Inter Milan Target Expected Back In Training For Atalanta This Week As Transfer Saga Takes Bitter Turn

Yahoo3 days ago
Ademola Lookman is expected back in training for Atalanta this week as the transfer saga linking him to Inter Milan grows increasingly bitter.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nigerian international should be back in training Monday or Tuesday.
At the moment, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is on the sidelines with a calf injury.
The 27-year-old has therefore not been part of the team that travelled to Germany to face RB Leipzig in a friendly match yesterday.
However, the timing of this injury has meant that Lookman has been out of action whilst Inter are reportedly negotiating to sign him from Atalanta.
It is no secret that the former Fulham and RB Leipzig forward wants to join the Nerazzurri.

Yesterday, Atalanta reportedly rejected a second offer from Inter for Lookman.
And that has seen the transfer saga take a particularly bitter turn.
That is the case for Atalanta, who appear reluctant to sell Lookman. And for Inter, who are hitting major roadblocks in a deal they were hoping to wrap up quickly.
But in particular, Lookman reacted furiously to yesterday's developments. The 27-year-old removed all traces of Atalanta from his Instagram account.
This was not exactly a subtle gesture. The Nigerian was telling Atalanta that he does not intend to play for them anymore. He is trying to force their hand and get his move to Inter.
However, Lookman has not kicked up a fuss directly with Atalanta.
On the other hand, things could come to a head soon. La Dea expect Lookman back in training by Monday or Tuesday as he recovers from his calf injury.
And this could be more than a little bit awkward, considering that the player has made crystal clear that he wants to leave.

Liverpool Are Prepared To Launch A Fresh Move For This Crystal Palace Defender: Should Slot Snap Him Up?

In a recent interview with Football Insider, former scout Mick Brown revealed that Liverpool are prepared to launch a fresh move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. Brown said, 'All of the talk at Liverpool has been about Isak at the moment. 'But from what I'm told, Marc Guehi is still very much on their radar and I'd expect them to make a move before the end of the window. 'I think they regard Guehi as just as important as Isak in terms of the benefit to their squad. 'They're not totally convinced about Konate, he makes too many errors and could be on his way out when his contract runs out next year. 'They've let Jarell Quansah go, and Joe Gomez isn't going to be the long-term answer at centre-back. 'If they're going for every trophy available to them, they can't afford to take chances at the back, and Guehi would represent a very good addition for them. 'He'd be a top signing and I expect they'll be ready to make a move at some stage.' Guehi's Excellent Form In The Premier League Last Season Guehi had a great season at the London club recently as he put in a lot of influential displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The England international played in 44 matches for the Eagles in the previous campaign, netting three goals and securing two assists across all competitions. The 25-year-old gave a good account of himself when defending inside his half after he made 61 tackles, 55 blocks and 28 interceptions in Premier League football. He was even careful when distributing the ball from the back, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.5% in the English top tier (stats via LONDON, ENGLAND – FEBRUARY 15: Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace looks on prior to the Premier League match between Crystal Palace FC and Everton FC at Selhurst Park on February 15, 2025 in London, England. (Photo by) Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Snap Guehi Up This Summer? Guehi is a good tackler of the ball and doesn't mind clearing the danger when needed. He can scan the danger well to make some crucial interceptions for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. The English sensation can even play his way out from the back. He is currently one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Therefore, it will be a great move for Liverpool if they can lure Guehi to Anfield this off-season. Guehi would no doubt enhance the quality of Arne Slot's defence. He could even go on to form a solid partnership with Virgil Van Dijk at the Merseyside club. At 25, Guehi will only get better in the coming years. Thus, the Reds should focus on snapping him up before the end of this transfer period.

Patriots CB Marcellas Dial suffers torn ACL at training camp

Patriots cornerback and core special teamer Marcellas Dial Jr. has suffered a season-ending injury. Dial was diagnosed with a torn ACL, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. The 24-year-old Dial was carted off the practice field on Monday. Dial was a sixth-round pick of the Patriots last year out of South Carolina. As a rookie last season he played in all 17 games, with one start at cornerback and was one of New England's top special teams players, playing 83 percent of their special teams snaps.

New Rangers hero does it yet again in UCL with opener vs Viktoria Plzeň 🙌

Djeidi Gassama has only been a Rangers player for a matter of weeks, but he is quickly turning into the club's main man, and certainly the man for the big winger had already grabbed a goal in both legs of the second qualifying round win over Panathinaikos, and made it three on the spin in Europe with a fine opener against Viktoria Plzeň at Ibrox. It was a lovely bit of link play with Cyriel Dessers that allowed the winger the chance to curl the ball home from inside the box to send the home fans wild. It's safe to say he has already paid off the transfer fee paid to Sheffield Wednesday for his services. 📸 Ian MacNicol - 2025 Getty Images
