CM: Operation Sindoor was a befitting reply to Pakistan

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Monday alleged that the opposition parties loved anti-national forces, but not Bharat, and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Operation Sindoor that avenged the Pahalgam terror attack . Speaking on the first day of the monsoon session of Delhi Assembly during a debate on operations Sindoor and Mahadev, Gupta said Operation Sindoor was a befitting reply to Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack in which some women had lost their loved ones, asserting that PM Modi played a huge role in protecting the dignity of "our sisters". Hitting out at the opposition INDIA bloc, CM claimed, "These people do not love Bharat, but they love anti-national forces because they see their own reflection in them." She alleged, "The name is INDIA, but if you listen to them, it feels like they are spokespersons for Pakistan… They do not trust their own Army, their own Prime Minister, but they trust foreign countries." After BJP chief whip Abhay Verma gave notice for a congratulatory motion for operations Sindoor and Mahadev, both BJP and opposition AAP raised slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki jai', hailing Indian Army. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Leader of the opposition Atishi pointed out that the whole country said in one voice after the Pahalgam attack that "we need to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. We thank our armed forces for destroying terror sites in Pakistan...". She continued, "But suddenly, I saw a post on X by US president Donald Trump claiming that he stopped the war. I want to ask the BJP-led central govt whether the cost of business with America is more than the sindoor of our sisters. " The former CM questioned why the operation was stopped at a crucial juncture. Before being marshalled out, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha criticised the central govt for accepting the cease-fire decision made by US president Trump. "Operation Sindoor was an opportunity... to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir." Home minister Ashish Sood said the two operations represented the new normal in response to terror attacks. "After terrorist attacks, dossiers are not sent any longer; instead, the Army is given a clear order to eliminate the enemy." Those questioning the two operations should be tried on sedition charges, he said. Minister Kapil Mishra said AAP leaders shed tears whenever a terrorist was killed. "The talk of taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir started only after PM Modi took charge." BJP MLA Shikha Rai demanded that Operation Sindoor be made part of the school curriculum. BJP's Arvinder Singh Lovely said India had become such a country that didn't bow down to terrorism any more.

Of controversies and incomplete tenures

1 2 Ranchi: The political life of eminent tribal leader and key architect of the formation of Jharkhand state, Shibu Soren, has been plagued by controversies. The 'Dishom Guru' struggled to complete his tenure in the Union govt as well as in the state. Soren served as the chief minister three times, but he held office cumulatively for only 308 days. His shortest tenure lasted just 10 days, from March 2 to March 12, 2005. In 2009, while he was still serving as the chief minister, Shibu was defeated in the Tamar by-election by Raja Peter. He was appointed as the Union coal minister in former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's cabinet, following the alliance between JMM and UPA for the Lok Sabha polls in 2004. However, a three-decade-old Chirudih massacre case returned to haunt him. Facing potential arrest, Shibu went underground for several days before resigning from the Union govt on July 24, 2004. In November of that year, after securing bail, Shibu was reappointed as coal minister in Manmohan's cabinet. However, he was removed again in March 2005 due to a murder case in 1994, involving his secretary, Sashinath Jha, who was allegedly attempting to blackmail him in a "cash for vote scam" that was aimed at saving former PM Narasimha Rao's govt in 1993. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Bond Accounts offers a 6%+ yield on your investment 6% Yield Bond Account Learn More Undo In January 2006, Shibu returned as a Union minister but was forced to resign in November after Delhi's Tis Hazari court found him guilty of Jha's murder. Shibu was allegedly accused of abducting Jha from Delhi on May 22, 1994, and having him killed in Ranchi. The CBI's charge-sheet claimed that Jha was aware of a monetary arrangement between Congress and JMM to avert a no-confidence motion against the Narasimha Rao govt in 1993 and was "blackmailing" Shibu for money, allegedly resulting in the murder. In the end, Shibu was acquitted in all the cases -- Kudko, Chirudih, Shashinath Jha murder and vote-for-cash scam.
