Trailer's out for Celine Song's 'Materialists',starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal
Written, directed, and produced by Song, the film follows an ambitious New York City matchmaker who faces a dilemma between her perfect match and her imperfect ex. Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal lead the cast in Song's follow-up to her acclaimed Oscar-nominated debut, Past Lives.
Filming for Materialists began in April 2024 and wrapped in June of the same year in New York City. In addition to Johnson, Evans, and Pascal, the cast includes Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Sawyer Spielberg. Producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films, along with David Hinojosa of 2AM, are behind the project. A24 will handle the U.S. release, while Sony Pictures has acquired international distribution rights.
Song's debut feature, Past Lives, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and garnered significant critical acclaim. The film, which explores the emotional journey of two childhood friends over the course of 24 years, earned more than $42 million globally and appeared on numerous 'best of' lists. Variety's Peter Debruge praised Song's deeply personal and universally resonant storytelling, describing the film as "a treasure."
Past Lives also received two Academy Award nominations, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture, as well as five Golden Globe nominations and three BAFTA Film Award nominations.
Materialists is set to hit theaters on June 13, 2025. Fans of Song's work can expect another heartfelt exploration of love and relationships with this new project.

Adding fresh intrigue is Shailene Woodley, who joins the cast this season. Brown was tight-lipped about her role but said, 'She's sweet, honest, open, ready to play, and very professional... She's outstanding.' With more flashbacks to President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) and deepening conspiracies, Paradise isn't just expanding its geography, it's exposing its soul. The stakes are higher, the alliances murkier, and the outside world may hold more than Xavier ever expected.

More than a decade after The Hunger Games hit cinemas, casting director Debra Zane is peeling back the curtain on the decision that defined a generation: choosing Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
