Man narrowly escapes death in Butterworth shooting

PETALING JAYA : A man in Sungai Nyior, Butterworth, Penang, narrowly escaped death this evening when shots were fired at his four-wheel-drive vehicle by an unidentified assailant.
Sinar Harian reported that in the 5.40pm incident, the man in his 40s was on his way to pick up his son from school.
The portal quoted a source as saying the man was approached by two other men, who then fired several shots at the window of his vehicle.
However, the man did not suffer any injuries. Based on pictures of the incident on social media, at least five shots hit the window of the victim's vehicle.
Police have yet to release a statement on the matter.

(dpa/AP pic) BERLIN : Four people were wounded on a high-speed train in southern Germany today when a fellow passenger attacked them with 'dangerous objects', police said. A suspect was arrested following the incident on a train carrying around 500 passengers near the village of Strasskirchen, police for the region of Bavaria said in a statement. 'At around 1:55pm today… a man on an ICE train travelling towards Vienna injured several people with dangerous objects,' the statement said. Four people received 'minor injuries', it added. The Bild daily reported that the main weapon used to attack passengers was 'probably an axe'. 'Several passengers reportedly pulled the emergency brake after the incident, causing the train to come to a halt on an open stretch of track,' it said. Passengers then surrounded the attacker, who was seriously injured and taken to hospital by helicopter, it added. Rail operator Deutsche Bahn said it was 'appalled' by the 'violent attack' on the train, which had been travelling from Hamburg. 'Our thoughts and sympathy are with the injured and all those who are now coming to terms with what they have experienced,' a spokesman said.

The Chinese Professional Football League (CFL) said Changchun Xidu had placed the items in the away changing room at the stadium ahead of a match against Shanxi Chongde Ronghai on June 28. Photos on social media showed yellow paper charms stuck to a wall, which were inscribed with phrases including: 'By decree, Shanxi Chongde Ronghai must be defeated.' The CFL said it had fined Changchun Xidu 30,000 yuan after an investigation. Changchun Xidu, second in the China League Two standings, won the match 2-0.
