ISIS-linked terror accused Saquib Nachan dies in Delhi hospital
New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): Saquib Nachan, an accused with links to the terror group Islamic State (ISIS), died in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, said sources on Saturday.
He had been in judicial custody in Tihar Jail since 2023 and was admitted to the hospital a few days ago, they said.
Saquib was convicted for his involvement in the bomb blasts in Mumbai in 2002 and 2003.
According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Saquib Nachan, a habitual offender in many previous terror cases, was also a self-styled Amir-e-Hind for ISIS in India.
Earlier in June 2024, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had chargesheeted Nachan along with 16 hardcore agents of the proscribed global terrorist network, in a conspiracy involving the recruitment and radicalisation of youth and the fabrication of improvised explosive devices in the Delhi-Padgha ISIS terror module case.
The accused were chargesheeted under various sections of IPC, UA(P) Act, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act, were found to have been engaged in a massive ISISI conspiracy involving recruitment, training and propagation of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) ideology among gullible youth, along with fabrication of explosives and IEDs and fund-raising for the banned outfit.
Its investigation had subsequently led to the seizure of several incriminating documents and data relating to manufacturing of explosives and the fabrication of IEDs, along with propaganda magazines like 'Voice of Hind', 'Rumiyah', 'Khilafat', 'Dabiq', published by IS.
The agency had further found during investigations that the accused had been sharing digital files related to IED fabrication with their contacts. They were also found to be actively raising funds to further their terror plans as part of ISIS agenda to spread violence in India and destroy its secular ethos and democratic systems.
The accused had carried out several acts preparatory to unleashing of terrorist attacks, including recruitment of vulnerable youth into the organisation. (ANI)

The Chief Minister has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh each to the next of kin of the devotees who lost their lives in the tragic incident. Meanwhile, the Puri District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) have been transferred in the aftermath of the stampede. In addition, disciplinary action has been taken against other officials for alleged dereliction of duty. Class 10 student abducted, trafficked, raped: Maharashtra couple arrested from Telangana's Adilabad; probe on
HYDERABAD: Adilabad police arrested a couple from Maharashtra on Saturday for trafficking a minor tribal girl for Rs 10,000. A rape case has also been registered against a man in Rajasthan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for repeatedly sexually abusing the girl. He has not yet been arrested. The couple has been charged with human trafficking and kidnapping. Bheempur police registered a case on June 22 after the girl's family reported her missing, having failed in their attempts to trace her. Adilabad deputy superintendent of police L Jeevan Reddy said that on June 2, while the girl was alone at home, Nirmala Bapunja Athra, 47, and her husband Bapunya Rajaram Athra, 49, from Kinhla village in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra, approached her. The couple was in the Adilabad village as they knew people there. They reportedly engaged the girl in conversation, misled her, and abducted her. They first took her to Adilabad, then travelled by bus to Nagpur, and from there by train to Kota in Rajasthan. 'They then took her to a village, threatened her, and handed her over to a man,' said the DSP, adding that the man, Karan alias Bhagavath Menon, kept her at his house and repeatedly sexually abused her. According to cops, after learning from Nirmala Athra that girl's family had filed a complaint, Karan handed the girl back to her on June 23. Police said Karan is married and divorced. Nirmala and Rajaram brought the girl back to Adilabad, and she returned home on June 25. The DSP said the couple was arrested at Adilabad railway station while attempting to flee. "Due to the intense eagerness among devotees to have a glimpse of Mahaprabhu at Sharadhabali, an unfortunate incident occurred because of the resulting jostling and chaos. Personally, my government and I seek forgiveness from all Jagannath devotees. The annual yatra, which commenced on Friday, attracted more devotees this year than in previous years, according to news agency PTI. During the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra, a massive crowd of devotees pull the holy chariots of the three deities - Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Shubhadra - to the Gundicha Temple, a short distance from the Jagannath Temple. The three deities spend a week at the Gundicha Temple before returning to Jagannath Temple.
