London: Harvey Elliott spectacularly fired England Under-21s to the European Championship final as they moved on win away from becoming back-to-back champions. One year on from the men's senior team beating the Netherlands in the Euros semi-final, the Young Lions followed suit, with Elliott's second-half double earning a 2-1 win in Bratislava. The 22-year-old, a Premier League champion with Liverpool, scored both goals, first putting his side ahead just after the hour and then firing a superb 86th-minute winner after Noah Ohio had levelled for the Dutch with his first touch. Lee Carsley's side will meet Germany or France in Saturday's final when they will hope to retain the crown they won two years ago. PA Media/dpa Orlando Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has dismissed speculation he could leave the club as 'fake news'. The Brazilian has one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. The 31-year-old has spent the past eight years at City and helped the club win 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League. 'My future is here,' Ederson said. 'Some friends send me lots of news, but 99% is fake news. 'I understand you guys, you need the news, to put a 'like' on social media but there's a lot of fake news around my name. 'My head is here. It stays with City. It means everything to go back to the Premier League and to try to win the Champions League as well. My mind is staying in the club.' Ederson's comments come after number two keeper Stefan Ortega, who also has just one year remaining, refused to discuss his future when asked during City's Club World Cup campaign earlier this week. The 32-year-old German has largely remained in Ederson's shadow during his three years at the club. 'It's quite early for that question,' Ortega told media in the United States. 'I can't say anything about that, it's too early.' City endured a frustrating 2024-25 season, failing to defend their league title after four successive triumphs and exiting the Champions League before the last 16. In response the club have been overseeing a squad overhaul and it is not yet clear whether either goalkeeper is part of the long-term plans or if any contract negotiations are under way. Asked specifically about Ederson at his press conference to preview Thursday's game against Juventus in Orlando, manager Pep Guardiola said he did not know whether the Brazilian would stay beyond next season. He said: 'I don't know, but I am so pleased with what I am seeing in the training sessions and he is with us. 'He has had a spectacular decade with us and his contribution has been massive in many aspects.'

Liverpool complete signing of Bournemouth left-back Kerkez
PA Media/dpa London Liverpool have completed the £40 million ($54.9 million) signing of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez on a five-year contract. The 21-year-old is the club's third arrival this summer, following Jeremie Frimpong and club-record transfer Florian Wirtz. And with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili joining next month in a deal done 12 months ago there will be more than £200 million of new talent present when pre-season training starts in a fortnight. Kerkez, who links up with fellow Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai at Anfield, is viewed as the long-term successor to 31-year-old Andy Robertson, who is a target for Atletico Madrid. It is understood the club have no intention of forcing out the Scotland international, who started in 29 of his 33 Premier League appearances last season but is in the final year of his contract. Liverpool new boy Kerkez said: 'I'm really happy. It's a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, (the) biggest club in England. I'm just really, really happy and excited. 'After this, I'll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can't really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.' Kerkez made 74 appearances for Bournemouth after joining from AZ Alkmaar two years ago and has been shortlisted for the 2024-25 PFA Young Player of the Year award. 'I just want to thank everyone for really showing me big love, even before it will be announced now,' the 23-cap Hungary international added. 'And keep supporting the team like you support always, because you're the biggest fan base in the world.
