Sibling deities return to Puri Jagannath Temple with Niladri Bije
1 2 Bhubaneswar: The sibling deities — Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra — made their way back to the sanctum sanctorum of Puri Jagannath Temple during Niladri Bije on Tuesday, concluding the Rath Yatra festival that commenced on June 27. Following the prescribed tradition, temple's Mahajan servitors escorted the idols of Rama and Krishna from the Taladhwaja chariot and Madan Mohan from Nandighosh chariot into the shrine through a ceremonial Pahandi procession. Subsequently, Lord Jagannath's sacred weapon Lord Sudarshan was carried from the Devidalana chariot to the temple. As per order, the Pahandi procession continued as Lord Balabhadra followed by Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath were escorted into the shrine from their respective chariots accompanied by musical celebrations and chants by devotees. In a ceremonial display of the age-old tradition, Devi Mahalaxmi prevented Lord Jagannath's entry at the Jaya Vijaya door near the sanctum sanctorum. Her anger stemmed from being left behind at the temple during the sibling deities' journey to Gundicha Temple during Rath Yatra. "When Lord Jagannath found himself stranded and unable to enter, he sought forgiveness and presented rasagolas to his divine consort. Upon receiving the gesture, Devi Mahalaxmi relented and permitted his entry into the temple," said Madhab Pujapanda, a servitor. Sandhyanjali Tripathy, a devotee, observed, "The ritual demonstrates the ideal dynamics between spouses. In contemporary times, marital disagreements often lead to unfortunate outcomes. The divine couple's reconciliation serves as an example of mutual respect and understanding." Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said that from Rath Yatra till Niladri Bije, all rituals were performed smoothly.

Ahmedabad civil hospital performs last rites of Air India plane crash victims' body parts
The Ahmedabad Civil Hospital has performed the last rites of body parts of 19 persons who were killed in the June 12 Air India plane crash in the Gujarat city, officials said on Tuesday. The Gatwick-bound Air India AI171 Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight crashed into a medical college hostel complex on June 12, killing all but one passenger. (PTI) In a release, the state government-run hospital said the death toll in the horrific crash continues to be 260, and these body parts belong to the victims, but were found from the disaster site after mortal remains were handed over to families of the deceased. Authorities had announced that the mortal remains of the last victim had been handed over to kin on June 27. At the time of handing over the mortal remains, the hospital had told families of the possibility of recovery of more body parts later from the crash site given the horrific nature of the air disaster. During the ongoing investigation into the crash as well as shifting of debris from the site, more body parts were discovered and sent for DNA analysis for identification, said the release. A series of DNA tests confirmed that these body parts belonged to 26 victims whose mortal remains were already handed over to their kin. "While seven families collected the second set of remains last week, 19 families gave the Civil Hospital permission to perform last rites. Thus, last rites of 18 Hindu victims were performed at a crematorium, while the remains of a Muslim victim were buried at a graveyard," said the release. Ashes of the Hindu victims were then immersed at Naran Ghat of the Sabarmati river in the city. A London-bound Air India flight crashed into a hostel complex in Meghaninagar moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on June 12, killing 241 on board and several others on the ground. One passenger miraculously survived.

Guru Purnima celebrations tomorrow at Mustabad swamy temple
The Guru Purnima celebrations will be held on Thursday (July 10) at the Sri Vijaya Durga Sametha Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Sadguru Sainath Swamy Temple at Mustabad village of Gannavaram Mandal in Krishna District. Temple trust chairperson G.V.S. Padmavati, along with trustees senior journalist Nimmaraju Chalapathi Rao and M. Durganjaneyulu, said that the festivities would be conducted with traditional devotion and grandeur. As a prelude to the main celebration, a special Sri Chakra Navavarana Archana will be performed on Wednesday evening (July 9) to please Goddess Sri Vijaya Durga, the manifestation of Sri Rajarajeshwari Devi, Ms. Padmavati said. On Guru Purnima day, several Vedic and devotional rituals are scheduled, including, Sri Vigneshwara Puja Ritwik Varuna, Surya Namaskarams, Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam with Maha Nyasa to Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Vijaya Durga Devi, Maha Annadanam (Community Feast). Ms. Padmavati invited devotees to participate in large numbers and receive the divine blessings of the deities. The puja and abhishekam rituals will be performed under the guidance of Yajna Brahma Srikaram Murali Sharma and temple priest Itikala Nag Pavan Kumar Sharma.
