
Tommy Thomas's daughter charged over pro-Palestinian protest
PETALING JAYA : Australian police have charged the daughter of former attorney-general Tommy Thomas with obstructing officers during a pro-Palestinian protest in Sydney on Friday.
According to ABC News, Hannah Thomas was issued a future court attendance notice for allegedly hindering or resisting a police officer and refusing to follow an order to disperse.
The 35-year-old was arrested during the incident and suffered serious facial injuries. She is currently receiving treatment in hospital. Her lawyer, Peter O'Brien, said the injuries were severe and could potentially cause her to lose sight in one eye.
Thomas is expected to appear in the Bankstown local court on Aug 12.
New South Wales police said earlier the case was not being formally investigated as a critical incident. 'The incident remains under investigation and police continue to seek further information,' according to a police statement. Four others were also arrested at the protest, including a 24-year-old man who allegedly stole a police body camera.
All four were charged with various offences and granted conditional bail. They are due to appear in court on July 15.

Penang police investigate mother and daughter's deaths, autopsy shows bodies decomposed for over a week
GEORGE TOWN, July 2 — Police confirmed that a woman and her daughter who were found dead in an apartment on Jalan Bukit Gambir here on Monday, have been lifeless for more than a week. Penang deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said this was based on the post-mortem report conducted on the two yesterday. 'The autopsy results found that both have been dead for over a week and there was no evidence of foul play. 'The doctor was also unable to determine the cause of death because the bodies were already badly decomposed,' he said when contacted by Bernama today. Media reports said the bodies of a 40-year-old woman and her two-year-old toddler were found in a state of decomposition in an apartment on Jalan Bukit Gambir in Bayan Lepas here following complaints of a foul smell from the public. Police confirmed that there were no injuries or wounds on the remains of the woman and her daughter based on the autopsy at the Penang Hospital's (HPP) Forensic Department yesterday morning. Man narrowly escapes death in Butterworth shooting

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : A man in Sungai Nyior, Butterworth, Penang, narrowly escaped death this evening when shots were fired at his four-wheel-drive vehicle by an unidentified assailant. Sinar Harian reported that in the 5.40pm incident, the man in his 40s was on his way to pick up his son from school. The portal quoted a source as saying the man was approached by two other men, who then fired several shots at the window of his vehicle. However, the man did not suffer any injuries. Based on pictures of the incident on social media, at least five shots hit the window of the victim's vehicle. Police have yet to release a statement on the matter.
