Indiana lands versatile Florida recruit LaRon Dues following official visit
'Go Hoosiers!' he told Rivals.
The Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney rising-senior recruit picked Indiana over finalists Oregon, West Virginia, Georgia Tech and USF.
'What put Indiana over the top was the relationship I had with the coaches,' Dues said. 'And it's a rising program as well...
'The weekend was great. I had zero dull moments.'
The Hoosiers strike in the Sunshine State for the second time in a week with Dues, not long after flipping another Sarasota native in Kevontay Hugan.

A two-way talent with chops as a pass catcher as well as defensive back, IU likens its new commitment as a defender primarily.
Learning of the full role was the best part of the official visit to campus over the weekend, per the Floridian.
'The meetings because that's where I was showed where I will be playing most likely,' Dues said. 'They want me to play strong safety and their plan is for me to play early and be a playmaker.'
The future position coach in Bloomington helped to spearhead this recruitment through Tuesday's announcement.
'Coach Ola Adams is my guy up there,' Dues said. 'And everyone was very excited that I was coming...
'I'll bring all of me to IU and my message to the fans is Hoosier nation wake up, I'm home!'
The Dues decision inches Indiana towards a top-25 recruiting class.

From draft day doubts to Phillies' Wall of Fame: Jimmy Rollins' journey puts him with team greats
Associated Press PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jimmy Rollins was a Bay Area kid who grew up rooting for Rickey Henderson and admiring Jackie Robinson as he blossomed into one of the top high school prospects in baseball. So when the Philadelphia Phillies called in 1996 to tell the slick-fielding shortstop they had picked him in the second round of the draft, Rollins had one major question. 'I'm like, 'Who?' ' Rollins said with a laugh. Yes, the Phillies, one of the worst organizations in baseball throughout the late 1990s — and one Rollins turned into a perennial winner. Rollins led the Phillies to five straight NL East titles, the 2008 World Series championship, and another NL pennant the next year. He was the 2007 NL MVP, a three-time All-Star, had a 38-game hitting streak and set the franchise record for hits with 2,306. He had one more major franchise accolade to accomplish. Rollins at last took his place with Hall of Famers Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton and was inducted Friday night into the Phillies' Wall of Fame. 'I was meant to be here,' Rollins said. 'I got drafted here. I told my mom when we got drafted, I'm going to win a championship in this city. That's what it became about for me, was chasing that championship.' The core of that Phillies' run — five division titles from 2007-2011 on the strength of homegrown talent such as Rollins, Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels and Chase Utley — was built by former general manager Ed Wade. Wade, who helped move the organization into Citizens Bank Park in 2004, received his spot on the Wall with Rollins on Friday night. Howard inducted Rollins into the team's version of the Hall of Fame, saying the team leaned on him for the contagious confidence that made the Phillies the team to beat in the NL for so many years. 'You go, we go,' Howard told the crowd. 'Jimmy always went.' Utley pulled down the coverings that unveiled the Rollins and Wade plaques on the wall that greets fans in the left field concourse behind the scoreboard building. Rollins, who finished his career with stints with the Dodgers and the White Sox, earned just 18% of the Hall of Fame vote in last year's ballot, falling short of the 75% needed for election. Wade said Rollins' numbers compared to some of the great shortstops already in Cooperstown. 'This guy, from the standpoint of character, makeup and talent, he's a Hall of Famer in all three of those things,' Wade said. 'There are some guys in Cooperstown that may check one or two of those boxes. This guy checks all three of those boxes. I understand the statistical aspect of it. Defense, check his box. Speed, check his box. I don't know what criteria you would have to follow to not have Jimmy Rollins in the Hall of Fame.' ___ AP MLB: recommended Item 1 of 2

Hailey Van Lith Joins Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese on Final Injury Report for Fever-Sky
Hailey Van Lith Joins Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese on Final Injury Report for Fever-Sky originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever are facing off for the third time during the 2025 WNBA season on Sunday. Chicago currently sits in 11th place in the league standings with a 7-17 record, while the Fever have the sixth-best record in the league at 13-12. Second-year stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese made their second consecutive All-Star appearances in 2025. Clark was named a captain after averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game. Reese is adding 13.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Clark has missed significant time this season due to injury, playing in only 13 of her team's 25 games. Reese played the first 21 contests for the Sky but has missed two of the last three matchups with various ailments as well. Earlier this week, the Fever announced that there was no timetable for Clark's return as she is still recovering from a groin injury suffered on July 15. This means she is out for Sunday's contest against the Sky. Reese has been nursing a back injury this week and was ruled out for the game against Indiana as well. Joining both of them on the inactive list is rookie guard Hailey Van Lith, who was drafted 11th overall by Chicago in the 2025 WNBA Draft. "Both Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith are officially ruled OUT for the game," Sky Insider Karli Bell reported. Van Lith has played in 21 of the team's 24 games this season, averaging 4.2 points, 1.6 assists and 1.2 rebounds per contest in just 13.8 minutes per night. The most productive game of her rookie season came on June 15 against the Connecticut Sun, where she scored 16 points. Sunday's game tips off at 3:00 p.m. ET at the United Center, home of the NBA's Chicago Bulls. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 27, 2025, where it first appeared.

The Chicago Sky are entering Sunday's matchup against the Indiana Fever with a 7-17 record during the 2025 WNBA season.
