HBL PSL X: How much money will the winning team receive?
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the prize money for the upcoming 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), with the winning team set to receive USD 500,000 (approximately Rs145 million).
The runner-up will earn USD 200,000 (around Rs56 million), the PCB confirmed on Thursday.
HBL PSL X kicks off on Friday with an opening ceremony at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, followed by the tournament opener between defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.
The T20 tournament will run until May 18, featuring six franchises across 34 matches. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 13 games, including both eliminators and the final. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will stage 11 matches, including the qualifier on May 13.
Karachi's National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will host five matches each. Three double-headers are scheduled—two on Saturdays and one on Labour Day (May 1).
Team leadership remains consistent with Babar Azam captaining Peshawar Zalmi, Shadab Khan leading Islamabad United, Muhammad Rizwan heading Multan Sultans, and Shaheen Shah Afridi in charge of Lahore Qalandars.
Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators will play under new leadership this season, with David Warner and Saud Shakeel stepping in as captains, respectively.
Last season, Islamabad United claimed their third PSL title, while Multan Sultans ended as runners-up for a third consecutive year.

Pak abolish vice-captain position
The position of vice-captain has effectively been abolished while waiting for Shadab Khan's return. After the Bangladesh tour, no vice-captain has been appointed for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies either. Mike Hesson and Shadab Khan were both part of the HBL Pakistan Super League franchise Islamabad United as coach and player, respectively, and developed a good understanding during that time. The coach has full confidence in the all-rounder's abilities and considers him a good team man. Sources revealed that it was Hesson who recommended not appointing a vice-captain for the Bangladesh tour, as he was waiting for Shadab Khan's return, which currently does not seem imminent. No announcement has been made for a vice-captain for the West Indies series either. In the ODI squad, Mohammad Rizwan's deputy is Salman Ali Agha. Further sources disclosed that an "influential selector" is staunchly against Shadab Khan's inclusion in the team. In a recent meeting, he reportedly stated that bringing the senior all-rounder back into the team was a mistake, and he absolutely should not be made vice-captain. According to him, Salman Ali Agha is a non-political cricketer who focuses solely on his game. Although Shadab was the vice-captain, he was often seen leading the team on the field. He would change his batting order on his own and, at times, pushed for the inclusion of certain players. Due to his connection with Islamabad United, he has good relations with Hesson, which he allegedly uses to his advantage. It is important to note that there is no possibility of Shadab Khan being fit in time for the Asia Cup; he is likely to return in October. It is still unclear whether a vice-captain will be appointed for the mega event or not.

Dar was paid double fee during HBL PSL9
The PCB audit report has raised concerns over umpire Aleem Dar receiving double the standard match fee during PSL 9, as he was paid $4,000 per match instead of the set $2,000. According to details in the report, Aleem Dar received an additional payment of approximately 3.85 million PKR under match fee expenditures. The note sheet labeled "PCB-DCOP-24-1848 – Payments for Match Officials, PSL 9, 2024" reveals that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed several umpires and match referees for PSL 9 fixtures. As per PCB regulations, the match fee for an umpire on the ICC International Panel is $2,000 per match. However, Aleem Dar was paid $4,000 per match, which was double the official rate. This increased payment was approved by previous Chairman of the Management Committee. The audit report states that this resulted in an additional financial burden of $14,000 on the PCB, 15 million PKR were allocated from the Chairman's contingency fund. In total, Aleem Dar received $28,000 as match official fees during PSL 9, in line with the ICC Elite Panel rate of $4,000 per match. However, at the time of PSL 9, Aleem Dar was not part of the ICC Elite Panel. He was on the PCB's International Panel, meaning his designated fee should have been $2,000 per match. This led to an excess payment of $14,000 (around 3.85 million PKR) which, according to the audit, was beyond his entitlement. The auditors concluded that this excessive payment not only gave undue benefit to the recipient but also caused financial loss to the PCB and the franchises. In response, the PCB management explained that Aleem Dar, being part of the PCB International Panel, had requested to be paid at the ICC Elite Panel rate, and that this request was approved by the Chairman at the time. The report states that this response indicates the management acknowledged the audit's observation.
