WWE WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans 'cancelled' in unprecedented shake up

Metro23-05-2025
WWE WrestleMania 42 is no longer taking place in New Orleans amid reports of a return to Las Vegas in 2026.
The Big Easy was set to host the annual sports entertainment extravaganza, which aired live on Netflix for the first time ever last month, in April 2026, but unprecedented changes have been made with 11 months to go.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson had announced the city as the host of the 2026 show, but it's instead set to get Money In The Bank in the summer.
The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation told Wrestlenomics: 'The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership.'
They added that this 'will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money In The Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania – which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year'.

In a video statement on X, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque added on Friday: 'I'm sure everyone saw our joint statement yesterday regarding the shift in some of the dates on the WWE calendar.

'Today I want to announce the first of those, one of which we're very excited about. Coming to New Orleans on Saturday August 29th, 2026 will be Money In The Bank.'
Hailing the show as one of the biggest in WWE's calendar, he added that it's a night of 'high stakes' and 'amazing drama', while teasing: 'Stay tuned for more details on a WrestleMania coming to New Orleans, which will be announced at a later date.'
This is a first for WrestleMania – WWE has never changed a host city or state in this way, although in 2020 WrestleMania 36 was moved from Tampa's Raymond James Stadium to the Performance Center in Orlando due to the pandemic.
For years, fans have been calling for WWE to give WrestleMania an international flavour, particularly after the success of events like Clash At The Castle, Backlash in Lyon, France a year ago, and Bash In Berlin, but there could be longer to wait if Sin City emerges as a repeat destination for 2026.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan previously held talks with WWE chief content officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan, with both sides hinting it as a possibility.
Khan reiterated his commitment in a report last month focused on the economic impact that major sporting events have on the UK capital's economy.
'Building on London's success, the Mayor has talked up his ambition to bring more of the biggest sporting events in the world to London,' the report read.
'Sadiq has expressed his support for a bid for the Olympics and Paralympics to return to London in 2040, while he remains committed to making London WrestleMania's first international destination.' More Trending
As far back as July 2023, Triple H heaped praise on the UK fans while suggesting it was an option.
He told Metro: 'Look, as I said earlier, I have been coming here since the early 90s, and it's spectacular. Some of my favourite events here ever – my favourite things I did in my career have happened here, even sometimes without the benefit of television or it broadcast anywhere else.'
He added: 'We are a global company. We intend to be a global company, we intend to be global. So, never say never for any of it. The intent is there.' them.'

Debbie's public outburst leaves Corrie character in shock in new video

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) feels concerned in Coronation Street soon as Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) lashes out while at work. Beloved character Debbie was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year. For months, the only person who knew about her health secret was brother Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard). Debbie refused to tell anyone else about it, adamant that she could handle it on her own. This approach lasted until June. At Speed Daal, Debbie collapsed in front of her loved ones, who immediately told her she needed to go to hospital. Debbie said that wouldn't be needed as she already knows what's wrong. Determined to not be defined by her illness, Debbie is still working at her hotels. In upcoming episodes though, Ryan begins to wonder if this is still a wise idea. In this new video, Debbie and Ryan are at the reception desk faced with an angry woman, who claims she didn't sleep at all because of her allergies – and that is somehow the hotel's fault. As the woman starts filming, Debbie has no qualms about entertaining it and speaks to the camera, announcing that the hotel's duvets and pillows are hypo-allergenic for customers, but she does not have an ability to control the pollen count outside. Lacking in empathy, Debbie heads off, leaving Ryan concerned. In the scenes after this, Ryan steps in and manages to smooth the situation over, apologising to the guest and persuading her to delete the footage of Debbie's outburst. More Trending In response, Debbie grabs Ryan and kisses him full on the lips as her way of saying thank you. She obviously doesn't see anything inappropriate in what she's done. Ryan is shocked, but realises that both the outburst and the kiss could be caused by Debbie's dementia. He confides in Ronnie about what happened and tells him that he's worried about her. Ronnie is deeply concerned by what Ryan has told him. Later, Debbie is angry with Ryan, who tells her that he was simply looking out for her because he's a friend and he cares about her. Ellen DeGeneres would 'love' UK talk show as she moves on from bullying scandal

Ellen DeGeneres has said she'd 'love' to host a talk show in the UK after moving over from the US. However, there's one problem. The American comedian, 67, moved to Britain with her wife, Portia de Rossi, 52, in November last year, deciding to set up a new life here after Donald Trump was re-elected. While she tends to keep a low profile these days, this weekend, Ellen made her first public appearance since relocating, joining a conversation with Richard Bacon at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. She reflected on the bullying scandal that rocked her hit talk show in the States, ultimately leading to a decline in popularity and its full cancellation in 2022. After fronting over 3,000 episodes, Ellen hosted her final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May of that year, having been engulfed by accusations of a toxic workplace and at the centre of a wider investigation. Despite it leading to a decline in viewership, Ellen has remained defiant in the face of the allegations, now saying she'd jump at the chance to replicate some success in the UK. But while she misses her old chat show 'a lot', she isn't sure its format would work anymore, as she explained tonight in quotes obtained by BBC. 'I mean, I wish it did, because I would do the same thing here. I would love to do that again,' she admitted. 'But I just feel like people are watching on their phones, or people aren't really paying attention as much to televisions, because we're so inundated with information and entertainment.' Ellen confessed to having no plans for what she wants to do next, but she'll be planning her future career moves 'very carefully'. 'I just don't know what that is yet,' she stated, declaring that she does want to have 'fun' after growing 'bored' in recent months, now that she's not in front of the bright lights and cameras. Ellen, who now lives in a sprawling Cotswolds mansion, previously spoke about being 'cancelled' by the internet when she was accused of being 'mean' to staff behind the scenes. She once called the accusations of toxicity behind the cameras of her show 'orchestrated' and 'misogynistic', later telling her 2024 tour crowd that she struggled with knowing how to confront the matter. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'No matter what, any article that came up, it was like, 'She's mean,' and it's like, how do I deal with this without sounding like a victim or 'poor me' or complaining? But I wanted to address it,' she said in the accompanying Netflix stand-up special. 'It's as simple as I'm a direct person, and I'm very blunt, and I guess sometimes that means that… I'm mean?' The accusations against Ellen and her talk show gained widespread media attention when the complainants came forward in 2020. The host was said to have enabled not only the 'toxic' atmosphere but also 'racism, fear, and intimidation'. Furthermore, Ellen was accused of failing to address higher-ups sexually harassing female employees and directing 'racist micro-aggressions and abuse' towards employees of colour. Other accusations included staff members being fired for taking medical and bereavement leave. After the internal probe into the show's culture, three producers were sacked for alleged misconduct, with Ellen giving an on-air apology in her final show opening. Ellen, who had also vowed to retreat from showbiz for good after fulfilling her contractual commitments, now admits that life is 'just better' in the UK, having splashed out on a blissful 43-acre property in the countryside. Speaking tonight about her big move, she revealed she and former actress wife Portia, whom she wed in 2008, originally wanted it to be a 'part-time house'. They had planned to spend three or four months a year in the UK, but she now confirms it's true that the last US election swayed her decision. More Trending 'We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in',' she recalled. 'And we're like, 'We're staying here'.' Ellen and Portia—who was present in the audience along with several other family members and celebs when Ellen's show ended—first met at a party in 2000. In their first joint interview in 2009, Portia confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she knew she loved Ellen the moment she laid eyes on her. Got a story?
