The New York Mets are back on track, and star slugger Juan Soto is a big reason why. The 26-year-old has a four-game hitting streak, which coincides with the team's four-game winning streak.

Soto did damage against the New York Yankees on Friday and Saturday, going 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, and two runs scored in Friday's 6-5 win before going 1-for-3 with a RBI and a walk in Saturday's 12-6 win. The former World Series champion is now slashing .267/.401/.514 with 21 homers and 51 RBI over 89 games this season.
While Soto is known for his effectiveness at the plate, bunting has never been a big part of his game. However, the four-time All-Star bunted against his former team in the first inning of Saturday's game.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza commented on it after the contest, via SNY.

"That's part of the show," he said with a laugh. "I definitely want him swinging the bat there, right? At anytime. But I trust a lot of these guys with the decision-making. He got it down, and we hit a grand slam after that."

Soto's sacrifice bunt moved Francisco Lindor to second base and Starling Marte to third. Pete Alonso then walked before Brandon Nimmo hit a 387-foot grand slam to right center.
The Mets clinched a series win over the Yankees on Saturday and would finish the sweep with a victory on Sunday. Southpaw pitcher Max Fried will start for the Yankees against Mets southpaw Brandon Waddell.
The game will start at 1:40 p.m. EST at Citi Field.

Yankees Predicted to Replace Trent Grisham With Top Slugging Prospect

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The New York Yankees are in the midst of a brutal skid that has seen them give up the lead in the American League East division. With the Yankees suffering a cold snap at the plate and another harsh pitching setback with a season ending injury to pitcher Clarke Schmidt, the team's losing streak grew to six games on Saturday. And even if they're able to turn things around in the second half of this season, they face some significant questions in the outfield going forward. The Yankees have enjoyed a breakout season from outfielder Trent Grisham, but Max Goodman of predicted that means they will lose him in the offseason. "Trent Grisham is a free agent at the end of the season, so he'll likely seek out a multi-year deal elsewhere," Goodman wrote. "He's made himself a lot of money with the way he's performed this season in pinstripes." (Photo by) More The same could be said for Cody Bellinger, who was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Cubs and will have the chance to opt out of his deal at the end of this debut campaign with the Yankees. As a result, Goodman suggested the Yankees could pair superstar Aaron Judge with young slugger Jasson Dominguez and top-ranked prospect Spencer Jones in the outfield next year. "As much as Jones has had his low points down on the farm, he's had a career-best campaign this year," Goodman noted. "If the Yankees hold on to those two youngsters, there's a real scenario where both end up in the starting outfield beginning next spring next to Judge." Jones has been one of the most tantalizing young pieces in the Yankees system since he was drafted in the first round three years ago, with a similar build to Judge and similar power at the plate. Since a recent promotion to Triple-A, he has slashed .393/.486/.821. If he can maintain that level of production, Jones might find himself on the big-league roster soon with Grisham playing himself into a long-term contract somewhere else. Cody Bellinger's sparkling catch and throw save Yankees as they take finale against Mets

Aaron Judge hit his 33rd home run, left fielder Cody Bellinger started a pivotal double play and the New York Yankees stopped a six-game losing streak by beating the Mets 6-4 Sunday to avoid a weekend Subway Series sweep. Max Fried (11-2) improved to 9-1 in 12 starts after Yankees losses after Judge staked him to a 5-0 lead with a two-run homer in the fifth off Brandon Waddell, part of Judge's three-RBI day. After Judge's sacrifice fly restored a two-run lead in the seventh, Juan Soto hit a sinking drive that Bellinger scooped with a shoestring catch that had 30% possibility. Bellinger made a 89.9 mph throw to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt that doubled up Francisco Lindor, who didn't slide. That was the second of three double plays in consecutive innings by a Yankees defense that has been shaky of late. Hayden Senger grounded into a double play with the bases loaded in the sixth, and Judge followed with a tumbling catch on Starling Marte's liner. Goldschmidt turned an unassisted double play in the eighth, gloving Brett Baty's hard grounder, tagging Ronny Mauricio and stepping on first base. The Yankees, who tumbled from the AL East lead by losing 16 of 22 games, had matched their longest losing streak. They stopped the Mets' four-game winning streak. Austin Wells homered in the third off Zach Pop (0-1), who made his Mets debut. Francisco Lindor hit a two-run single in the fifth off Fried (11-2). Devin Williams pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save in 13 chances. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was ejected by plate umpire John Bacon after a pair of called strikes on Luis Torrens starting the inning, the first that appeared to be outside and the second that seemed low. The game ended when Lindor couldn't check his swing on a strikeout with Soto on deck. Mendoza was ejected for the second time this season, both in a nine-day span. KEY MOMENTS After Lindor's hit, Fried struck out Soto and retired Pete Alonso on a deep flyout. KEY STAT Judge has 11 first-pitch homers, equaling a career high. UP NEXT Yankees: Rookie Will Warren (5-4, 5.02 ERA) opposes visiting Seattle and RHP Logan Gilbert (2-2, 3.40) on Tuesday night. Mets: Clay Holmes (8-4, 2.99) faces rookie Brandon Young (0-3, 7.02 ERA) at Baltimore on Tuesday.

Michigan Wolverines, Sherrone Moore Suffer Major Recruiting Loss

Michigan Wolverines, Sherrone Moore Suffer Major Recruiting Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Michigan Wolverines and head coach Sherrone Moore are hopeful to take a big leap in the right direction during the upcoming 2025 college football season. Advertisement After finishing the 2024 campaign with an 8-5 record, including beating the eventual champion Ohio State Buckeyes in the final game of the regular season, the program appears to be back on track. Moore has done an excellent job of replacing Jim Harbaugh. He has continued recruiting well and has the Wolverines heading in the right direction. Unfortunately, Michigan suffered some bad recruiting news on Saturday. According to a report from college football insider Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, the Wolverines have lost the commitment of 2026 four-star cornerback Brody Jennings. He has reportedly flipped his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes. Advertisement "BREAKING: Four-Star CB Brody Jennings has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Miami, he tells me for @rivals," Fawcett wrote. "The 6'1 180 CB from Jacksonville, FL had been committed to the Wolverines since July 2024." According to Rivals, Jennings is the No. 29 ranked cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class. He is also the No. 294 ranked player in the nation and the No. 41 ranked player in the state of Florida. Michigan Wolverines head football coach Sherrone Moore.© Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images Currently, Michigan holds the No. 9 ranked recruiting class in 2026. Moore has received commitments from quite a few top-tier players, although there is more work to be done. Losing out on Jennings is a tough break for the Wolverines. He has legitimate star potential at the college level. Unfortunately, it's a setback, but it's a setback that Michigan can bounce back from quickly.
