Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Abduall Sanders Jr.
Part of Alabama's 2025 recruiting class, Sanders is yet another name on the Crimson Tide's roster out of national powerhouse Mater Dei High School in California, the same program that has produced other defensive standouts such as Domani Jackson and Zabien Brown.
As for Sanders in particular however, the talented freshman's role in 2025 is likely an unknown, as the linebacker has multiple names sitting ahead of him on the depth chart. Even despite this, could Sanders still make an impact this season?
Here is everything you need to know about Alabama inside linebacker Abduall Sanders Jr. entering the season.
Abduall Sanders Jr. player information

Abduall Sanders Jr. career stats

Abduall Sanders Jr. 2024 stats
Last season, Sanders was a senior at the prep level where he attended Mater Dei High School in California. Across 13 games, Sanders compiled 50 tackles, six TFL, three sacks, and two interceptions.
Abduall Sanders Jr. recruiting ranking
Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Sanders was considered as the nation's No. 312 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class, as well as the No. 33 linebacker nationally. A four-star prospect, Sanders also committed to the Crimson Tide in March 2024, and was considered the No. 27 player in the state of California where he attended Mater Dei High School.
Abduall Sanders Jr. 2025 season outlook
It is likely an unknown as to how much time Sanders could see defensively this season.
As to why, that is because Alabama has three names cemented at the top of the depth chart at inside linebacker in Deontae Lawson, Justin Jefferson, and Nikhai Hill-Green, along with a few others, including Sanders, behind that trio. Because of this, playing time could be hard to come by for Sanders this fall, but the freshman could still be a special teams option, in addition to a reserve inside linebacker.
Overall, expect Sanders to see some action this season, but for the true freshman to likely be a depth option.

Are fans of the Boston Celtics really okay with seeing Marcus Smart as a Los Angeles Laker?
Are fans of the Boston Celtics really okay with seeing Marcus Smart as a Los Angeles Laker? There has been plenty of deserved support for the Flower Mound native in the NBA media recently. Especially given it was by no means his fault he stopped playing for the Celtics, Smart having been dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the three-team deal that landed Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis and helped secure Banner 18. But understanding how the Oklahoma State alum ended up in gold and purple will be different from seeing him play in it. Particularly if that play happens to be part of Los Angeles kicking the Celtics posteriors in what is almost certainly going to be a down year. The hosts of the CLNS Media "The Big Three NBA" podcast, A. Sherrod Blakely, Gary Washburn, and Kwani Lunis, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below! How to watch Fever at Sparks: Indiana goes for sixth straight win without Caitlin Clark
The Indiana Fever's up-and-down 2025 campaign is back up again. It's almost a dizzy bat race at this point. Caitlin Clark is still on the sidelines, but her teammates are balling out, having won five straight games and back-to-back on the road. The Fever hit southern California as the hottest team in the WNBA, but Tuesday's opponents are simmering on their heels. The Los Angeles Sparks are 7-3 in their last 10, buoyed by Cameron Brink's return and a fast-paced scoring balance. Advertisement Kelsey Mitchell is fearless as Indiana's new lead option. She's going to have a few clunkers (3-for-16 Sunday in Seattle, 8-of-24 last month against Las Vegas). She's also going to turn the lights out (at least three 3s in four of her previous six games, and a 35-point gem at Chicago on July 27). The current road trip has been a good one for Indy's big-name frontcourt. Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard both double-doubled in Friday's win at Dallas. Boston followed up with 16 points, 12 rebounds and three steals up in Seattle, while Howard dropped a game-high 21 points on just 12 shots. On the outside, Mitchell's off afternoon was countered by Sophie Cunningham's four treys. The hosts play with the No. 2 pace in the league, spearheaded by the floor-running Kelsey Plum at point. After an inefficient start to her Sparks stint, Plum has settled into a double-time groove of late. She's averaging 20.6 points. 7.1 assists and 1.5 steals across her last eight games, with fantastic 49.5/42.9/95.2 shooting splits. Los Angeles is 6-7 overall in clutch spots, defined by the league as the last five minutes of games when the score is within five points. But it is 6-2 in its last eight clutch finishes. That includes a 'Game of the Year' candidate in Friday's double-overtime Storm clash. Dearica Hamby delivered the winning layup, an aggressive Rickea Jackson notched 27 points and Brink had five stocks (steals + blocks) in 12 minutes (!). Indiana will also have to account for Azurá Stevens, who is in the middle of a career breakthrough in her eighth pro season. Stevens is 40.5 percent behind the arc this year, and she presents all kinds of mismatches at 6-foot-6. Sports analyst rips Bronny James for no-showing Luka Dončić's Lakers press conference
Sports analyst rips Bronny James for no-showing Luka Dončić's Lakers press conference originally appeared on The Sporting News Luka Dončić wasted no time in extending his deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The two sides agreed to a three-year, $165 million contract extension on Aug. 2, the first day he was eligible to sign a new deal. While most of his teammates were present for his press conference and a trip to Las Vegas to attend a Backstreet Boys later in the day, LeBron James and Bronny James were among those noticeably absent. Dan Patrick believes that the four-time MVP deserves a pass for not showing up, however, he took aim at the second-year guard's decision to not join his teammates. "The one person who I thought should've been there was his son," Dan Patrick stated Monday. "Bronny James, if he wants to stay longer after LeBron leaves, that's your teammate. That's what was surprising. Bronny James should've been there. You're the last guy on the roster, you should be there. Show support." Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp "It just felt like, 'Hey, my dad's LeBron, we got a vacation'," Patrick continued. "I mean, that's where you say, 'Dad, that's my team, that's my teammate'. And if LeBron doesn't want to be there -- it just feels like there's a game going on." Despite speculation that James could leave Los Angeles, Patrick speculated that he has no plans to join a new team. While the NBA's all-time leading scorer has certainly earned the right to enjoy his summer vacation, it is not difficult to agree with the assessment that his son should be looking to build camaraderie with his teammates. After all, the Lakers are clearly Dončić's team now as James may only have one or two years left in his illustrious career. The younger James should be looking for any opportunity to step out of his father's footsteps and build his own relationship with the remainder of the roster -- particularly the Lakers' newest franchise star.
