J&K: Union Minister and L-G to inaugurate Baltal Yatri Niwas tomorrow
Three more such facilities are presently being built in Pahalgam, Bijbehara in the Valley and Sidhra in the Jammu division. This initiative is part of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) corporate social responsibility (CSR).
These projects not only cater to the annual Amarnath Yatra but also provide year-round benefits to local residents, including permanent healthcare facilities.
The Baltal Yatri Niwas and Disaster Management Complex, spread across 6,315 square metres, is now fully operational and includes a Yatri Niwas, VIP guest house, security infrastructure, and disaster-response facilities.
Construction is progressing at Nunwan (8,500 sq. m) and Bijbehara (7,640 sq. m), with both sites expected to be completed by September 2025.
The Sidhra complex in Jammu, designed to serve as a vital hub for boarding, emergency management, and logistical coordination, is targeted for completion by September 2026.
In 2024, ONGC also constructed permanent 100-bed hospitals at Baltal (Ganderbal) and Chandanwari (Anantnag), in collaboration with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
These facilities, which include ICUs and staff accommodations, replace the earlier temporary medical camps and now serve as year-round Primary Health Centres for yatris and residents.
The Yatra started on Thursday as hundreds of Yatris moved towards the holy cave shrine, both from central Kashmir, Baltal, and south Kashmir, Pahalgam base camps.
The 36-day Yatra will conclude on August 9, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals.
The Baltal trek from base camp to cave shrine is 14 km long, while the Pahalgam trek is 46 km long.

These include three doctors of the NMC team who were arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 55 lakh for giving a favourable report to the Naya Raipur-based Rawatpura Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. The syndicate has its roots in the Union health ministry, where eight accused officials ran the sophisticated scheme facilitating unauthorised access, illegal duplication and dissemination of highly confidential files and sensitive information to representatives of medical colleges through a network of intermediaries in exchange for huge bribes, the CBI FIR alleged. Live Events It alleged that the officials, in collusion with the intermediaries, manipulated the statutory inspection process conducted by the NMC by disclosing inspection schedules and identities of the designated assessors to the medical institutions concerned well in advance of the official communication. The CBI has named the Union health ministry's Poonam Meena, Dharamvir, Piyush Malyan, Anup Jaiswal, Rahul Srivastava, Deepak, Manisha and Chandan Kumar as accused in the FIR. They allegedly located files and clicked photographs of notings and comments made by senior officers. This critical information pertaining to the regulatory status and internal processing of medical institutions in the ministry gave an alarming degree of leverage to colleges, allowing them to orchestrate elaborate deceptions to hoodwink the inspection process, according to the CBI. "Such prior disclosures have enabled medical colleges to orchestrate fraudulent arrangements, including the bribing of assessors to secure favourable inspection reports, the deployment of non-existent or proxy faculty (ghost faculty), and the admission of fictitious patients to artificially project compliance during inspections, and tampering with the biometric attendance systems to falsify," the FIR said. The agency has mentioned bribes running into lakhs of rupees being exchanged between NMC teams, intermediaries and representatives of medical colleges, being routed through hawala and used for multiple purposes, including the one in the name of construction of a temple.

Centre approves 100-bed yoga and naturopathy hospital in Guntur
The Central government has approved the establishment of a 100-bed hospital under the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) at Nadimpalem village in Prathipadu mandal of Guntur district, with a total outlay of ₹94 crore. Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, on Thursday informed that the hospital will be built on 15 acres under the Ministry of AYUSH and will be fully funded by the Centre. The hospital will include modern medical facilities, a scientific research centre, a training institute, and residential quarters for medical staff. The project aims to offer round-the-clock integrated healthcare services, blending traditional Indian medicine with scientific research. Minister Pemmasani said the centre would serve as a national hub for research, training, and treatment in yoga and naturopathy, contributing to healthier lifestyles through traditional practices. He termed it as a major opportunity not just for Guntur but for entire Andhra Pradesh. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Ayush Jadhav Prataprao Ganpatrao, and the Central government, highlighting that the project is a milestone in Andhra Pradesh's healthcare development under Chief Minister N.
