Britney Spears Drinking, Lighting Cigarette on Flight, Authorities Called

Yahoo24-05-2025
Britney Spears caused a big commotion on a private jet Thursday ... so much so, authorities met her after she got off the plane and gave her a warning.
Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Britney was flying with her security from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to LAX when she started drinking -- then pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and started smoking.
The flight attendants were alarmed and ordered her to put out the cig, which she did. We're told she was "difficult" ... and when the plane landed, our sources say she was met by authorities and warned about her conduct. She was then free to leave.
We contacted LAX police and were told they did not respond, but it appears someone from Customs may have issued the warning.
As for JSX, the private plane service, a spokesperson told TMZ they had "no comment on the alleged events described."
People around Britney tell us her mental health struggles have been an ongoing issue in her day-to-day life. Several people in Britney's life are still grousing that she was let out of her conservatorship.
As one source put it, "The judge went so Hollywood, ignoring all of the medical reports in front of her and just bent to the Free Britney people outside the courthouse."

This Portable TV Turns My Patio Into a Full-Blown Entertainment Hub, and It's on Sale for Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day deal: The Skyworth 24-inch P100 Companion Series portable TV is seeing a 25% discount for Prime Day. That drops the price down to $299.99, or $100 off its usual retail price, making it an impressive deal on a battery-powered TV that's designed to be taken outdoors. Back in the day -- we're talking 40 years ago -- portable TVs were a big thing. That's when people would tune into over-the-air signals with a Sony Watchman and watch whatever local TV stations were broadcasting. But with smartphones, tablets and laptops now able to stream content wirelessly, including live TV from apps like YouTube TV and many other services, a portable TV seems like something of a novelty. And to a certain degree, that's just what Skyworth's battery-powered 24-inch P100 Companion Series portable TV is. At a typical list price of $400, it isn't exactly cheap, but it's also the largest portable TV I've ever used, and it's turned my patio into an entertainment oasis. Read more: Best TVs of 2025 The Skyworth 24-inch TV has an integrated battery than runs up to 3 hours. David Carnoy/CNET There are a few key things to highlight about the 1,080-pixel Skyworth portable TV. First, it's Wi-Fi-enabled and is equipped with Google TV, so it's a streaming device. It's also got Chromecast built-in so you can cast to it from an Android phone (I was able to cast the Spectrum TV app to it from my iPhone 16 Pro but had to fiddle around with the settings in my Google Home app to get it to work). And finally, it has an integrated battery that delivers up to 3 hours of battery life in energy-saving mode (the battery life seemed closer to 2 hours in my tests). You can also plug the TV in -- that's what you have to do to charge it -- just like a normal TV. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. However, when you start streaming, the picture does appear to be 1080p. You just aren't going to get inky blacks. But it is a matte screen that cuts down on the glare and has a relatively wide viewing angle. The TV is designed to be taken outdoors, though it has no water resistance rating, so you wouldn't want to leave it out in the rain. (Sylvox makes a 15.6-inch portable TV that's apparently waterproof, but it's considerably smaller than this TV). There's a mini soundbar in the base -- Skyworth says the TV is equipped with Dolby Audio -- that can play pretty loud, but the dynamic range is a little narrow. That's a polite way of saying there isn't a whole lot of bass. But again, for casual viewing, it does the job and you could connect a better speaker to it if you wanted to you. You could also connect a streaming device like a Roku 4K Streaming Stick to it. On the side of the TV, you'll find a single HDMI port, a USB port out for power, plus an optical output, 3.5mm auxiliary output and Ethernet port. The TV's connectivity options. David Carnoy/CNET Screwed into the back of TV is a handle made out of faux leather for carrying the TV, which is fairly lightweight at 11 pounds. Skyworth also sells a carrying case for it, which is also currently on sale for $50. Is this a better option than a portable monitor? In some ways, yes. First off, this is bigger than most portable monitors, and to reiterate, the key feature here is the integrated battery (alas, it doesn't appear to be replaceable), so you can view the TV wherever you want (for 2 to 3 hours anyway). I used it on my home Wi-Fi but also connected the TV to my phone's hot spot when I was outside, and it worked fine streaming content. True, it's significantly more expensive than many portable monitors, but the use case for a portable monitor tends to be different. Randall County GOP chair charged with felony election fraud

The chair of the Randall County Republican Party was booked into jail Monday on a state felony election fraud charge. Kelly Kenten Giles, 64, is accused of providing false information on his application and petition to run for the Randall County Republican Party Chair seat in December 2023 for a spot on the 2024 primary ballot, according to the grand jury indictment signed late last month. It is unclear what about his application or petition was considered fraudulent. The offense is typically classified as a misdemeanor, but because Giles is accused of doing it while serving as an elected official, it becomes a felony. Giles did not respond to a request for comment, nor did anyone else with the Randall County Republican Party. The Texas Republican Party Chairman Abraham George said he learned of the allegations Tuesday. 'The Republican Party of Texas is steadfastly committed to upholding election integrity and the principles of the rule of law,' George said in an email. 'I am resolute in my duty to ensure that our commitment to securing Texas elections is upheld, which entails conducting elections with integrity by our elected party officials.' Giles' arrest comes after years of Texas Republicans cracking down on election integrity in the years that follow the 2020 election, despite no such evidence of widespread fraud. This crackdown escalated days ago when a former Democratic state House candidate was indicted alongside nine others for alleged vote harvesting in South Texas. The chairman was reelected to his seat as GOP chairman in the 2024 March primary election with 51% of the vote against two opponents, Brien Maxwell and Pat Bohlender. He was originally elected to his seat in May 2023 by the County Executive Committee, according to the Amarillo Tribune. Giles' indictment was handed down June 25 and the warrant was issued. He was booked into the Randall County jail and has since been released, according to the jail log. His case is being prosecuted by the Texas Attorney General's Office of the Election Integrity after the Randall County District Attorney recused his office. Confronted Over Epstein Files, Trump and Bondi Tell Supporters to Move On

President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi once suggested they would expose the hidden, potentially sinister truth about Jeffrey Epstein's death in 2019. On Tuesday, they had a message to supporters incensed by the decision to close the case once and for all: Get over it. 'You still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?' Mr. Trump, visibly exasperated, asked a reporter at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the day after the Justice Department released a memo concluding that 'no further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted' in the investigation of Mr. Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender. Ms. Bondi, the main target of critics on the right, added, 'He committed suicide.' But Epstein obsessives, who make up a small but influential cohort of Mr. Trump's far-right political coalition, showed zero inclination to move on — quite the opposite, in fact. They largely spared Mr. Trump, but have turned with a vengeance on Ms. Bondi; the F.B.I. director, Kash Patel; and his top deputy, Dan Bongino, for failing to come up with anything new or salacious in a case that multiple investigations have long deemed a dead end. 'She needs to resign,' wrote Laura Loomer, a Trump ally who has suggested, without evidence, that the department had suppressed evidence that Mr. Epstein was murdered. 'The American people and MAGA base will not tolerate being lied to.' Elon Musk, who has had a falling-out with Mr. Trump, has criticized the Justice Department and the president himself over the Epstein case. 'How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won't release the Epstein files?' Mr. Musk posted on social media on Tuesday afternoon. There are no indications that Mr. Trump is considering replacing Ms. Bondi or anyone else over the investigation, which has occupied a remarkable amount of government time and political attention. But he clearly wants it behind him and was visibly agitated to be asked questions about it during the meeting, which was intended to celebrate recent foreign policy and legislative victories and to discuss the deadly floods in Texas.
