a passing security vehicle and calling police. Officers arrived to find the suspect still in possession of a knife. He tried to flee but was arrested near Main Street and McDermot Avenue. The knife was recovered and no injuries were reported. The man faces weapons-related charges and a charge for failing to comply with a release order.
