Charlotte 49ers sell out of football season tickets for the first time
Why it matters: Selling out season tickets is a first for the program and an important milestone for a team that's slated to soon break ground on a $70 million stadium expansion.
By the numbers: The 49ers have surpassed 6,000 season tickets, according to a program spokesperson.
Zoom in: They're scheduled to play six home games this season, starting with the North Carolina Tar Heels on Sept. 6 at 7pm. This will be Bill Belichick's first away game as the Tar Heels' head coach.
Roughly 2,400 additional seats will be placed in the east concourse above the 49ers' student section to meet the ticket demand that game, bringing Jerry Richardson Stadium's seated capacity to around 17,700.
There will also be space for standing room only tickets, per the program.
Flashback: The 49ers' record for a home game is 19,151 vs. Appalachian State in 2019.
They sold out four of their six home games last season.
What we're watching: This will be the 49ers' first season under head coach Tim Albin, and the 49ers are looking to return to a bowl game for the first time since 2019.
They'll play at Bank of America Stadium for the first time on Aug. 29 when they take on Appalachian State in the Duke's Mayo Classic.
What's next: Single-game tickets go on sale to the general public on July 8. Tickets for a three-game flex plan are on sale and include the North Carolina game. Subject to availability, single-game tickets for the North Carolina game will become available closer to the game.

Bill Belichick highlights impact of transfer portal on UNC's 2025 football roster
Exactly how many transfers joined the UNC football program this offseason? If you don't recognize many players on this year's UNC football roster, that's because of several 2024 departures and 2025 transfer portal additions. North Carolina will enter its highly-anticipated season with new starters across the board. The Tar Heels will have a new starting quarterback for the third-consecutive fall, a young wide receiver room and entirely new defensive line, which replaces every 2024 starter. On Saturday morning at UNC's first day of Training Camp, head coach Bill Belichick spoke extensively about his new team's roster overhaul, highlighting how he looked to fill positions through the spring portal. "We have a lot of new players, a little over 40 from the spring and 70 guys that weren't on last year's team," Belichick said. "The first portal, we're just trying to find guys to fill the team. Second portal, we're looking for good football players. We felt like any position, if the player wanted to come in and compete – and we thought it was a good player – then this is the right spot for him. We'll give everybody an opportunity to compete. We're going to have to earn our spots on the field.' One of North Carolina's latest portal additions is Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson, who played a major role in helping the Broncos make their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance last season. Simpson started 11 games – and should slot in as a Day One starter for the Tar Heels. North Carolina didn't know if Max Johnson, its 2024 initial starting quarterback, would be ready by the start of training camp. The Tar Heels nabbed South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez, who thrived in 2024 as a first-time starting QB, in the transfer portal. Jordon Hudson takes subtle shot at NFL reporter after Bill Belichick crack
Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend of North Carolina Tar Heels coach Bill Belichick, appeared to throw some subtle shade at a Cleveland Browns beat reporter on Saturday. journalist Mary Kay Cabot cracked a joke about Belichick in apparent reference to Hudson while giving a speech after she received the Bill Nunn Memorial Award. The honor is given to a reporter from the Professional Football Writers of America for their "long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage." Cabot started to cover the Browns in 1991, when Belichick initially took over as head coach. She said in her speech that Belichick would call her and "yell" at her if she wrote something he didn't like. "Now I totally understand why Bill gave such a hard time," Cabot added, via "I was 28 at the time and he just couldn't relate to a woman that old." Hudson is 24 years old and the relationship she has with Belichick was a huge talking point in the spring after an interview with CBS. Hudson appeared to try to shut questioning about their relationship down, and it shed light on some of the inner workings of what's going on between the two. Hudson appeared to catch wind of the joke and reposted criticism that others had. "Not much of a 'laugh,'" the critical post read. "No wonder so many have contempt for the media, especially those who want to be the story rather than roprt (sic) on the story." The frenzy around Belichick and Hudson's relationship has simmered since its peak in the spring. Belchick is gearing up for his first season as the Tar Heels' head coach. North Carolina's season begins on Sept. 1 against TCU.

Browns reporter takes savage shot at Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson romance in Hall of Fame speech
Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot took a brutal jab at Bill Belichick's highly publicized romance with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson on Friday when she accepted the Bill Nunn Memorial Award during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Gold Jacket Dinner in Canton, Ohio. Cabot, who began covering the Browns in 1991, the same year Belichick, 73, took over as coach in Cleveland, first joked about going through the wringer with the future Hall of Famer. 'Bill Belichick was the first Browns coach I ever covered,' Cabot began, as covered by Awful Announcing. 'You see, if you start out with Bill Belichick, no one can rattle you after that. If Bill didn't like something I wrote, he'd call and yell at me. If you asked a dumb question, he'd call you out. Eventually, I had to learn to stand up to him. During one of those yelling matches, I told him, if you don't have the 'footballs' to say that to the guys, then don't say it to me. Bam.'
