Son Heung-min set for Spurs reunion with star he had 'beautiful' bust-up with at new club
Son Heung-min is set to be reunited with Hugo Lloris nearly five years after the pair had a furious dressing room bust-up. The South Korean forward has announced that he will be leaving Spurs this summer after nearly a decade.
And once a move is formalised, he will be reunited with a familiar face - former Spurs teammate Hugo Lloris. The pair were teammates for over eight years before the French goalkeeper completed a move to the United States.
Between them, the pair made 901 appearances for Spurs, twice going close to winning the Premier League together. And while the pair enjoyed plenty of success, they did not always see eye-to-eye.
The pair had to be physically separated in 2020 after coming to verbal blows at half-time of a 1-0 win against West Ham - an altercation that continued in the dressing room. Speaking at the time, ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said: "It's beautiful.
"It's a consequence, probably, of our meetings. If you want to blame somebody for that, it's me. I was critical of my boys because they are not in my opinion critical enough with themselves, I asked them to demand more from others, I asked them to put their colleagues under the pressure of the team spirit you have to give.
"It was a situation where an amazing kid, who everybody loves, Sonny, the captain [Lloris] thought he had to do more for the team and give a different effort.
"There were a couple of bad words, but I think it was something very important for the team to grow up, for that to happen you need to demand more of each other and be strong personalities. At half-time, I said when I saw the reaction I had no doubts they would stick together until the end."
Asked during his press conference where he would be going, Son refused to name a team, but did suggest that next summer's World Cup would be taken into account. He said: "For now it's to focus on tomorrow's match.
'I would not give many comments on the next team. Obviously I would like to focus on tomorrow's match and the future and the next team will be decided afterwards.
'In choosing the next team, the World Cup will definitely be one of the key points that I will consider. It might be my last World Cup so I need my new environment to give all that I've got for my football career. As well as the World Cup, I will also need to find a team that will make me happy while playing football."

Newcastle make decision on who will be first-choice goalkeeper after signing Aaron Ramsdale on loan transfer
NICK POPE will get the chance to stay as Newcastle's No 1, despite the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale. Ramsdale confirmed his loan move from Southampton yesterday to join Eddie Howe's squad after the Toon's failure to land James Trafford from Burnley. 4 4 But long-serving Pope, 33, will start the Premier League campaign as first choice because Howe feels loyalty towards him. Ramsdale, 27, must wait for his chance and hope he can do enough to claim the regular keeper's spot. Newcastle had enquiries for Pope that they rejected, and will back that up by starting with the ten-cap England stopper in the side. Instead the Geordies plan to let a couple of other keepers go and let the main two scrap it out for the top job. Ramsdale opted for Newcastle to make sure he keeps another relegation off his CV, having suffered the drop with FOUR teams in his career. He went down during an early loan at Chesterfield and that was followed by heartbreak at Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Southampton last season. Ramsdale had several choices of club when he left the south coast — but his fear of the drop ended the chances of three clubs. The canny keeper refused to entertain Leeds, Burnley or Sunderland — who all showed signs of interest — because he did not want to join a promoted side. In more Newcastle transfer news Manchester United reportedly enquired about the possibility of signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle this week. The Red Devils are understood to be determined to add a striker to their ranks before the transfer window closes. Liverpool have had a £100million bid for him rejected already as Eddie Howe's side look to keep him at the club. Newcastle value him at £150million The Sun has been told. 4

Marlie Packer hands England World Cup worry during 97-7 rout of Spain
The veteran flanker, who was captaining her country in Leicester, was dismissed 19 minutes from time for an adjudged illegal clearout on Spain full-back Claudia Pena. With the Red Roses set to play France next weekend in their final warm-up match ahead of their World Cup opener against the United States on August 22, Packer will face a disciplinary hearing to determine her fate. We take the win 🌹#RedRoses — Red Roses (@RedRosesRugby) August 2, 2025 Helena Rowland scored a hat-trick at Welford Road as England's preparations for a tilt at global glory on home soil began in ruthless fashion. The versatile back, who was hailed as 'probably the most valuable person' in the Red Roses' squad by head coach John Mitchell after being named to start on the right wing, claimed two of seven first-half tries. Number eight Maddie Feaunati, scrum-half Lucy Packer, wing Jess Breach, prop Sarah Bern and centre Jade Shekells also crossed in the opening 40 minutes. Bern registered her second try early in the second period before Rowland completed her treble two minutes later and lock Lilli Ives Campion added another for Test rugby's top-ranked nation. Spain, who are ranked 13th in the world and will face Ireland in Pool C at the World Cup, claimed a fine 53rd-minute consolation through 19-year-old Harlequins player Pena, which was converted by fly-half Amalia Argudo. Full-back Emma Sing stretched England's lead before replacements May Campbell, Hannah Botterman and Abby Dow and vice-captain Megan Jones completed the scoring following the premature departure of skipper Packer.
