In a few days, fans of comics and superhero films all over the world are going to get to see the new Superman, David Corenswet, in action. Probably the most well-known superhero of all time, the character has been played by legendary actors who have all left a mark on the film legacy of the hero. Following in the footsteps of Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill, David revealed in a recent interview that he never wished to become Superman, as he never thought it was a feasible goal to have.
While talking to GQ, the Twisters actor shared his utter shock when he landed an audition to play the Kryptonian superhero. He said, 'I never wanted to play Superman because I didn't think it was an achievable goal. One day I was in my home, fixing a light bulb when I got the call from my agent who said, 'Well David, I'm sure you know what this call is about,' and I had no idea and told him, 'What am I supposed to be waiting for, Top Gun 3? Just talk fast because I am on a ladder.' Suddenly he told me that I have an audition for Superman and that I am not special, and will have to send my tape in like everyone else and told me to n0t f*** it up.'

David Corenswet shared that the iconic interview scene with Lois Lane was the scene they had to put on tape for the audition and also the scene they performed during his screen test. He also revealed that he saw several of the past Superman films in order to get an idea of what all already exists and what he can draw from the previous actors. The actor said, 'We saw the first Christopher Reeve's Superman, then Superman Returns and Man of Steel. My screen test was actually in the Henry Cavill suit, which is just a beautifully made piece of costume, and I put on his suit in the same way Henry put on the Reeves suit for his screen test, and that's the moment when you are stepping into something iconic.'
He added, 'When I finally got the role, Gunn called me from an unknown number, and I told him to prove to me that he was in fact James Gunn. He told me I got the role, and the next thing he told me was to get a trainer and work on my shoulders and vulnerability, which I thought was really funny.'
David Corenswet and James Gunn's Superman will hit screens worldwide on July 11.

Dune 3 gets official title as Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya gear up for an IMAX-heavy return to Arrakis

The sandstorm is swirling again on Arrakis and the official title has landed, Dune: Part Three is on the horizon. While fans were buzzing over reports calling it Dune Messiah, a nod to Frank Herbert's 1969 sequel, it turns out Warner Bros. and Legendary are going with the simpler (but still spicy) 'Part Three.' Guess the Messiah will have to wait for another dramatic reveal. Say hello to Dune: Part Three Set to follow Paul Atreides as he steps into his empire-era madness, the film picks up where Part Two left off, ruling, rebellion, and romance all tangled up in a spice-dusted power play. Now, here is where things got a little too cinematic. Imax CEO Richard Gelfond may have stirred the spice pot a bit too hard when he claimed Dune 3 would be entirely shot with Imax cameras. Spoiler alert, it will not. While the film will feature Imax sequences (like its predecessors), it will not follow Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey route, which holds the crown as the only feature shot entirely on Imax. A source from the production remained tight-lipped, but Gelfond's statement did spark excitement, especially when he called Villeneuve a 'genius' and teased fans with the hope that the director might bring his Imax obsession to the rumoured James Bond reboot next. Cast returns, but Villeneuve says this is not a trilogy Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are back in the sand-saddle, and surprise—Jason Momoa is reportedly returning, despite his absence in Part Two. Villeneuve, however, made it clear this is not your typical trilogy. According to the director, Dune 1 & 2 are more of a 'diptych,' and Part Three will have its own narrative identity. In short, expect something darker, weirder, and not just a neat little wrap-up. Release date Dune: Part Three is set to hit cinemas in December 2026, just in time for the festive season. Because nothing says holiday cheer like intergalactic war, prophetic visions, and sandworms the size of skyscrapers.

Superman First Review Calls James Gunn Film "Terrible" In Now-Deleted Post

New Delhi: James Gunn's new Superman movie, the first film in the DC Universe and a second reboot in the Superman film series, will hit the screens this weekend. However, the film, led by David Corenswet as Superman, was not received with warmth when it was screened for a select group of journalists in the West. Despite the reviews being on embargo, a publication named Daily Beast slammed the film as they released their review. They called it 'the final nail in the superhero coffin'. Snippets From The Viral Review The review was put up on Monday but taken down by Tuesday. The damage was done by then, as internet users took screenshots and shared them on social media. Commenting on the CGI treatment in the James Gunn film and questioning David Corenswet's performance, a part of the review read, " Superman doesn't skimp on the high-flying action, to a fault; the film is so awash in over-the-top CGI insanity that its slam-bang mayhem loses its punch. Not helping matters, the charming Corenswet looks the part but, in the shadow of Christopher Reeve (whose son Will cameos) and Henry Cavill, he comes across as relatively slight-a situation exacerbated by the all-over-the-place nature of his saga." The Daily Beast accidentally breaks 'Superman' review embargo before quickly deleting article/review by u/Colton826 in DCULeaks The now-deleted review also criticised the unnecessary introduction of characters and confusing plotlines, as it stated, "Biting off more than it can chew, Gunn's wannabe-blockbuster eventually resorts to setting up future franchise installments via quick-hit appearances from Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) and Supergirl (Milly Alcock). That's not to mention by highlighting second-banana figures like Mister Terrific at the expense of fully establishing the altruistic heart of its protagonist, whose path toward self-actualisation is mostly an afterthought." One section of the internet agreed, as they commented, "Always knew this would be a hot pile of garbage. Letting Snyder go was DC's biggest mistake." Another group came to the rescue of the Superman series as they called out the harsh review. How The Fandom Defended Superman The review was taken down, but the internet reacted strongly as they defended one of the most loved franchises of all time. One person wrote, "This seems like an effort to pull the film down." A Reddit remark read, "I still don't understand this. Everyone is a visual effects expert now. Literally every shot I've seen in the trailer has phenomenal visuals, apart from the one shot that Gunn removed. The Kaiju scene in particular was improved; that sequence looks gorgeous." Other than David Corenswet, the film also stars Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult in key roles. The film releases worldwide on July 11, 2025.
