Here's everything you'll eat and drink at the 2025 Governors Ball
Governors Ball will soon return for its big 15th anniversary, as well as its third consecutive year at Queens' Flushing Meadows Corona Park. And with the fan-favorite summer music festival serving up a stacked performance lineup that includes headliners Tyler, the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and Hozier from June 6 to 8, you're going to need some serious sustenance to fuel the festivities.
And, as usual, the Gov Ball organizers are certainly delivering, with 45 food-and-drink vendors taking to the festival grounds this year. On the tasty-sounding spread are both local and national options, including pizza from Roberta's, sweet treats from Fan-Fan Doughnuts, burgers from Smash & Grab, cooling scoops from Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, pan-fried gyoza from Destination Dumplings, and much more. Mozzarella sticks, tender empanadas, hot dogs, frozen popsicles—the food menu is packed with a wide array of one-handed snacks that will allow you to nosh and mosh at the same time.

As was the case last year, fans of the Queens Night Market will recognize several vendors like Mao's Bao, Eemas Cuisine, Twisted Potato, and Matyldas Polish Food, all of whom will be setting up shop at Gov Ball. There will also be free goodies available from festival partners, including complimentary grilled cheese bites from Cabot Creamery and a spicy popcorn chicken collab between Stella Artois and Hot Ones.
On the beverage docket, you'll have the aforementioned Stella Artois as well as Kona Big Wave, NÜTRL Vodka Seltzer, Espolòn Blanco Tequila (pouring margaritas, palomas and "a few spicy surprises"), Hennessy (serving cocktails such as the Berry Mojito, Hennessy Pineapple and the Henny-Rita), 400 Conejos Mezcal, Beatbox party punch and Smirnoff Ice, among others.

The Carbone crew will helm restaurants in the $8 billion Citi Field-adjacent Metropolitan Park
The team behind Carbone is stepping up to the plate in Queens. Major Food Group (Torrisi, The Grill, Sadelle's) has signed on to operate a slate of restaurants and bars within the forthcoming Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at Metropolitan Park, an $8 billion mega-development slated to rise near Citi Field by 2030. While MFG won't operate every eatery on the property, its involvement is a strong signal that this won't be your average food court casino. Expect a stylish blend of fine dining and high-end casual concepts, with menus that reflect Queens' rich culinary heritage—and a personal connection, too. Co-founder and chef Mario Carbone hails from the borough. The move is part of a broader, international partnership between Major Food Group and Hard Rock International, formalized in early 2024. Under the deal, MFG serves as culinary advisor across Hard Rock's portfolio, including properties in Hollywood, Tampa, Atlantic City and upcoming outposts in Athens and Barcelona. The team even staged a Carbone residency at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in Florida last December. 'This is a truly unique opportunity,' said MFG co-founder Jeff Zalaznick in a press release announcing the partnership last year, 'to bring MFG's deep expertise and innovation together with a hotel and casino leader to provide incredible food and beverage experiences for Hard Rock guests at locations both here and abroad.' Metropolitan Park itself is a massive swing at reimagining the 50-acre sea of parking lots around the Mets' home turf. In addition to the casino and hotel, the project includes new parks, sports fields, a live music venue and a 30,000-square-foot food hall called Taste of Queens, a curated lineup of more than 20 vendors from across the borough, in the spirit of Queens Night Market (but indoors and year-round). Backed by Mets owner Steve Cohen, the proposal has faced its share of scrutiny, including environmental concerns and community opposition to the development of a casino. Still, several Queens community boards approved the plan in November 2024 and a final decision from the state's Gaming Facility Location Board is expected by the end of 2025.

Last chance to watch award winning crime comedy with 'best actor out there' for free
Fans have just days to watch it before it's taken down BBC viewers have a limited time left to stream a highly-rated crime comedy film for free. BlacKkKlansman is currently accessible on the BBC iPlayer at no extra charge. However, it's set to be taken off the platform on July 8 as announced by the broadcaster. This means that, as of now, movie enthusiasts have less than a fortnight to take advantage of this opportunity. The film narrates the story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American detective who sets out to infiltrate his town's local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist hate group. The storyline is based on real events and the autobiography of the actual Ron Stallworth, a black police officer who managed to infiltrate a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. In the film, Stallworth is played by John David Washington, known for his roles in Tenet and The Creator and also being the son of Denzel Washington. Adam Driver portrays a fellow detective assisting Stallworth with his mission, while Topher Grace plays the role of David Duke, who was the grand master wizard of the Ku Klux Klan during that period, reports Birmingham Live. Despite its historical roots, some scenes are dramatised for impact and deviate from absolute accuracy. Nonetheless, director Spike Lee received accolades from both fans and critics for his handling of such a topic. When it first premiered in 2018, one critic described it as: "Lee's most purely entertaining film since Inside Man in 2006, BlacKkKlansman has a timeliness that taps into an imperative national conversation." Another critic agreed, noting: "Blackkklansman helps Spike Lee finally land in the Best Director field where he deserved a place years ago." Although the film did secure an Oscar for Lee, the recognition came in the Best Adapted Screenplay category rather than for directing. Reflecting on the impact of the film, one viewer observed: "An all time great movie on American history and its future. A terrific plot and acting I can't say much more then this. It is a must watch for anyone that likes films about the evils in the world. Not so much as a eye widener as much as a of a jaw dropper. Just fantastic". The central performances were also lauded by another viewer, who praised: "John David Washington is possibly the best actor out right now. His father has an aura that steals any scene and role, but John's range is phenomenal. He has the ability to make you forget who he is in the character, but love the character. He and Adam driver work so well together. Great movie." Further acclaim for the film came from another individual who commented: "BlacKkKlansman masterfully blends biting satire with powerful social commentary, delivering a gripping and thought-provoking narrative that is both entertaining and deeply resonant."
