Has Iveco Just Built The Sexiest Show Truck?

Forbes8 hours ago

Dubbed the 'Force of Nature', Iveco's new show truck has a strong green and black theme
For most people the idea of a sexy truck is an oxymoron. They're designed for hauling goods across countries and continents to supply virtually everything imaginable. Unless you're a diehard truck enthusiast, it might be difficult to see the appeal, but stick with me. The brief for this build was simple: make a poster truck. For all the kids (and adults) who adorn their walls with dream cars, Iveco wanted this custom S-Way to stand up as an aspirational symbol.
Unveiled at the biggest event of the year for UK truck operators, the Road Transport Expo, crowds gathered to watch the curtain be lifted on the new show truck. While it might look like a standard truck – with a frankly incredible hand-painted black and green livery – underneath is a powertrain that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG). As part of its strategy to help fleets decarbonise, Iveco offers a range of CNG-powered trucks which can reduce emissions by up to 95% compared to diesel.
Traditionally, a show truck of this caliber would be fitted with an absurd array of chrome lightbars, air horns and blingy accessories but that would be counterintuitive to the vehicle's mission. Since Iveco is highlighting its low emission capability, the truck needs to maintain its aerodynamic profile. It's equipped with mirror cam systems to reduce drag compared to standard mirrors.
Every detail green detail is a nod to the truck's low emission powertrain
Perhaps the star of the show truck is Iveco's xCursor 13 engine which produces 500 hp and 2200Nm of torque. This is Iveco's most powerful CNG engine and its gas storage tanks give the vehicle enough fuel to travel 500km before needing to top up. Eight CNG tanks are fitted in the chassis so no alterations are needed to the trailer or truck to meet regulatory length requirements.
Inside, the truck has a completely custom trim and takes inspiration from the motorsport world with bright green stitching, a green center line marking at the top of the steering wheel and green seatbelts. Both black leather seats have beautiful green embroidery and everywhere you look there's touches of Alcantara. Even the bedding in the sleeper cab has custom embroidery spelling our '500 CNG'.
Mike Cutts, business line director, full range UK and Ireland said: 'The reduction in emissions across fleets is a serious business, and so this statement-making vehicle represents much more than a bespoke show truck. Underpinning this vehicle is the same unmatched Iveco S-Way CNG 6x2 that is revolutionising renewable fleet capabilities. It's a product we are proud of, and clearly one that is worthy of an attention-grabbing persona.'
As of now, the show truck is a one off bespoke build
Iveco's 6x2 S-Way is built for the UK market in collaboration with Astra Vehicle Technologies. The trucks are imported in a 4x2 chassis configuration before Astra adds an extra axle to allow the tractor unit to operate at up to 44-tonnes. Compared to European markets, the UK favours a 6x2 chassis to allow greater flexibility for loads running at maximum weight. The CNG S-Way features a mid-lift axle that can be lifted to reduce fuel consumption when the truck is running empty or lighter than full load.
Iveco has announced its intentions for this truck to be a one-of-one example. Over the next year or so, it's expected to pop up all over the UK showcasing its capabilities and high specification. We've seen several manufacturers tempt the market with 'one offs' before, so if the company drums up enough demand, we might just see a limited edition run of these black and green CNG S-Ways.

Mom Fears She ‘Failed' as a Parent Because Her Grown Kids Won't Learn to Drive — and Still Rely on Her for Regular Rides

A woman said she worries she 'failed' as a parent because neither of her grown children — both in their 20s — can drive She said that she has attempted to incentivize them to learn, but they mostly 'smirk "and "roll their eyes' at her when she brings it up The woman, who said she still regularly drives them places, is thinking of withholding her 'free taxi' services, but worries it will 'damage' their relationshipA woman said she's worried she has 'failed' as a parent because neither of her grown children learned to drive — and she's now wondering if she should do something about it. The woman detailed her story in a post on the U.K.-based community site where parents can go to seek advice and input from other parents. In her post, the woman explained that she has two children in their 'early/mid twenties' and that neither can drive. 'I am feeling very down about it as I feel like I have failed to prepare them adequately for adult life. There are other things I worry about, too, but this is the most obvious one,' she said. The woman said that she has 'some sympathy' for how this happened, stating that the pandemic interrupted a pivotal period in their lives and that it was 'hard' getting everything back on track afterwards. She also said she has attempted to incentivize her kids to drive in multiple ways, including paying for driving lessons and offering to buy them a car. 'However, they just smirk at me and roll their eyes anytime I mention it,' the original poster (OP) said. 'After the latest conversation (okay, rant) with one of my children about this, it is clear that the only one feeling the consequences of this is me,' she continued, adding that she still drives her grown children around as needed and that she routinely wakes up at 6 a.m. to bring one of them to the train station so that they can get to work. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! Because of this, the OP said that she is thinking of putting her foot down and telling her children 'no more taxi service' until they learn to drive — despite worrying that this might ultimately 'damage' her relationship with them. "I realize this sounds childish of me, but I think unless I do this they will never learn to drive as I am enabling them,' the OP continued, adding, 'They say they don't learn because it's a hassle and they don't need to — but if I no longer help them out they will hopefully realize this is not true.' 'Has anyone else had this issue with their kids?' the OP asked at the end of her post. The vast majority of commenters advised the OP to set some boundaries and stop driving her adult children around. 'Stop all rides immediately. I'm pretty sure they'll change their minds about driving,' one person said. 'They're grown-ups now and need to learn that people aren't at their beck and call for things they're quite capable of sorting out themselves,' said someone else. Others said that while they don't think driving is necessarily a must-have skill in today's world, they also don't think the OP's grown kids should be relying on her for transportation. 'I'm in my 40s and don't drive. It's okay not to drive. What isn't okay is expecting you to put yourself out constantly to give [them] lifts,' one person said. Read the original article on People

'Cost him the race': F1 driver facing the axe after incident with Oscar Piastri

Alpine driver Franco Colapinto is reportedly in danger of losing his spot on the F1 team, and a crazy incident involving Oscar Piastri in the Austrian Grand Prix won't do him any favours. Piastri finished second behind McLaren teammate Lando Norris, who cut the Aussie's lead in the championship to just 15 points. But it was nearly so much worse for Piastri, who came perilously close to not finishing the race when he was inadvertently forced off track by Colapinto on lap 55. Norris and Piastri were moving past the lapped Alpine driver, who moved out of the way for Norris but didn't appear to realise Piastri was also right there. Colapinto moved straight back into Piastri's path and forced the Aussie driver onto the grass, who managed to keep his composure and get back on track. Piastri narrowly avoided disaster, but the incident cost him precious ground on Norris and ruined his chances of overtaking his teammate late in the race. Piastri was then blocked by Colapinto's Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly on lap 57, and the Aussie driver was left fuming. He reportedly said on team radio: 'Alpine still manages to find a way to f*** me over all these years later." Piastri was referencing his controversial switch from Alpine to McLaren in 2022, when Alpine tried to block the move. F1 fans were left filthy with Colapinto's mistake, with many joking he's trying to take out as many Aussies as possible. The Argentine replaced Aussie driver Jack Doohan earlier this season, who was sacked after six races. But new reports have claimed Colapinto is also in the gun after failing to impress. 'Racing News 365' is reporting that Alpine are considering dumping Colapinto as well, with pressure intensifying after the incident with Piastri that could have caused massive embarrassment for the team had it affected the championship race even more. Alpine's plan was to give Colapinto five races to show what he's capable of, and those five races are now completed. The Argentine hasn't scored a single point, but neither did Doohan in his six races. Apline had seemingly backflipped on that plan and guaranteed Colapinto's immediate future, but their stance has reportedly now changed. According to 'Racing News 365': "Alpine has informed Colapinto and his management team that the Argentinian needed to start performing." Colapinto, who was hit with a five-second penalty during the race and one penalty point on his record afterwards, said: "I'm not really concerned. I think (team principal) Flavio Briatore has been very supportive and he has trust on the decision he's made. I, and the team as well, are focusing on improving the car. We looked a bit weak today, and we just need to take some steps forward. "The car has been a bit tricky for me to drive at the moment. It's not very consistent. It's quick, but it just didn't give me the confidence I needed to push in the high speed here. It was a tough weekend. Overall, we did some steps forward, but it felt like something didn't click." Colapinto cost Piastri the race. Without that lost second from being driven off the track, Piastri would be in DRS by lap 64 or 65 and at that point, anything could have happened. — AJ Ansari (@AJAnsariX) June 29, 2025 Colapinto trying to take out every Aussie in F1 — Ignition Australia (@Ignition_AU) June 29, 2025 Almost caused him to crash and take a deep hit in the WC — juvid (@JuvidX) June 29, 2025 It wasn't the only hairy moment for Piastri on Sunday, who locked up his wheels during a dual with Norris on lap 20. "It was a good battle. A bit on the edge at times and probably pushed the limits a bit far," he admitted afterwards. "But that's what we're here to do: try and race each other and try and fight for wins. And that's what we did today. It was close for me, but not quite enough." RELATED: Oscar Piastri cops official sanction over illegal act following crash F1 fans in frenzy over return of Daniel Ricciardo with Oscar Piastri It was almost a repeat of the drama that unfolded in Montreal two weeks ago, when Norris ran up the back of Piastri and failed to finish. Team principal Andrea Stella praised Piastri's immediate accountability after the incident on Sunday, saying: "As soon as he crossed the finish line, he opened the radio and he said, 'Sorry for the situation in corner four. My bad. I know what I have to do'. We have come out stronger and even more united."
