Made by legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, it was the film Chandni which became a massive hit and ruled the theatres across India.
It starred Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna in the lead, who are no more today.
Besides them, the film also had Waheeda Rehman, Anupam Kher, Sushma Seth, Mita Vashisht, and Manohar Singh in key roles.
Not only the storyline and its star-studded cast, the film is still etched in the hearts of the audience, thanks to its music, cinematography and dance performances.
Chandni, released in 1989, was a major box office success. The film reportedly earned ₹ 27.2 crore, which is equivalent to approximately ₹ 291 crore in today's time. It was a huge success, considering it was made on a budget of just ₹ 8 crore.
Undoubtedly, the film was a turning point for both Yash Chopra and the cast.
Chandni starred three big names, the three superstars of the time —Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, and Sridevi, who delivered unforgettable performances of their lifetime in the film.
Unfortunately, all three passed away around the same time. In fact, they died one after the other.
Vinod Khanna died on 27 April 2017 after hospitalisation in Mumbai. He died due to bladder cancer at the age of 70.
After Vinod, came the tragic news of Sridevi's death.
Sridevi passed in 2018 under mysterious circumstances in Dubai, where she was with her family for Mohit Marwah's wedding. The Chandni actress was found dead in her guest room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, UAE. The cause of her death was cited as accidental drowning.
Just two years later, Rishi Kapoor lost his long fight with cancer in 2020. After completing his treatment abroad, Rishi returned to India before COVID-19 cases surged in the country.
He was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital on 29 April 2020 after complaining about breathing difficulties. He passed away the next day from a recurrence of leukaemia.
Even Chandni director, Yash Chopra, also passed away earlier in 2012. The cause of his death was said to be dengue, just before the release of his final film Jab Tak Hai Jaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
Despite the loss of the cast, Chandni remains one of Bollywood's most loved romantic films.

We stayed together for 17 years.' Talking about how she realised the severity of his addiction through her daughter, she said, 'Since I was busy working, I didn't realise when the situation got worse. My daughter, Ashi, would tell me about his drinking habits and that he would get cranky after drinking. The eye-opening moment was during the Covid time when I stayed at home and saw it myself.' The situations got worse after Piyush started mixing steroids with alcohol. 'In 2018, he was taking steroids as part of his hair transplant treatment, and he started taking alcohol with it.' She recalled that he was admitted to the hospital because of the same and the doctor warned them that he had to change his lifestyle. But even then, Shubhangi didn't give up on her marriage, she said, 'After that, I tried for two years from rehab to family discussions. I tried to convince him, but then in November 2020, I decided to separate. It was affecting me mentally.' She shared, 'Even after divorce, I continued supporting him financially but he continued drinking. He didn't stop.' When asked if she still misses her late ex-husband, the actor broke down and responded, 'Sometimes.' Shubhangi also revealed about her last conversation with Piyush was two days before he passed away. Recalling the same, she said, 'I was crying and I kept telling him please get better. I got to know that it was a multiple organ failure and alcohol was the culprit.'

Now, Watts has explained that 'the emotional strain" of COVID protocols, the lengthy post-production process and a general feeling of burnout following Spider-Man: No Way Home ultimately pushed him to leave The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Speaking on a panel at the Mediterrane Film Festival, he said: 'The emotional strain of having to go through all of those COVID protocols while also trying to make something creative while also trying to make sure that your cast and crew were all safe – literally people could've died if you did things wrong – that, and the post-production process was very difficult." He added: 'When you're doing [visual effects work], there's a whole international component to it where you're using vendors from all over the world, and the supply chain had been interrupted because of COVID. It was really hard to get effects done in a traditional way. 'By the time No Way Home was done and out, I went in to get back into the story for Fantastic Four. I was like, 'I am out of gas.' The COVID layer on top of making a giant movie layer, I knew I didn't have what it would've taken to make that movie great. I was just out of steam, so I just needed to take some time to recover." Watts added Marvel 'totally understood" his decision to walk away from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. He said: 'Everyone at Marvel totally understood. They had been through it with me as well, so they knew how hard and draining that experience has been; in the end, very satisfying, but at some point, if you can't do it at the level that you feel like you need to for it to be great, then it's better to not do it." Even so, Watts said he was 'very excited" to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps when it hits cinemas on 25 July. He said: 'I don't know exactly what happens in it. But I've seen the trailers, I've heard a couple of things. I think it's pretty close to what we had initially come up with in our story. Obviously, it evolves and adapts over time, but the main villain, the basic threat, the broad strokes … retrofuturism version of Fantastic Four … It's going to be a totally surreal experience for me to go and watch that movie." The Fantastic Four: First Steps – which stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon-Moss Bachrach – follows the titular team as they gain extraordinary powers after a cosmic accident during their exploration of outer space.
