Stephon Gilmore wants to play in 2025, but it has to be the "right situation"

NBC Sports2 days ago
Free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore wants to play a 14th NFL season.
'I want to play this year,' Gilmore said on The Money Down podcast. 'It's got to be the right situation. You know what I'm saying? It's got to be the right situation for me. I'm not just going to sign anyway, so it's got to be the first situation.
'I still love the game. I still can contribute. It's just got to be the right place.'
Gilmore, who will turn 35 in September, visited the Cowboys' team facility in April before they drafted Shavon Revel Jr. in the third round. Gilmore spent 2023 in Dallas.
He played 15 games for the Vikings in 2024, totaling an interception, nine pass breakups and 56 tackles.
Gilmore began his NFL career as a first-round pick of the Bills in 2021 and also has played for the Patriots, Panthers and Colts.
In 2019, Gilmore was the league's defensive player of the year, but he hasn't made the Pro Bowl since 2021.

Notre Dame adds its 2nd ‘26 WR commit of the weekend with NFL legends son Devin Fitzgerald

BREAKING: Class of 2026 WR Devin Fitzgerald has Committed to Notre Dame, he tells me for @rivalsThe 6'2 205 WR from Phoenix, AZ chose the Fighting Irish over Clemson, Stanford, & UCLA⁰⁰He is the son of NFL Legend Larry Fitzgerald Notre Dame football recruiting hasn't skipped a beat over the last three weeks, and as the commitments keep rolling in, with Saturday night's verbal of 2026 wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald the latest. The son of NFL legend Larry, had been projected to commit to Notre Dame, but made it official as he joined one of the top classes in the country. Devin stands 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 205-pounds while being ranked as the No. 453 overall prospect in the country by the 247Sports Composite. In Fitzgerald's case, the recruiting ranking should be thrown out the window, as he can lean on his father for expert advice, and will now bring that elite experience to South Bend with him. It can't be understated how much the NFL father's bring to the table, especially considering that the Irish now have numerous players with that. Just yesterday Kaydon Finley committed, his father Jermichael also played at the highest level. Not only that, linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.'s father also falls into that category. Betting on bloodlines is a good idea, and the Irish have done plenty of that.

Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class features 3 NFL sons and will make you feel so old

If you're ready to feel very, very old, check out these three recent recruits for Notre Dame football. After the son of former Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis, outside linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., committed to the Fighting Irish last fall, the school landed the sons of two more NFL standouts on Saturday. Wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald, the son of future Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and wide receiver Kaydon Finley, the son of former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, both committed to the Notre Dame the day after July 4th. This photo with all three former NFL players and sons, all future Notre Dame players, is so cool. However, it will also make you sit quietly and contemplate the cruel passage of time. Congrats to all of these future Notre Dame players and their dads, and continued respect to Father Time for making us all feel absolutely ancient.
