The Weightlifting Warriors Academy, founded by the Chief National Coach Shri Vijay Sharma, is a state-of-the-art facility meticulously designed to cultivate future champions. Operating with robust support under the Khelo India Scheme and from various sporting bodies, the academy offers a holistic environment for athletic development.
Khelo India Accredited Academy - a game changer component of the Khelo India Scheme:
For a facility to be accredited as a Khelo India Accredited Academy, it is required to conform to the norms of the Khelo India scheme. The Weightlifting Warriors Academy features a modern, fully equipped gym, a dedicated food service ensuring optimal nutrition, and cutting-edge training equipment and sports science facilities. This isn't just about traditional coaching anymore. Athletes here benefit from scientific training methodologies, advanced performance analysis, targeted injury prevention programs, and comprehensive rehabilitation support. Its residential wing boasts 30 comfortable rooms, capable of housing up to 60 athletes. Currently, the academy is a vibrant hub for 40 promising young athletes, aged 8-14, who are taking their first steps towards sporting greatness. They train alongside 15 elite athletes, including none other than India's celebrated Olympic medalist, Mirabai Chanu, whose dedication and prowess serve as a constant source of inspiration within these walls.
Addressing the enthusiastic young athletes, coaches, and staff, Khadse said, 'Under 'Khelo Bharat Niti 2025', we are building an ecosystem that not only discovers talent but also sustains it through world-class coaching and community engagement. I have realisedthat when women lift, the entire nation rises, and we pledge to leave no talent undiscovered and no aspiration unfulfilled.'
Khadse's visit highlighted the pivotal role of these academies in identifying and nurturing talent from the grassroots, equipping them with world-class facilities and expert guidance. Such institutions are crucial to realising the ambitious goals of 'Khelo Bharat Niti 2025,' a visionary policy aimed at transforming India into a formidable global sporting powerhouse by creating a comprehensive and sustainable sports development framework.
The presence of an iconic athlete like Mirabai Chanu at the academy serves as a potent motivator for the young trainees, vividly demonstrating the heights that can be achieved through dedicated training and access to the premier facilities provided by the Khelo India initiative.

New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Sunrisers Hyderabad have roped in former India tearaway Varun Aaron as the new bowling coach ahead of the next season of the Indian Premier League. New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan heaped praise on England skipper Ben Stokes following his exceptional bowling performance in the fourth innings of the third Test match which is been played at the 'Home of Cricket', Lord's. So far in the fourth innings, Stokes has bowled 14 overs where he has managed to grab two wickets in his spell where he has conceded just 34 runs at an economy of 2.4. The all-rounder took the wickets of night-watchman Akash Deep (1) and opener KL Rahul (39). Speaking on Stokes bowling performance, Irfan took to X and wrote, 'Ben Stokes bowled an 9.2 over spell on Day 5 of a Test match -- pure grit. He's not just a 4D player, he's the heart of this England team. Giving it everything.' Earlier in the first innings of the Lord's Test, Stokes bowled 20 overs where he snapped two wickets where he gave away 63 runs at an economy of 3.2 picking up the wickets of Karun Nair (40) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (30). "Find this ridiculous: Broad slams ICC for fining Siraj for aggressive celebration at Lord's
London [UK], July 14 (ANI): Former England pacer Stuart Broad lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for fining Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj for his 'aggressive celebration', and pointed out that 'Gill swears live on' and 'carries on'. Siraj has been penalised 15 per cent of his match fee after a breach in the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth day of the third Test match against England at 'Home of Cricket', Lord's on Sunday. Siraj was guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.'. After the dismissal, Siraj celebrated close to the batter in his follow-through and made contact as Duckett began his walk back to the Lord's long room. Taking to X, Broad wrote, 'Find this ridiculous. Siraj 15% for aggressive celebration. Gill swears live on tv & carries on and what? It's either both or neither. Players aren't and shouldn't be robots but consistency is key.' In addition to the fine, one demerit point has been added to Siraj's disciplinary record, for whom it was the second offence in a 24-month period, taking his tally to two demerit points. Notably, skipper Gill was seen sledging and shouting some explicit words at Crawley during the final moments on day four. Gill has so far, not been fined for his punishment. Coming to the match, India are in massive trouble while chasing 193 runs at Lord's, at 112/8 after the first session on the final day, with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as their final hope. (ANI)
