Hyundai Teases Ioniq 6 N Performance Again
Last month, Hyundai began the teaser campaign for its upcoming Ioniq 6 N, a performance-focused electric sedan in the same vein as the Ioniq 5 N crossover. Only it won't be quite the same as the Ioniq 5 N, says Hyundai. The Korean automaker has teased the sedan once more, announcing that it will be revealed on July 10 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and revealing that significant changes under the skin will set the Ioniq 6 N apart from its taller sibling. There are three major points of interest to discuss, along with a short teaser video (embedded at the bottom of this article), so let's get started.
Fully Redesigned Suspension Geometry

Much of the speculation surrounding the Ioniq 6 N had centered around the idea that this will be little more than an Ioniq 5 N with a new body sitting on top of it. While the Ioniq 5 N would make a fine foundation for a new performance EV, the Ioniq 6 N is not pasting everything it's copied from the crossover. With a lower ride height, the Ioniq 6 N has unique suspension geometry with a lower roll center and enlarged caster trail (the distance between the point where the steering axis intersects the ground and the center of the tire's contact patch). This, says Hyundai, should improve the on-center steering feel and self-centering behavior, as well as result in more feedback through the wheel. Finally, new electronically controlled stroke sensing dampers promise to offer the Goldilocks balance between comfort and precision.
Better Simulated Shifts And Sounds
Source: Hyundai
Hyundai also touts 'advanced' N e-shift technology that is now available in every drive mode. This is a big deal because, as many a reviewer has bemoaned, the Ioniq 5 N can't provide simulated shifts when in its drift mode, so this change could make the Ioniq 6 N even more fun to drive. Hyundai says the new system will closely mimic motorsport-inspired close gear ratios, and the addition of a new 'N Ambient Shift Light' should further enhance engagement with the car. The sounds in the teaser clip below also seem to be inspired more by a naturally aspirated engine than a turbocharged one, so everything about the Ioniq 6 N should be just a little more exciting than it is in the 5 N.
Even Happier To Drift Than The 5 N
The last piece of information provided by Hyundai is that the N Drift Optimizer, or drift mode, has been enhanced with a broader range of customization options that promise tailored control based on skill level. It sounds to us a lot like the 10-stage traction control system in a BMW M4 or the eight-stage system in the Aston Martin Vantage. In a nutshell, the Ioniq 6 N will be even more thrilling to drive than the Ioniq 5 N, and that's a car almost universally regarded as the most enjoyable EV on the market. See you in a week for more.

Struggling car brand ‘in talks' to hand huge factory to major tech firm behind Apple iPhones after £4bn losses

A STRUGGLING car brand is "in talks" to hand a huge factory to a major tech firm behind the Apple iPhones after losing a whopping £4billion. Japanese car giant Nissan is in talks to let Taiwan's Foxconn use one of its factories to build electric vehicles, according to insiders. 2 2 The deal could throw a lifeline to the factory, which is at risk of shutting down for good. Nissan had been thinking about closing its Oppama plant, just south of Tokyo, Reuters reported in May. CEO Ivan Espinosa announced major restructuring plans to help save the struggling carmaker. The move led seven of Nissan's 17 factories worldwide to cut their workforce by around 15 per cent. A deal with Taiwan's Foxconn to build EVs at Oppama could save the plant from closure. This could soften the blow of Nissan's restructuring for the plant's 3,900 workers and suppliers. The negotiations were first reported late by the Nikkei business daily. Nissan said the report was based on information it had provided.# The Sun has contacted Nissan for comment. It comes after the company's new CEO confirmed it will be axing hundreds of jobs at a UK factory after reporting £4 billion in losses in the last financial year. Final days for Nissan drivers to claim $5k from 'defect' settlement – you can get multiple payouts by filling in form Nissan's Sunderland factory will be axing around 250 jobs as part of a "voluntary leave scheme" which allows employees to choose to leave their role with the company's support. Earlier this year, the manufacturer announced 20,000 job losses, seven factory closures and a pause on all post-2026 new car development. It is all part of a restructuring project overseen by CEO Ivan Espinosa after he was appointed in April. Now, Reuters has reported that the major car manufacturer has asked suppliers to allow it to delay payments in an attempt to free up short-term cash. According to a source and emails seen by Reuters, Nissan has asked some suppliers in Britain and the European Union to accept delays in payments. This would give the company more cash on hand at the end of the April-June first quarter. Requests like this are not uncommon as a means of freeing up cash flow. In a statement, Nissan told The Sun: 'As we take quick actions under the Re:Nissan plan, we are leveraging the strong and flexible relationships we have built with our suppliers to ensure financial stability and maintain solid foundations for future success. 'With their full agreement, we have incentivised some of our valued suppliers to collaborate under more flexible payment terms, at no cost to them, in order to support free cash flow. 'As previously communicated, our cash position remains strong. We continue to cooperate with our valued suppliers across our operations, including in the UK, where we are looking forward together to the launch of the all-new Nissan LEAF and the arrival of our new e-POWER technology to Qashqai, the highest-volume car built in Britain.'

Volvo EX30 Cross Country review: what exactly is the point of this £47k, 422bhp crossover? Reviews 2025

Wait, what am I looking at here? It's the Volvo EX30 of course, although while the standard car straddles a fine line between hatchback and crossover, this particular iteration wants to be a fully grown-up, mud-plugging SUV. Well, kinda. You see, this is the EX30 Cross Country, which follows in the footsteps of many larger Volvos in getting the jacked-up off-roady treatment. And yes, we loved the old Cross Country estates too, so we're hoping this car will have inherited some rufty-tufty Swedish charm. Advertisement - Page continues below How is it different from the standard car? Well, the first thing you'll notice is that it's taller. The CC rides 19mm higher with 12mm of that thanks to chassis alterations. The extra 7mm comes courtesy of chunky tyres, with 19in wheels and summer tyres as standard, or the option of 18in wheels with chunky off-road rubber. You can only have the Cross Country with the EX30's twin motor setup as that means you get all-wheel drive (much as we'd like to see a rear-wheel drive, single motor version that could do big gravel skids). The result of this top-spec powertrain though is a rather ludicrous 422bhp and 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds. The CC also adds front and rear skidplates and the obligatory black plastic wheelarch extensions. The EX30's face and bum are both adorned with some extra plastic too, with the mask at the front featuring the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden. How very rugged. How much will it cost me? Ah, well… much like the suspension, the Cross Country has also had its price jacked-up. There's no easy way of saying this, but it starts at £47,060. Good lord. Advertisement - Page continues below Standard EX30 prices actually kick off down at £33,060 for the single motor, and even if you wanted this same spec and powertrain it'd be £44,860 without the Cross Country bits. You're paying a fairly hefty premium, then. So, should I spend the extra £2k+? Well, on the road the Cross Country's suspension changes have certainly helped the ride. Where the standard car can be a little firm and fidgety, the CC has had its springs and dampers adjusted to be better suited to rough roads. Plenty of those in the UK. Volvo bosses describe it as being 'more mature' and 'a little bit calmer', but it still controls its weight well over bumps and crests. Still corners fairly flat, too, although there's not much feel or feedback from the steering. Unfortunately, there does seem to be a fair bit of road and wind noise transmitted into the cabin too, even on the summer tyres, and there really is no need for it to be this fast. This is a Cross Country with a sport mode. With instant torque its overtaking ability is mightily impressive, but it doesn't really fit with the character of a Cross Country.
