PKR divisional polls: Outcome of objections to be known next week
Dr Zaliha, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), said the committee is currently awaiting reports before making a final decision.
'It will take time as we need to thoroughly review all objections and complaints before coming to a conclusion.
'There are several objections involving divisional results and we will announce the outcome next week,' she told reporters after the launch of the Warisan KL: Warisan Ibu Kota Malaysia MADANI project by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, here today.
Yesterday, Dr Zaliha said any objections and appeals submitted by PKR leaders over the divisional-level election results would be assessed by the Complaints Committee and the Appeals Committee before further action is taken.
She said the Complaints Committee, chaired by Datuk Ahmad Kassim, will evaluate all objections and complaints, while the Appeals Committee, chaired by Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar, will handle appeals.
Among those who have filed formal objections with the JPP is Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, following his defeat in the contest for the Johor Bahru division chief post.
Other leaders who have taken similar steps include PKR communications director Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya), deputy information chief Chua Wei Kiat (Selayang), and Sungai Siput MP Kesavan Subramaniam, who has lodged an official appeal with the JPP after narrowly losing in the Sungai Siput division.

JAKIM creates module to prevent extremism among foreign workers
KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) is working on a new module to tackle the spread of extremist beliefs among foreign workers in the country. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the arrests on July 4. In a separate update, Mohd Na'im shared that corporate zakat collections for the first quarter of 2024 reached RM76 million, with RM53 million contributed by 23 companies, including Tabung Haji and Bank Islam. Freedom of speech must not be misused for slander
KUALA LUMPUR: Every PKR member has the right to express their views, but this must be exercised with discipline and responsibility, without resorting to slander or defamatory remarks, said its vice president, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan. He said freedom of speech is a core strength of both the party and the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, but it must be practised ethically. "This is the strength and greatness of PKR and the current government, where everyone has the right to speak. But I want to remind everyone, do not spread slander. In Islam, slander is considered a sin worse than murder. "We have freedom of speech, but when it is misused to slander others, that freedom is lost. There is nothing wrong with voicing opinions, as long as they are based on facts and expressed with discipline," he said. He was speaking after officiating the launch of Changemakers IICS and a social entrepreneurship seminar organised by the Malaysian Entrepreneurship Institute here today. Present were the ministry's deputy secretary-general (policy and monitoring) Noor Afifah Abdul Razak, Insken's chief executive officer (CEO) Viviantie Sarjuni and Subang INTI International College CEO Dr Jane Lim. Ramanan, who is also Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister said PKR remains stable under the leadership of Anwar, who will continue to serve as the party's president and prime minister. PKR members warned against abusing freedom of speech in party
SUBANG JAYA: PKR members have been cautioned against misusing their right to freedom of speech within the party. The warning came from PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, who stressed the importance of ethical and responsible expression. Speaking to the media after launching The Changemakers at INTI International College Subang and a seminar by the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), Ramanan emphasised that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it should not be exploited to spread falsehoods.
