WWE's 'The Miz' wants Browns to follow the Chiefs' rookie plan for Patrick Mahomes
This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin about his participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 9-13 at Edgewood Tahoe, and his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns, whom he hopes will take a tip from the Kansas City Chiefs.
"When I first saw what we (Cleveland Browns) did with the second pick, I wanted Travis Hunter; I think he's a generational talent. He's going to play offense-defense. The best football player in the draft is what you're hearing. And then when I saw what we got for that second pick, I was like, wow, we just got a haul. So right then and there. I said, You know what? These guys know exactly what they're doing," said Miz, "Now, do we have a huge quarterback room? Yes. But do we need a huge quarterback room? Yes, because we can never find a good quarterback who is our franchise player. So I think now is when we're going to have a little competition, like to be, you know, to go up against each other. And I'm excited to see what Shedeur (Sanders), Dillon Gabriel, Kenny Pickett, and Joe Flacco can do in that quarterback room. Hopefully, the young kids can learn from Flacco because he is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and I'm hoping that, you know, one of their college careers translates to the NFL."
Miz mentioned Shedeur Sanders as his choice for the future franchise quarterback role. However, he wants Kansas City to utilize the process during Patrick Mahomes' rookie season.
"I can sit here and say any name, and you never know until you get to the first game in the NFL and all the defensive packages are put into place, and you see how well they're able to look at the field and see the field and see where they need to go. So that's what I'm looking forward to. I look forward to seeing them get on the field and do something during a real NFL game. I'm not talking preseason, either. We can talk about the draft, rookie OTAs, regular OTAs, and the preseason. It all comes to fruition when the NFL season comes, and that's what I'm looking forward to," said Miz, "Hopefully, they'll be able to sit back and watch for a little while before they get in. I always think of what they did with Patrick Mahomes; Kansas City was the perfect situation for him. He got to sit a year learning from Alex Smith, and now he's one of the best quarterbacks ever to do it. So, hopefully, we'll be able to do the same thing."
The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC, along with a first-place prize of $150,000, makes the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in the golf world.

Jake Ferguson's $52 million contract exposes Cowboys' draft mistake
Jake Ferguson's new contract should be a happy day for the Cowboys front office. A fourth round pick turned into Dak Prescott's security blanket for the future. But beneath the high-fives and congratulations is an underhanded admittance that Dallas whiffed on a draft pick not too long ago. A year after Ferguson was drafted, the Cowboys selected tight end Luke Schoonmaker in the second round of the 2023 draft. At the time, Ferguson only had 19 receptions for 174 yards his rookie year. Dalton Schultz was the starter that season but the Cowboys moved on from him. Schoonmaker, out of the University of Michigan, was expected to be an excellent blocking and pass-catching tight end. Instead it was Ferguson who stood out as a secure target over the middle while Schoonmaker struggled. The former Wolverine only had 27 receptions for 241 yards and one touchdown last season. He hasn't proven worthy of a second round investment. The Ferguson contract shows the Cowboys front office is admitting defeat on Schoonmaker. He has two years left on his rookie deal and still has a chance to prove himself, but Ferguson has taken the mantle as the primary tight end. It will take an injury or catastrophic shift if Dallas was to ever view Schoonmaker as a good pick. It's a rare miss for a front office that has drafted some elite talent. Destiny's Child Reunites Onstage During Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour Finale In Vegas
Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams reunited onstage during the final stop of the Cowboy Carter Tour in Las Vegas – and yes, the moment was as good as we thought it would be. Destiny's Child's stage moment marked the last show of Beyoncé's 32-stop tour across the U.S. and Europe. In true form, Queen Bey saved one of the biggest surprises for last. As soon as the trio emerged, concert-goers went wild. It was a dream moment for longtime fans who've been craving a full-circle performance since the Coachella 2018 cameo and Beyoncé's Super Bowl halftime show in 2013. Beyoncé, Michelle, and Kelly delivered a three-song medley that blended nostalgia and surprise — opening with 'Lose My Breath,' merging into Beyoncé's 'Energy' with Michelle and Kelly joining in for the now-legendary Mute Challenge, and closing with the fan-favorite 'Bootylicious.' Each of them took the stage with confidence, vocals, and a whole lot of style. Speaking of style, let's discuss fashion. Because the visuals alone of the trio in their gold fits are a moment. Beyoncé wore a high-cut gold sequin bodysuit with sheer mesh panels and long, layered fringe that dripped from her arms and legs. Her silhouette was curvaceous and commanding, and the gold shimmer hit under the stage lights like fire. Kelly stepped out in a gold knit bodysuit layered under shimmery wide-leg trousers with metallic texture. The fashion icon rocked trendy details, including star nips and a metallic belt. Michelle gave us fringe and fire. The Broadway star donned metallic gold pants with slits and layers of white fringe paired with a matching sparkly crop top. Throughout the Cowboy Carter Tour , Beyoncé brought out a long list of surprise guests – from country stars and rising voices to longtime collaborators and her husband Jay Z – but Destiny's Child reunion was the chef's kiss. The chemistry, the looks, and the sisterhood were unmatched. And just when fans thought the surprises were over, social media lit up again after the show. A now-viral video shows Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy, sharing sweet moments with former Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett's children (shared with Tommicus Walker) backstage. In the clips, Beyoncé warmly greets the kids, posing for photos and smiling ear to ear. Blue Ivy also poses with them. The content reminds fans of the group's sisterhood and evolution over the years. Destiny's Child will forever be 'girls' girls,' and we are here for it. SEE ALSO Destiny's Child Reunites Onstage During Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour Finale In Vegas was originally published on

The Kansas City Royals and pitcher Seth Lugo agree to 2-year extension, AP source says
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals and right-hander Seth Lugo have agreed to a two-year extension that includes a vesting option for the 2028 season, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Sunday night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal, which presumably takes one of the most talked-about names on the trade market off the table ahead of this week's deadline, had not been officially announced. The 35-year-old Lugo made his first All-Star Game and won his first Gold Glove last season, when he went 16-9 with a 3.00 ERA in the first year of a two-year, $30 million deal that included a player option for next season. Lugo has followed that up with an even better start to this season, going 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA through 19 outings for Kansas City. Rumors surfaced of several contenders interested in trading for Lugo ahead of Thursday's deadline, and the fact that the Royals have been hanging on the fringe of contention themselves left many wondering whether they would be buyers or sellers. It appears that they are going to make a push for a second consecutive playoff appearance. The Royals acquired outfielder Randal Grichuk from the Diamondbacks for reliever Andrew Hoffmann late Saturday, shoring up a weakness in the lineup by adding a right-handed bat. Now, they have indicated that Lugo remains big a part of their future with his extension — an especially timely one given it came the same day that All-Star pitcher Kris Bubic went on the injured list. Kansas City also is missing starters Cole Ragans and Michael Lorenzen due to injuries. Both are expected back at some point in August, and the Royals are hopeful that their return to the rotation will propel them down the stretch run. After beating the Guardians on Sunday, the Royals were four games back of the final American League wild-card spot. ___ AP MLB:
