Bello strikes out 10 in complete-game effort as Red Sox beat Rockies 10-2 for 5th straight win
Bello (5-3), who had seven strikeouts after one trip through the Colorado lineup, gave up five hits and one walk. He threw a rain-shortened, six-inning complete game on Sept. 25, 2022, a 2-0 loss to the Yankees.
Ceddanne Rafaela hit a two-run double during a four-run rally in the sixth, followed by a six-run outbreak in the seventh when Story homered and Jarren Duran added a solo shot. Boston had 10 or more hits for the sixth straight game.
Hunter Goodman ended the shutout bid with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, but Bello struck out Ryan McMahon for the final out.
Goodman's infield single on a hard grounder that handcuffed third baseman Nate Eaton in the fourth was Colorado's only hit until Brenton Doyle blooped a single to left in the eighth.
The Rockies tied last year's Chicago White Sox as the only teams to lose 71 games before the All-Star break.
Kyle Freeland (1-10) pitched five shutout innings before running into trouble in the sixth when Story singled to shallow right to dive in Romy Gonzalez with the game's first run. Freeland allowed three runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He also struck out six and walked two.

Rays slugger Junior Caminero announced Wednesday that he will take part in the Home Run Derby on Monday night in Atlanta, then learned hours later that he would start at third base for the AL squad in the All-Star Game the following night. Perez and Caglianone power Royals to 4-3 win over Pirates for 3-game sweep
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Salvador Perez homered twice, Jac Caglianone hit the longest measured homer by a Royals rookie, and Kansas City beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep. Perez broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning with his longball off Isaac Mattson (2-1). He opened the scoring with a 444-foot shot to center in the second. But the most impressive homer of the game belonged to Caglianone — a 466-foot, two-run drive to center in the fourth against Bailey Falter. It was the longest homer by a Royals rookie since Statcast started tracking in 2015 and the fourth-longest by any Kansas City player at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals have won six of seven overall. They did not have a multi-homer game this season before doing it Monday night against Pittsburgh, and now they've done it three games in a row. Kansas City hit nine homers in the series. Pittsburgh fell to 0-6 on its nine-game trip ahead of the All-Star break after getting shut out in three straight games at Seattle. Wood, Lowe HRs power Washington past Cardinals 8-2 as Cairo earns 1st win as Nats' interim manager

LOUIS (AP) — James Wood hit his 24th homer, Nathaniel Lowe added a three-run shot and the Washington Nationals beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-2 Wednesday night to give interim manager Miguel Cairo his first victory. Cairo took over when Washington fired manager Dave Martinez and president of baseball operations Mike Rizzo hour after a 6-4 loss to Boston on Sunday. Wood hit a solo homer in the seventh inning with an exit velocity of 115.9 mph that traveled 433 feet to center field. Wood has been named an All-Star and will take part in the Home Run Derby. Lowe staked Washington to a lead in the first inning with his 14th homer of the season. The Nationals added three more runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Alex Call and a bloop single with the bases loaded by Jacob Young that scored two runs. Amed Rosario hit a solo homer, his fifth, in the fifth inning, for a 7-1 lead.
