Lauren shuts down Coronation Street character as she fears what his motives are

Metro2 days ago
Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has been through enough hideous ordeals to last a lifetime in Coronation Street. Most recently she accidentally took some LSD and found herself wandering through the factory, hallucinating that she was being pursued by Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
This flashback to the grim events that she endured at the hands of the evil pervert absolutely terrified her, so much so that she ended up falling down the fire escape and sustaining broken ribs and a ruptured spleen.
Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain), at whose party the LSD was taken, blames himself for what happened. Although he never meant for Lauren to take the drug it was his fault it was placed somewhere she could accidentally take it.
Feeling guilty, he visited Lauren in hospital and she told him the hospital had done drug tests and concluded she was spiked. After Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney)'s experience of being spiked, Aadi felt even more guilty that he'd inadvertently put Lauren through a similar experience.
He admitted to Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) that it was all his fault that there were drugs at the party and Nina (Mollie Gallagher), Summer (Harriet Bibby) and Lauren ended up taking them.
Aadi tried to tell Lauren, too, but bottled it at the last minute when she told him not to blame himself that someone had brought drugs to the party. More Trending
Wanting to do something to make things right for Lauren, Aadi insisted that he was going to lend her some money to help her get back on her feet. She was reluctant to accept but he wouldn't take no for an answer.

We've seen before that Lauren can be suspicious when people try to help her – and after her horrific experience with Joel Deering it's completely understandable. Only a few months ago she lost her friendship with Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) after suspecting that he was blackmailing her in an attempt to get closer to her. Bobby had only been trying to help her and he was devastated when he found out what she'd thought.
So when Aadi offers to help her move into her new flat and gives her an air fryer, Lauren is immediately suspicious of his motives and tells him she doesn't need any help from him.

Aadi's offer of assistance is genuine, although it is fuelled by his guilty conscience. Will Lauren let her guard down and accept his help?

Good Charlotte frontman on being ‘a little bit naïve' as rockers drop new music

Good Charlotte legend Joel Madden has opened up about still feeling 'naïve' as the band finally come back with their new song, Rejects, after almost a decade away. The rockers, currently consisting of the frontman and his twin brother, Benji Madden, Paul Thomas, Billy Martin and Dean Butterworth, have blessed us with some bangers over the years, including The Anthem, Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous and, of course, Girls & Boys. However, it has been five years since they last dropped new music, with Last December in 2020, and even longer since they worked on an album – having released Generation Rx in 2018. Speaking to Metro, the 46-year-old shed light on exactly what took them so long, and what we can expect from our favorite Rejects. 'I knew we were going to make another record, I know Good Charlotte is going to make records but they've got to come when they come, they've got to be real,' he told us. 'I think we've been in this practice over the last 10 years of listening, waiting and feeling our way through it, because you can't just pump out records. Some bands can, I can't. So, I don't know when the right time to make a record is. 'I think it's when you mean it. We're at this less is more place where we go, 'No, let's just focus on the things that we f**king love, we don't need to go out and take over the world, we don't need to go out and do everything, we need to do what we feel.' 'We're honestly so happy. We're so happy to be here and we're so happy that we got to make this record, and we got to do it our own weird way. 'Rejects is a funny, cool little song that we think has everything that's unique about Good Charlotte in it, from the lyrics to the melodies to the music, it really is very good Charlotte. 'It still feels like it's new, and it's not some rehashed thing. It feels original, which is important.' Joel and Benji first formed the group with bassist Paul in the mid 90s, with Billy and Dean joining the fold shortly after – they released their self-titled debut album in 2000 but it was the 2002 follow-up, The Young and the Hopeless, that shot them to superstardom. They are set to release their eighth album, Motel Du Cap – a play on the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc venue where Joel's sister-in-law Sofia Richie got married to husband Elliot Grainge, and the group performed at their afterparty. For the eighth year, 150,000 festival goers will descend on Glasgow Green from 11-13 July to see the liked of 50 Cent, Gracie Abrams and Biffy Clyro, and you could be there! The Prize, including entry and attendance at TRSNMT festival, is subject to and governed by the Promoter's full ticket terms and conditions. 1 prize available. 1 entry per person. Full T&Cs apply, see here. It was this moment, and the feral reaction from fans after videos hit social media, that sparked the idea for them to get back in the studio, blessing us with their first new music in seven years. Motel Du Cap has been a year in the making and will be released on August 8 – it comes exactly 25 years after the group released their debut album – but despite the years between projects, lead single Rejects proves that the scrappy Good Charlotte spirit is still there. 'It does feel like the first record a little bit. I think it's the energy, the excitement…,' Joel explained. 'It's got so much Good Charlotte-ness to it. It's got so much personality, so many moments of that I think are unique to Good Charlotte. 'I love this band. I feel super proud to be in this band with these guys for almost 30 years. 'We all started in high school, we all come from nothing, and to see who these guys are in their everyday lives makes me extremely proud to be their friend, and to be in a band with them, because they're just good people.' The musician – who shares two children with wife Nicole Richie – also offered up some sage life advice, having fronted the group for the last 30 years. 'We have to be a little naïve in life. You have to be,' he insisted. 'You have to find those moments to be naïve, where it's okay to be naïve enough to believe that you can make a record that anyone will f**king listen to in 2025. And to be naïve enough to believe that Good Charlotte has a place in the world. 'You've got to go back to the pure idea of, I just want to make a record [that] I want to do well, I want to make a record that I love, I want to make a record that people will experience and go, 'That's a f**king good record.' 'It's kind of weird to say that's naïve, but there's something about it. It feels like young, naïve, 'I'm good enough to make a record' energy. 'This record is full of Good Charlotte, quirky personality, songs that only we could do … The music is actually some of the best music we've ever done, and the live show is better than it's ever been.' Speaking of those live shows, the group will be taking Motel Du Cap on the road around the world very soon while also putting their own GC spin on their different 'eras'. While Joel insisted that no song from their back catalog is off limits, as long as fans want to hear it, he conceded that some are harder 'work' than others. 'Some of our songs are a lot of work. Dance Floor Anthem is a lot of work, vocally. It's very high and it never stops, so you're out of breath the whole time,' he laughed. 'When I sing Dance Floor Anthem, the best part about singing that song is everyone singing in the crowd. 'It's the hardest song of the night, always, because the vocal range is so high and you never stop. You're just going, going, going. It's not that I don't enjoy singing it, but it's a physical event when you do that song, it's always f**king hard. 'There are songs that are just fun and they're easy to sing, and Rejects is really easy for me to sing. I really enjoyed playing it live, so I'm looking forward to playing that song. 'But there's a couple that, if you said, 'Would you play that song?' there's probably a couple that I would be like, 'eeeh'.' 'We sound better than we've ever sounded and the music is interesting,' he added. 'I really like it. I love this record. I think it's got a real place in the catalog. More Trending 'To be able to do that and experience that almost 30 years in… I can't explain how grateful I feel, because I think you're searching for that feeling when you make a record this late in the game. 'I don't think we're old, I think we have tons of energy, but I think sometimes you feel old when you've been in the band for 30 years, and you look around and some stuff has changed, some stuff hasn't. 'You [think], 'Well, where do I fit in in the world today?' I don't know, but I'm going to make this record that I love, and then everyone else can decide. I'm actually good with whatever everyone decides.' Good Charlotte's eighth album, Motel Du Cap, will be released on August 8. Got a story? The truth about Becky ‘to be revealed' in Coronation Street as Lisa is quizzed

Something of a mystery surrounds the death of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers)'s late wife Becky in Coronation Street – but as Lisa agrees to go to therapy, is she ready to face what happened? Becky was a police officer who was killed while she was at work. She was chasing a suspect, who jumped into a getaway car and smashed into her, killing her instantly. Recently Lisa revealed some more of the circumstances surrounding the death. Becky was under investigation by the anti-corruption unit at the time of her death. It seems that Lisa might not have been as supportive as she could have been, because the couple argued on the day of Becky's death as the stress of the investigation took its toll. As Becky left for work for what would be the last time, she and Lisa were still mid-argument, which obviously was very hard for Lisa to bear. Lisa also told Carla (Alison King) that, although the investigation was dropped, Becky never got the same kind of hero's send-off that Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) – who also died in the line of duty – had been given. This was obviously a huge source of regret for Lisa and something that made Craig's funeral all the harder to bear. She told Carla that her wife never got the funeral she deserved. There are a lot of questions still to be answered about Becky's death. The driver of the car was Logan Radcliffe (Harry Lowbridge), and Betsy (Sydney Martin) visited him in prison to try to get some answers about how her mum died. He spun a story that turned out to be completely made up and Betsy was no further forward. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Was Becky guilty of the corruption she was being investigated for? Was she killed deliberately to silence her? How much did Lisa know about what – if anything – her wife was involved in? More Trending When Carla suggests that it would be helpful for Lisa to go to therapy to try to help sort out her feelings about what happened, Lisa reluctantly agrees. But very quickly the therapy session becomes uncomfortable for her as difficult questions are raised and she's faced with confronting things that she's kept buried for a long time. Robert issues a dark threat in Emmerdale as he finally gets the upper hand

Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has been swimming against the tide since returning to Emmerdale. No one wants him there, even his own sister Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) at times, and least of all John (Oliver Farnworth). Robert has clocked John's true colours, which has made him unpopular with everyone around him. Added to that, his PTSD saw him accidentally lash out at Vic and give her a black eye, and his name has been mud ever since. Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) won't even give him much more than a filthy side eye. John pulled some strings and managed to get Robert sacked from the Depot, which added a new layer of complication for the ex-con. And when his drink was spiked by a hook up and John took him off in his van to do God knows what, John once again managed to turn things around to make himself to be the hero and Robert a pathetic victim. But Robert is still driven to unmask the true John and was interested to learn that Mack is also not a fan of the former army medic. So, while the chips may be down for Robert, things are starting to look up. Needing to catch a break, he's relieved to get some good news about Annie's field, which he feeds back to Victoria and leaves her utterly delighted. Annie's field is part of land once owned by their grandmother, which she left in her will to Victoria when she died. Moira's farm sits on Annie's land, but Vic agreed to continue letting her farm on it in memory of her grandmother. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Robert becomes strangely coy when Vic presses for specific details of his plans for the land. More Trending It seems whatever they are, the plans are untoward as Ross (Michael Parr) thinks he's cracked the code of where Lewis' missing weed went, and he lays the blame at Robert's door. Robert does not take kindly to the accusation, whether true or not, and during the confrontation he turns on Ross and makes a massive threat – he'll cancel the land deal with struggling Moira if Ross doesn't back off. With no choice, Ross is forced to do as he's told to protect Moira's farm. View More » Robert is fired up to be back in control and with a plan – what's his next move?
