Internet star demands to censor report into toddler's drowning 'to stop sleuths making AI reenactments online'

Daily Mail4 days ago
Social media star Emilie Kiser has asked that graphic details in the report of her toddler's drowning be redacted to prevent others from creating reenactments of his death.
Kiser, a popular mommy influencer, tragically lost her adorable three-year-old son Trigg on May 18 after he was found unresponsive in the family's backyard pool in Chandler, Arizona.
In a motion submitted Tuesday, Kiser requested that two pages of details documenting how her son died be censored from public view.
Her legal team, headed by attorney Kevin O'Malley, asked for this to happen over fears the details could trigger artificial intelligence reenactments online, according to AZ Central.
This is the latest update in the family's legal battle to block details of her toddler's death from the public as they have experienced a frenzy from internet sleuths.
Soon after Trigg died, many took it upon themselves to request records - including videos - related to his death.
This prompted Emilie to file a lawsuit just one week after his passing against several agencies in Maricopa County to block private information from getting out.
The Arizona Superior Court for Maricopa County ruled in her favor, granting her temporary confidentiality, meaning evidence will not be released while the court makes its final ruling on the tragedy.
In that motion, Emilie specifically urged the court to keep not just detailed records of Trigg's death private, but also footage as '100+ public record requests' for the video have come in, a source previously told Daily Mail.
The intense amount of record requests 'only serves to satisfy morbid curiosity more than any type of justice,' they added.
Kiser, who was not home at the time of the drowning, 'should not be forced to relive the aftermath through viral footage,' the source stated.
Since news of her legal filing came out, many online have speculated that Kiser chose to do so as a way to cover up information, but according to the source, that is false.
'Emilie has fully cooperated with investigators. The focus here is not on withholding information, but on safeguarding the dignity of a child and allowing a grieving family the space and privacy to heal.'
Just last week, it was announced that her husband and the father of Trigg, Brady Kiser, 28, will not face criminal charges in relation to the fatal drowning.
The decision by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office came two weeks after the Chandler Police Department recommended a felony child abuse charge for Brady.
Authorities said Emilie was not home at the time as Brady was there with Trigg and the couple's newborn son, Theodore, when the toddler accessed the backyard pool and was found unresponsive.
According to a search warrant affidavit, Brady told investigators he was distracted by the couple's infant and lost sight of Trigg for several minutes.
When he went to look for the child, he found him unconscious in the pool and called 911.
Trigg died six days later at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
'Every case submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office is evaluated using the same standard: whether there is a 'reasonable likelihood of conviction,' Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement.
'After careful review of the evidence submitted by Chandler PD, it was determined this case does not meet that standard.'
Prosecutors emphasized that, to pursue a child abuse charge, they would need to prove that Brady 'failed to perceive a substantial and unjustifiable risk' and that his actions were a 'gross deviation from the standard of care a reasonable person would show.'
His attorney, Flynn Carey, said in a statement that his client is grateful the case was thoroughly reviewed and classified as a tragic accident.
'We are grateful to law enforcement and the county attorney for conducting a thorough investigation and confirming that this was a tragic accident.
'Brady remains in the midst of the grieving process and is thankful to be with his family as they heal together,' Carey said.
'We appreciate the compassion and support shown during this difficult time.'
The Chandler Police Department said its investigation into the incident remains open.

British tourist found dead by swimming pool in Crete as three arrested on manslaughter charges

A British tourist has been found dead near a swimming pool in Greece, as three people were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. The 78-year-old was swimming in her hotel pool in Heronissos, Crete, on Sunday afternoon when she reportedly fell ill and got out of the water. Minutes later, the woman was found collapsed by a sun-lounger by shocked bathers. The Brit was given first aid before emergency services arrived on the scene and rushed her to hospital, where she later died. Three people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by negligence, including a 21-year-old lifeguard who was supposed to be on duty at the time, as well as two hotel bosses, aged 51 and 41. All three suspects have been released on bail and police have launched an investigation to determine the woman's cause of death. Daily Mail has approached the Foreign Office for comment. The tragedy in the Greek holiday hotspot comes after a Brit was found dead on his sun lounger on a popular beach. The 74-year-old man was discovered unconscious at around 12pm on Sunday, July 20, by fellow beach-goers on Stalis Beach on the popular Greek isle of Crete. The Brit, who had taken himself to the beach in a bid to enjoy the idyllic sea, went for a swim before sitting on a sun lounger to relax. However, he then became struck with a 'strong feeling' of sickness before losing consciousness, the cretapost has reported. Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (EKAB) were immediately made aware of the incident and called to the scene. Emergency services then worked tirelessly in a desperate bid to revive the elderly man, but unfortunately their efforts proved unsuccessful. An FCDO Spokesperson said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.' In a separate instance, a 73-year-old Britih man was discovered at the spot in Agia Paraskevi, Siathos, on June 20. Onlookers immediately alerting a lifeguard who was then able to provide first aid and call the emergency services. While a doctor from a nearby health center tried desperately for 40 minutes to revive the tourist, he was later tragically pronounced dead. An autopsy was set to shed light on the cause of his death.

Woman, 47, is charged with murdering three-year-old girl after her body was found in house on quiet cul-de-sac

A woman has been charged with murder after a three-year-old girl was found dead at a property in Leeds. Pippa McGrath, 47, will appear in the dock at Leeds Magistrates' Court this morning accused of killing the child. She was arrested after officers were called to a semi-detached home in Austhorpe Court following a call of concern for the safety of a young child last Wednesday. Paramedics were also called but the little girl died at the scene. McGrath was also taken to hospital and later charged with murder. Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said on Thursday: 'Sadly when emergency services attended at an address on Austhorpe Court, Leeds, yesterday the body of a 3-year-old girl was found inside. Teen learns his fate after accidentally shooting 10-year-old cousin while playing with a gun

A Wisconsin teenager has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after recklessly firing a gun that killed his 10-year-old cousin while she slept. Javier Rodriguez, now 19, was handed a 10-year prison stretch on Thursday, with credit for just under 14 months already served in custody, after admitting to killing his cousin last year. He pleaded guilty in June to second-degree reckless homicide in the May 2024 death of Isdennyeliz Ortiz, a 'bright and bubbly' fourth-grader who had just celebrated her 10th birthday weeks earlier. Following his release, Rodriguez will spend an additional eight years under supervised release, a Milwaukee County judge ruled. The tragedy unfolded shortly after 12:40am on May 31, 2024, inside a three-story home in Milwaukee where several generations of the same family lived. Isdennyeliz, affectionately known as 'Issey' to family and friends, was asleep in her mother's bed with her baby brother by her side when the bullet struck her in the chest. The round had pierced through the floor and ceiling above, where police say Rodriguez had been recklessly handling a firearm on the upper level. According to a criminal complaint, Rodriguez ran down the stairs in a panic telling the girl's mother, 'It's my fault. I'm sorry. Please forgive me.' Her 14-year-old sister later told investigators that Rodriguez repeated the same words in a panic, 'I'm sorry. It's my fault. I did it.' Her mother turned on the light, only to see her daughter bleeding and unresponsive, and a fresh bullet hole in the ceiling above her. The child died before paramedics could arrive on the scene. Rodriguez, who was 18 at the time, fled the home before police arrived but was identified on home surveillance footage and arrested days later. Security footage showed him carrying what police described as a 'tan firearm' while wearing a blue rubber glove, just before a loud bang was captured by the camera's audio. Court documents also revealed Rodriguez had fired a gun in the home once before, a month prior, although no one was injured on that occasion. Investigators recovered a small arsenal of firearms from a closet, including three loaded pistols, a drum magazine, and several boxes of ammunition. 'Now we have a family whose 10-year-old daughter is not here,' said Marty Calderon to TMJ4. Calderon is a local activist with Milwaukee's Promise Keepers, a group that responded to the family after the shooting. 'How much more do we have to keep telling people - leave guns alone,' Calderon added. The emotional weight of the sentencing was felt throughout the courtroom. Although prosecutors did not allege Rodriguez intended to kill his cousin, they argued that his reckless behavior proved fatal. Isdennyeliz Ortiz was described by loved ones as a joyful girl who loved making YouTube videos and playing volleyball. She was looking forward to an upcoming family trip to Wisconsin Dells, her mother said. 'There is no other way to describe this horrific incident other than to say it is utterly unacceptable,' said Milwaukee Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa in a statement. 'Far too many young people continue to be impacted by gun violence across our city. These gun-related incidents are wholly preventable, and we must do better to stop them.' According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Homicide Database, youth homicide victims are tragically common in the city: 12% of homicide victims in 2024 were between between 10 and 17 years old. 'We have to give people the knowledge of how to safely handle a gun, how to safely protect yourself,' said Teneen Rucker with the nonprofit Safe and Sound, which plans to host a gun violence awareness event later this summer. 'This can't keep happening.' Rodriguez had faced a potential 25-year sentence before agreeing to a plea deal in June. In court, he showed remorse and accepted responsibility for his actions but the sentence, family members say can never bring back the child they lost. As part of the judge's ruling, Rodriguez is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms for the rest of his life.
