Nashik city & Trimbakaeshwar to get 100crore optical fibre network
According to Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Limited (NMSCDCL), a total of 350km of lines will be laid in Nashik city (300km) and Trimbakeshwar town (50km) to help the authorities maintain seamless network during the Kumbh Mela. The project, estimated to cost Rs 100 crore, will be funded under the Kumbh Mela funds.
An official said the OFC network would connect key facilities like offices, police stations and hospitals, integrating closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras through command centres. This would enable authorities to implement IoT-based safety projects and sensors to ensure security and crowd management during the Kumbh Mela, the official said.
NMSCDCL has issued a request for proposal for laying the OFC lines, including their installation, testing, commissioning, operations and maintenance. "We expect the tender process to be completed by May-end. The project is expected to be completed within 15 months after the work order is allotted to the agency concerned," NMSCDCL CEO Sumant More said.

He said the designed network would provide uninterrupted services across Nashik city and Trimbakeshwar town. "With the capability to handle high bandwidth applications with low latency, the network forms the pivot for information and communication technology (ICT)-based Smart City interventions in Nashik city and Trimbakeshwar town," More added.
At least 1,300 CCTVs have already been installed in Nashik city, while another 3,500 are to be installed in view of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. "These will be connected through the OFC lines and go online through the command and controlling centres and emergency operations centre," More said.
Apart from the OFC lines, cable ducts were also to be created, which would be provided to the various authorities or organisations responsible for utility services to avoid digging of roads, More said. The OFC network would also help the Nashik Municipal Corporation even after the Kumbh Mela, he added.

Lucknow: The state govt launched a computer training scheme aimed at empowering youth from Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Under the scheme, free technical training will be provided to eligible candidates to boost digital literacy and employment prospects among marginalised communities. One can apply for this scheme through the official portal till July 14. Govt earmarked Rs 35 crore for the implementation of the scheme. Lucknow: The third edition of the Uttar Pradesh international trade show is going to be organised in Sep. The five-day event will commence on Sep 25 at Expo Mart in Greater Noida and conclude on Sep 29. With three months left for the event, officials said that efforts are underway to increase the scale and size of the event compared to the previous two editions. Apart from showcasing benefits of more than 20 sectoral policies, the state is going to focus on promoting four key policies to attract investments and offer promising opportunities to interested stakeholders. These, the official added, indicate that small traders and entrepreneurs are responding positively to the state's pro-business policies. Another KPI pointed to progress in the transport sector, highlighted by an increase in the number of newly registered transport enterprises. Against a target of 252, 375 registrations were recorded, achieving 148.80%, signalling an increase in investments in the transport sector. A year-wise comparison further highlights this growth, with 27,014 units registered from August 2022 to March 2023, generating revenue of Rs 1,856.42 lakh. UP is steadily establishing itself as one of the leading business-friendly states in the country. This KPI report reaffirms UP's march towards becoming a developed state, guided by the principles of 'Reform, Perform, and Transform,'" the official said.
