Angela Jones is in the box seat to claim the Brisbane metro jockeys' premiership despite Emily Lang claiming a double on Saturday
With the Queensland winter carnival done and dusted, the interest has now turned to who will become the first female jockey to win the Brisbane premiership.
Lang narrowed the gap to just two wins on Saturday when she saluted early in the meeting on the Tony Gollan-trained favourites Sicilian ($3.10) and Lockyer ($1.60).
Jones, who is serving a 10-day suspension and didn't ride on Saturday, sits on 64 wins, with Lang on 62.
But here comes the twist to an intriguing tale of two talented jockeys.

The 24-year-old Lang picked up an eight-day suspension for careless riding from the Sunshine Coast on the last weekend of the carnival and will miss the next two metropolitan meetings, gift-wrapping Jones the chance to extend her lead before the season ends on July 31.
'I don't know who's going to win,' said Gollan, who is the boss of both jockeys.
'They're both doing a good job for the stable and that's what is important for me.
'I'll be proud of whoever does win the premiership and we'll be there to support whoever doesn't win.
'It's a very exciting end to the season because this time of the year there's not a lot going on, it's off-season racing.
'To have something like this going on in the background, it adds a level of excitement.'
James Orman was the runaway leader in the metro jockeys' premiership before he left to ride in Hong Kong in February, leaving him marooned on 45 wins.
Lang went close to a treble late on Saturday when, for a fleeting moment, $41 roughie Fireforce looked like pulling off a huge upset in the last race before Noble Decree ($5) surged clear to win a 3YO Handicap over 1350m ahead of $2.70 favourite She Ours, with the Kelly Schweida-trained Fireforce just over a length back in third.
Mister Bianco - a controversial late scratching from last week's Group 3 Winx Guineas at the Sunshine Coast - produced a terrific effort with a hefty 61kg on his back to go from last to fourth under Melbourne Cup champion jockey Robbie Dolan.
'I'll keep trying to do my best when I come back (from suspension),' Lang said shortly after hopping off Fireforce.

'I'm sure Ang will put a few on me next week, the way she's riding, but we've both been getting very good opportunities.
'It's definitely going to hurt me a little bit next week, not being there to keep kicking on, but I can only do my best.'
Gollan said whichever one of his star jockeys ended up winning the metro crown would have fully deserved it.
'They didn't get anything given to them in our stable, they've earned the rights they get,' Brisbane's premier trainer said.
'Both girls are there doing the work and they've done a great job all season.
'It's a shame there's only going to be one winner. They're both dear to the hearts of everyone in our stable and we're really proud of both girls.
'I guess it'll come down to who gets the rub of the green in these next few weeks.'

AFL 2025: Garry Lyon says Harley Reid trip worthy of a suspension, how much was he fined, MRO, West Coast Eagles loss to Port Adelaide
Don't miss out on the headlines from AFL. Followed categories will be added to My News. Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon says burgeoning West Coast star Harley Reid should have been suspended for his tripping act last Sunday. Reid was fined $10,000 — down to $6,250 with an early plea — by the Match Review Officer for intentionally tripping Port Adelaide veteran Travis Boak in the third quarter of the Eagles' 26-point loss at Adelaide Oval. With the footy in his hands, Boak appeared to have a clean exit from congestion before Reid stuck his leg out in a blatant attempt at stopping his opponent in his tracks. You can watch the incident in the player above. Harley Reid has copped criticism for this tripping act against Port Adelaide's Travis Boak. The second-year prodigy has been fined six times this season but not yet suspended after a ban last year cost him his Rising Star eligibility. And while he's totalled at least $15,000 worth of sanctions this year alone, Lyon was resolute that Reid's act was worthy of a ban, and that more fines wouldn't deter him. 'I can't fathom what the purpose is for fining a man for an act that, had he done it on the first occasion, I would've suspended him for, let alone the sixth,' Lyon began on Fox Footy's AFL 360. 'That, Gerard, I'm sorry — and I've defended Harley across the journey — that is a suspension every day of the week. 'And if you condone this in the manner of just giving him a fine, money's not going to be a problem for Harley Reid. 'The past playing cohort that are in the media now will all agree on that — that's the leg-breaker. That's a kick, Gerard. Harley Reid was lucky not to be suspended. (Photo by James Wiltshire/AFL Photos via Getty Images) 'I'm not being overdramatic. You know I've been a defender of Harley ... but that's not a fine, Gerard, let alone the sixth time he's been fined this year. 'That is a suspension for Harley Reid every single day, and if you don't suspend that, you leave the door open for lots of terrible incidents. That's failed the game, that. That's a failure.' Respected Fox Footy commentator Gerard Whateley added: 'If we are searching for the dangerous trip, that was every bit of it.' The 20-year-old has played in all 17 West Coast games this season, averaging 18.6 disposals per game but leading the league for clangers. Reid went head-to-head against Port Adelaide star Jason Horne-Francis on numerous occasions on Sunday — headlined by a spicy back-and-forth that included verbal barbs — and Lyon quizzed AFL 360 guest Andrew McQualter on the challenges associated with keeping his highly talented youngster in line. 'It's an ongoing battle,' McQualter told Fox Footy on Monday night. 'We're sort of having it a bit with a few of our other players as well. 'We want our players to be fiercely competitive, but we also want to stay incredibly disciplined and not give away free kicks. 'We have some challenges with the territory game as it is, so we don't want to give opposition any easy ones. 'We're going to keep trying to be fierce but not give away any free kicks.' On how the former No.1 draft pick has handled feedback about his missteps, McQualter added: 'He's certainly responsive to it (constructive feedback), he understands that he wants to win and compete, but he has to get his balance right. '(It's) part of his learning process he's going through, and I've got no doubt he'll continue to improve and get better at it.' West Indies v Australia, 3rd Test, Day 3 scores, news: Green, Cummins, hold the key
Cameron Green and Pat Cummins hold Australia's third Test fortunes in their hands when day three begins on Tuesday. Green (42*) and Cummins (5*) are holding the fort as Australia wobbled to 6-99, a lead of 181 runs, as Alzarri Joseph led the hosts' fightback. Joseph took 3-19 to tear through the Aussie XI, while Shamar Joseph (2-26) and Justin Greaves (1-19) have done the damage as the pink ball again proved almost unplayable under floodlights in the final session.
