Jermain Defoe tips Lee Carsley's Young Lions to do ‘something special' in final
Two years after winning the competition for the first time since 1984, the Young Lions are on the cusp of glory again after overcoming a sluggish start in Slovakia to reach the Bratislava showpiece.
England followed an impressive quarter-final win against favourites Spain by winning Wednesday's semi-final against the Netherlands to set up a meeting with Germany, who beat them 2-1 in the final group game despite making 11 changes.
Slovenia's defeat to the Czech Republic meant they progressed anyway and former striker Defoe thinks Carsley's ever-improving side are a different beast heading into Saturday's final.

'It's a different team now, even that belief,' the former England striker told PA ahead of working as a pundit on Channel 4's live coverage of the final.
'When you do that against these top teams, you can't wait until the next game.
'It's almost like 'it doesn't matter who we play against because if we focus on ourselves and we get the best version of every player, like we have in the last two games, then, really, it doesn't really matter who you play against'.
'Germany have been great. I've watched all of their games. I watched them the other day against France. I was surprised, to be honest, but I thought they were brilliant.

'I was confident from the beginning. Even with the players that dropped out, I still felt like we had enough.
'Then watching the performances and watching how we've improved, I thought 'this team is peaking at the right time'.
'I just believe tomorrow night the boys will do something special. It's not going to be easy, of course, but I think they will do something special.'

Defoe waxed lyrical about England's players – from Harvey Elliott after his 'Messi-like' semi-final winner to midfielder Elliot Anderson and captain James McAtee – and how 'everyone has done their bit''.
Under-21s boss Carsley has been similarly fulsome in his praise of a group that has him one win away from leading England to back-to-back European Championship titles.
'Lee Carsley has been fantastic,' Defoe said of the Young Lions boss, who stepped up as interim England manager in the autumn.
'I can imagine that there'd be loads of clubs and people looking at him thinking 'this guy knows how to win'. If we end up getting over the line tomorrow, it's back to back – an unbelievable achievement to do that.'
As well as Carsley, Defoe was keen to highlight the impact of his former England team-mate Ashley Cole as assistant coach.
'We know we are done as a player, but in terms of his journey and putting in those hours at Chelsea, Everton and with England, and he had a spell with the seniors…I just feel like what he's done with his journey shows you that when you get ex-players in that have been there and done it (and) have that, I suppose, respect from the group, I think it's priceless.
'If the boys get over the line tomorrow, it's a special achievement that.'

Sir Mark Cavendish ‘proud' to have Douglas cycle track named in his honour
The winner of a record 35 Tour de France stages was back home in Douglas on the Isle of Man, where the cycle track at the National Sports Centre where he first started racing as a child was renamed the Sir Mark Cavendish Raceway. On the track where he used to compete every Tuesday night during his youth, Cavendish, who retired from racing at the end of last season, joined local schoolchildren on a ride as a new podium and signage was unveiled. 'When I was young, I would always be smashing it around that half-mile circuit,' Cavendish told the PA news agency. 'It was always fun, it was always something I would look forward to, and it taught me how to race. 'This is where I started, where every Isle of Man rider started racing, so it's very sentimental. It's not just like having something named after me – I'm very proud to have it at the place that started and shaped my career. It's truly an honour, it really means something on a personal level.' Cavendish used to revel in the weekly races run at the venue by Dot Tilbury, who remains a fixture at the National Sports Centre. Tilbury helped launch the careers of Cavendish, former Team Sky rider Pete Kennaugh and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Mark Christian, but the sessions she runs have been about more than finding future professionals. 'Cycling is fundamentally built on community and volunteers,' Cavendish said when asked about her contribution. 'That's what I loved about it. That's what got me started. 'It doesn't matter where you're from or what you do, everyone is joined by this single love, which is the bicycle – whether it's racing, using it for transport or for fitness. 'Historically club racing here in the Isle of Man and the UK in general takes a community who just love it, love seeing the racing and love what the bike is about. Without them these things don't exist and I think we need to treasure that.'

Cristhian Mosquera transfer update as Valencia star speaks out after Arsenal bid
Arsenal's opening bid for Cristhian Mosquera was rejected but the Gunners aren't giving up on the Valencia defender, who's entered the final year of his current deal Valencia captain Jose Gaya has issued an update on the future of team-mate Cristhian Mosquera after he was the subject of an undisclosed bid from Arsenal. Mosquera, 21, has emerged as a target for the Gunners, who want to strengthen their defensive options in the summer transfer window. Arsenal saw their opening offer rejected, with Valencia playing hardball over his future. That's despite the Spaniard only having 12 months left of his existing contract. The Gunners won't give up on Mosquera, who recently helped Spain reach the quarter-finals of the under-21 European Championship. Reports claim that Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig also rate the right-footed centre-back highly. Mosquera isn't the only in-demand Valencia youngster. There's also interest in Javi Guerra and Cesar Tarrega, but Gaya hopes that the trio will stay put. Speaking to Spanish radio station A Punt, the Valencia star explained: "I would be delighted if all three could stay because I think they can give a lot this new season and bring a lot of joy to the fans.
