WrestleMania 42 location: WWE event returns to Las Vegas for second straight year
WrestleMania is headed back to Sin City. WWE will hold WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium for the second consecutive year, the company announced. It will be held April 18-19, with WrestleMania weekend events like SmackDown, the Hall of Fame Ceremony, NXT Stand and Deliver, and Raw After WrestleMania also taking place in the city. Advertisement Wrestling's grandest event returns to Las Vegas after WrestleMania 41 took place there this year on April 19-20. This will be the second time in WWE history that WrestleMania will take place at the same venue in back-to-back years. The first instance was in 1988 and 1989 when WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V was held at the Atlantic City Convention Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The announcement comes weeks after WWE decided to move the host city for the 2026 edition of the event. In February, The Rock revealed during an episode of SmackDown that WrestleMania 42 would take place at the Caesars Superdome April 11-12. However, that changed three months later. In a joint statement with TKO Group Holdings, Inc., owner of WWE, The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation said WrestleMania 42 wouldn't take place in Louisiana, and instead the city would get the event in the future and New Orleans would get Money in the Bank 2026. No reason was given for why WWE changed plans. Digital screens display WrestleMania logos during the Undisputed WWE Championship match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes during WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 20, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Why did WWE choose Las Vegas for WrestleMania 42? WWE did not specify why it opted to run it back in the same arena, but the idea of bringing WrestleMania back to Las Vegas was likely too enticing to pass up. Advertisement Not long after the news about the location being moved, reported Las Vegas was the leading contender to host. While it wasn't an ideal decision for most fans since WrestleMania just took place there and the show has traditionally gone around the U.S., it made sense why the move was made. WrestleMania 42 was a major success for WWE with the largest gate for any event in its history, with more than 124,000 fans for both nights. The event also broke merchandise, sponsorship and hospitality experiences records. WWE also was granted upwards of $4.24 million in tax credits for having the event in the city, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Plus, it can't be forgotten that TKO Group Holdings Inc., owner of WWE, also owns UFC, which is based in Las Vegas. Ownership's familiarity with the location and how to maximize profits from it is an easy move. The Las Vegas Strip was the ideal place to hold multiple events within close proximity of each other, rather than having to jump around different parts of the city. Mix in the fact the city is a top tourist destination, fans will definitely take over, generating millions for Las Vegas. WrestleMania 41 was too big of a success to not try again. WrestleMania Las Vegas history With WrestleMania returning to Allegiant Stadium, it will be the third time the event takes place in Las Vegas. Besides WrestleMania 41 in 2025, the first time it happened in the city was in 1993 when WrestleMania 9 took place at Caesar's Palace. It was a notable event since it was the first time WWE held the event outdoors. Advertisement For most the early years, WrestleMania was held in arenas, but it has taken place in stadiums since WrestleMania 23 in 2007 – with the exception of WrestleMania 36 due to COVID-19. This will mark the third WWE event Allegiant Stadium has hosted in its short history. SummerSlam 2021 took place at the indoor stadium and was the first professional wrestling event to happen there. The attendance of that event was 51,326. While it hasn't been confirmed, T-Mobile Arena is likely to host the shows part of the weekend. SmackDown, NXT Stand and Deliver and Raw After WrestleMania took place at the arena, and the Hall of Fame ceremony was at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas hotel. WrestleMania 41 was headlined as John Cena's final one as 2025 is his final year of in-ring competition. He beat Cody Rhodes in the main event to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship and become a record 17-time champion. Super Bowl LIX Generated $1.25 Billion For Louisiana
The third time in a row might not have been a charm for the back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, but the 11th time provided a financial windfall for New Orleans. Super Bowl LIX — the 11th Super Bowl hosted in the Big Easy — brought in $1.25 billion to Louisiana's economy. 'It was an incredible impact,' Jay Cicero, the president/CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee, exclusively shared. That economic impact was greater than the Super Bowl LVIII, the Super Bowl played the year before. And it was more than double the previous Super Bowl in New Orleans. That Super Bowl XLVII week, leading up to and including the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 3, 2013, created an economic impact of $480 million. Though slightly less than the $1.3 billion economic activity generated from Super Bowl LVII in Arizona — which also featured the same Philadelphia Eagles-Chiefs matchup — Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans impressively outpaced the $1 billion worth of spending in Las Vegas from Super Bowl LVIII. Although last year's game represented the first Super Bowl for Las Vegas, Super Bowl LIX enabled New Orleans to tie Miami as the city that has held the big game the most times. More than the increase in foot traffic, Kennedy Smith, vice president of marketing for Caesars New Orleans Hotel and Casino, noticed the uptick in spending. The people, who travel in for a Super Bowl, are typically high-rollers, and those in the casino spent 90% of their time at table games rather than cheaper slot machines. 'This was a lot more quality over quantity,' Smith said. 'The average play per customer — that's where we saw the huge spike.' Smith's observations follow the data collected from the LSU Center for Economics, Business and Policy Research; New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee; NFL and sponsors. Las Vegas had more visitors last year. (More than 260,000 visitors descended on the Nevada city just for the week's experience and did not even go to the game.) But the New Orleans visitors spent more per capita. Gross visitor spending in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII surpassed $877 million, and visitors in town for the Super Bowl spent an average of $2,660. New Orleans welcomed approximately 100,000 visitors, and their average duration of stay was 3.5 nights. The visitors, who attended Super Bowl LIX, spent an average of $5,553, generating a total of $351.6 million, and those, who came to Louisiana for the Super Bowl but did not attend the game, spent an average of $4,246, resulting in $148.6 million. To accommodate that influx of business, Caesars New Orleans added hundreds of temporary staff, housing them in Biloxi, Miss. and bussing them in each day. That's just one example of the 9,787 jobs created by Super Bowl LIX. Including the Caesars New Orleans, the Crescent City has 26,000 downtown hotel rooms in a two-mile triangle between the sports district (anchored by the Caesars Superdome), the business district (America's sixth largest convention center) and leisure district (the French Quarter). Unlike sprawling locations of many of the previous Super Bowls in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Miami and next year's game in the Bay Area, New Orleans had the advantage of being more centralized. 'We're a very compact city,' said Walt Leger, president and CEO of New Orleans & Company (formerly known as the New Orleans Convention and Visitor's Bureau.) Having adopted the 'Built to Host' mantra, New Orleans has been the home for Final Fours, college football national championships, NBA All-Star Games and, of course, Mardi Gras, an annual, two-week celebration. 'We're used to these big events,' Cicero said. Cicero said the main difference he noticed between Super Bowl LIX and New Orleans' previous Super Bowl was the number of special and corporate events, including Super Bowl LIX Opening Night at Caesars Superdome, the interactive Super Bowl Experience at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the Taste of the NFL at The National WWII Museum and the Mardi Gras-like Super Bowl Parade from the Esplanade Avenue and Decatur Street to St. Charles Avenue in the Warehouse District. That kind of vendor spending from the host committee, media and sponsors of Super Bowl LIX resulted in an additional $180.3 million. Super Bowl LIX also generated $82.7 million in taxes. That economic boon is why New Orleans welcomes the opportunity to host Super Bowls. And for the NFL, New Orleans is also an obvious setting for several reasons. In addition to having a continuous NFL team (unlike Los Angeles or Phoenix) in the city since 1967, it has tourist attractions, warm weather and a dome. But any indication of a 12th Super Bowl being played in New Orleans is very preliminary at this point. Cicero and his sports foundation, though, are encouraged. 'The response from the NFL was very positive,' Cicero said. 'Whenever you successfully host, it gives you confidence that you'll get it back sooner rather than later.'

WWE WrestleMania 42 No Longer Taking Place In New Orleans
WWE WrestleMania 42 in the Big Easy might not be a done deal anymore. According to a new report from Wrestlenomics, WrestleMania 42 will no longer take place in New Orleans in 2026. A statement provided to Wrestlenomics claims New Orleans will get a future WrestleMania in an unspecified year. In addition, New Orleans will get two major events, one being the 2026 Money In The Bank event. Advertisement 'The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership,' the statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation reads. 'Which will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money In The Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania – which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.' New Orleans & Company is a marketing group that promotes the New Orleans tourism industry. This is similar to how the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority promoted WrestleMania 41. Update: Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that WWE confirmed the Wrestlenomics report is true. In addition, the WWE source noted that the change is part of a larger deal that adds the 2026 Money In The Bank event and a future Wrestlemania event. Update 2: A new report claims WrestleMania will return to Las Vegas in 2026. Where will WrestleMania 42 take place? WWE has not announced where WrestleMania 42 will now take place. Money In The Bank typically takes place in June or July. However, a date for the 2026 event was not mentioned. It was noted that the UFC and MITB events are part of a broader 'multi-event, multi-year agreement' being negotiated between local organizers and WWE and UFC parent company TKO. Advertisement New Orleans was only announced as the WrestleMania 42 location in February. That announcement came courtesy of The Rock, who delivered the news on an episode of SmackDown that taped in the city. WrestleMania 42 was originally scheduled to take place on April 11-12, 2026 at the Caesars Superdome. The venue previously hosted two other WrestleManias in 2014 (XXX) and 2018 (34). WWE had also gone as far as announcing televised WrestleMania 42 week events in New Orleans. However, these events are also likely going to be rescheduled. WWE WrestleMania 42 is no longer taking place in New Orleans amid reports of a return to Las Vegas in 2026. The Big Easy was set to host the annual sports entertainment extravaganza, which aired live on Netflix for the first time ever last month, in April 2026, but unprecedented changes have been made with 11 months to go. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson had announced the city as the host of the 2026 show, but it's instead set to get Money In The Bank in the summer. The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation told Wrestlenomics: 'The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership.' They added that this 'will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money In The Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania – which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year'. Coming to New Orleans on Saturday August 29th, 2026 will be Money In The Bank.' Hailing the show as one of the biggest in WWE's calendar, he added that it's a night of 'high stakes' and 'amazing drama', while teasing: 'Stay tuned for more details on a WrestleMania coming to New Orleans, which will be announced at a later date.' This is a first for WrestleMania – WWE has never changed a host city or state in this way, although in 2020 WrestleMania 36 was moved from Tampa's Raymond James Stadium to the Performance Center in Orlando due to the pandemic. For years, fans have been calling for WWE to give WrestleMania an international flavour, particularly after the success of events like Clash At The Castle, Backlash in Lyon, France a year ago, and Bash In Berlin, but there could be longer to wait if Sin City emerges as a repeat destination for 2026. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan previously held talks with WWE chief content officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan, with both sides hinting it as a possibility. Khan reiterated his commitment in a report last month focused on the economic impact that major sporting events have on the UK capital's economy. 'Building on London's success, the Mayor has talked up his ambition to bring more of the biggest sporting events in the world to London,' the report read. 'Sadiq has expressed his support for a bid for the Olympics and Paralympics to return to London in 2040, while he remains committed to making London WrestleMania's first international destination.' More Trending As far back as July 2023, Triple H heaped praise on the UK fans while suggesting it was an option. He told Metro: 'Look, as I said earlier, I have been coming here since the early 90s, and it's spectacular. Some of my favourite events here ever – my favourite things I did in my career have happened here, even sometimes without the benefit of television or it broadcast anywhere else.' He added: 'We are a global company. We intend to be a global company, we intend to be global. So, never say never for any of it. The intent is there.' them.'
