Al-Azhar condemns recent Zionist attacks on Syria urging Syrians to unite - Foreign Affairs
Egypt's Al-Azhar strongly condemned on Thursday the recent Zionist attacks on Syria, saying it reflects the occupation's agenda of spreading chaos and instability. In a statement, the Islamic institution said Israel's repeated aggression on countries and peoples of the region aims to drag the entire Middle East to the brink of explosion in pursuit of its expansionist goals. Al-Azhar added that these blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law occur amid international silence. The world's leading Islamic institution urged the Syrian people to unite despite their religious and sectarian diversity, reminding them that their strength lies in unity. The statement also called on all Syrians to stay vigilant against any attempts to divide them as part of the Zionist agenda to fragment Syria and turn the whole region into a battlefield. Furthermore, it urged the Syrian people to prioritize their country's stability and territorial integrity, which would shield them from wicked schemes. On Thursday, the Syrian government said local leaders will assume control over the city of Sweida to end the violence that has claimed hundreds of lives amid Israeli military intervention. This came as Israel launched attacks against government troops in Sweida and Damascus on Wednesday, vowing it would intensify strikes if they did not withdraw from the south. FM holds high-level talks to advance regional de-escalation as per President Sisi's directives
CAIRO, July 16 (MENA) – In line with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's directives to intensify diplomatic efforts toward de-escalating regional tensions, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty held a series of high-level talks with key international stakeholders. These included Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, US Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi. During the discussions, Abdelatty stressed the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions and resuming negotiations concerning the Iranian nuclear issue. He reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast position that military options are not viable, neither for this matter nor for other crises undermining regional stability. The talks also included an exchange of views on mechanisms to de-escalate tensions and establish a comprehensive ceasefire between Iran and Israel. They stressed the need to prevent the resumption of hostilities and reinforce a political, peaceful solution to the conflict. The talks with US Envoy Steve Witkoff addressed the ongoing intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure its sustainability. The discussion focused on advancing the process of releasing a number of hostages and detainees in exchange for halting military operations, and guaranteeing the unimpeded and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid, in light of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Strip. Abdelatty also reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of any proposals involving the establishment of temporary encampments in southern Gaza or initiatives that could result in demographic changes in the occupied Palestinian territories. He presented Egypt's proposal to host an international conference focused on early recovery and post-conflict reconstruction, to be convened following the establishment of a ceasefire. This initiative is in line with the Arab-Islamic plan aimed at speeding up Gaza's recovery and rebuilding. For his part, US Envoy Steve Witkoff commended Egypt's efforts, under the leadership of President Sisi, to advance regional peace and stability. He underscored Egypt's role as a vital strategic partner of the United States in these efforts. (MENA)

Arab League Condemns Israeli Occupation Raids on Syria
Mohamed Mandour The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States strongly condemned the raids carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on Syrian territory, including those targeting the General Staff headquarters in Damascus and the vicinity of the Presidential Palace. The General Secretariat regards these attacks as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of an Arab state, a member of both the League and the United Nations, and a breach of international law and the principles of the international order. The General Secretariat stressed that these Israeli strikes amount to acts of aggression and intimidation that can neither be accepted nor tolerated by the regional or international community, and must be brought to an immediate halt. It further noted that the occupation forces' actions are intended to destabilise Syria, taking advantage of recent developments in the Sweida Governorate—events that were denounced by the Syrian authorities themselves as "shameful acts," with a pledge to investigate and hold accountable anyone found responsible for violations or misconduct. The General Secretariat expressed its full solidarity with Syria in the face of these Israeli aggressions and urged the Syrian government to act swiftly to contain the situation, ease tensions through dialogue, and work towards the inclusion of all Syrian people within a unified national framework. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream
