The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is 'unlikely' to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Wednesday afternoon.
At 2 p.m., the state weather bureau said the LPA was located 1,655 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes.
For now, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to affect the weather conditions of the country, according to PAGASA's 4 p.m. daily weather forecast.
These areas are Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique.
Residents of affected areas were warned of possible flash floods and landslides.
Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, the rest of Western Visayas, mainland Cagayan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Palawan, Lanao del Norte, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat.
These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist throughout the rest of the country due to the Habagat.
These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides.
PAGASA also said Tropical Cyclone Danas (formerly Bising) has weakened into a tropical depression.
At 2 p.m., it was observed 695 km north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, or in the vicinity of Fujian, China, packing a maximum wind of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 90 km/h, and moving east southeast at 10 km/h.
State meteorologists said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the northern and western sections of Luzon.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.
Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:33 a.m. on Thursday.— Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News

3 LPAs monitored inside, outside PH Area of Responsibility — PAGASA

State weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring three low pressure areas (LPA) inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 8 a.m. Thursday, PAGASA said the LPA within the PAR has a low potential to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. It was last seen 790 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. Meanwhile, an LPA outside PAR has medium potential of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. It is a remnant of tropical cyclone Bising and was last spotted 475 northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. Another LPA outside PAR is unlikely to become a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. It was last monitored 2,070 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, according to PAGASA. PAGASA earlier said the southwest monsoon or habagat would continue to bring rains over a large swath of the country. Occasional rains may be experienced over Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique while cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may prevail over locos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, the rest of MIMAROPA, the rest of Western Visayas, mainland Cagayan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Batangas, Rizal, and Laguna, and Davao Occidental. The rest of the country is forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. PAGASA warned of floods and landslides in low-lying areas due to the rains. — VDV, GMA Integrated News

1 reported dead in Metro Manila due to Bising, Habagat —NDRRMC

One fatality was reported in Metro Manila due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Bising and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Thursday. In its report, the NDRRMC said the information on the reported death has yet to be validated. GMA News Online has reached out to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) for more details about the reported fatality but the agency has yet to respond as of posting time. According to a report of GMA Integrated News' Mark Salazar on 24 Oras on Wednesday, a one-year-old girl died after she was swept away by floodwater during evacuation in Las Piñas City. The baby was found along a riverbank in Barangay Talon 3 after her father allegedly lost hold of her while they were evacuating in Barangay Almanza Uno. She was brought to the hospital but later on passed away. A total of 103,274 people or 32,606 families were affected by Bising and Habagat in the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and National Capital Region, the NDRRMC said. Of the total affected population, 419 people or 104 families were staying in evacuation centers while 3,026 people or 1,022 families were taking shelter in other places. Floods were still reported in 35 areas. Landslides occurred in two areas as well as falling debris incidents in two areas. A total of 16 houses were damaged—12 partially and four totally. One road remained impassable to motorists. Classes in 247 areas and work schedules in 36 areas were suspended. Assistance worth P6,957,926 has been provided so far to the victims, according to the NDRRMC. On July 4, a low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) developed into Tropical Depression Bising. At 2:00 p.m. on the same date, Bising exited PAR. On July 6, Bising as a typhoon re-entered PAR. Bising on July 7 again exited the area as a severe tropical storm. —AOL, GMA Integrated News

PAGASA: New LPA spotted inside PAR

A new low pressure area inside PAR is being monitored by PAGASA, July 10, 2025. (Photo from PAGASA-DOST) State weather bureau PAGASA said it has spotted a new Low Pressure Area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 8 p.m. Wednesday. The LPA has a "low potential" of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, it added. Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor an earlier LPA outside PAR, which is "unlikely" to become a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. It said Tropical Depression Danas, formerly Bising, is still being monitored outside PAR. In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Metro Manila and parts of the country will continue to experience rains due to the Southwest Monsoon or habagat. It said the moderate to at times heavy rains could trigger flash floods or landslides in some areas, and residents should take caution. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
