Maintain soft approach towards Nitish Kumar but target BJP leaders, Tejashwi tells INDIA bloc leaders
Top leaders of the Opposition alliance, including Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Alavaru, Bihar Congress State president Rajesh Kumar, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani along with senior leaders of the Left parties were present in the meeting, which lasted for over six hours.
After the meeting, Mr. Yadav posted a message on his X account saying: 'Today, in the meeting of the coordination committee and various sub-committees of the INDIA bloc, meaningful and positive discussions took place on various election-related topics.'
Mr. Yadav leads the coordination committee consisting of 21 members from all the six parties of INDIA bloc. The three Left parties comprise the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India (CPI).
Sources in the meeting said that talks were also held on the joint campaign and manifesto of the alliance.
A senior leader who was present in the meeting requesting anonymity said that Mr. Yadav asked the leaders of INDIA bloc not to vehemently attack Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and maintain a soft approach towards him while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders should be the main target.
EBC vote-bank
Asked about the reasons behind such an approach, the leader said: 'There is a perception that Nitish Kumar is still the leader of the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) vote-bank, which is the largest chunk in Bihar of over 36%. So, targeting him will not bring much benefit to INDIA bloc and also due to his falling health condition. So, we have been asked not to go hard on Mr. Kumar and BJP leaders should be on the radar.'
After the meeting, Mr. Sahani of the VIP said the discussions were 'intense and long'. He added that the seat-sharing talks for the election will be finalised soon.
'We are not in a hurry. Many a times, the [alliance] candidates are changed after seeing the opposing candidates. So, let's wait for that. However, those who are likely to contest the election are already doing their campaign in their respective Assembly constituencies,' Mr. Sahani said.
The VIP chief projected himself for the post of Deputy Chief Minister from the EBC category if the INDIA bloc forms the government asserting that there is no confusion about the Chief Ministerial face for which Tejashwi Yadav has been accepted by all the parties in the alliance.
Mutual distrust: JD(U)
Janata Dal (United) State spokesperson Anjum Ara, in a media statement, targeted the Opposition meeting alleging that leadership crisis and mutual distrust among the partners in INDIA bloc is at its peak.
'No party is ready to compromise in front of their personal interest. On one hand, Mukesh Sahani is demanding 60 seats, on the other hand Congress and Left parties are also engaged in imposing their own conditions. In such a situation, it has become clear that the grand alliance has neither policy, nor leadership nor any common vision,' Ms. Ara stated.

It will, indeed, help in further improving the 'Ease of Doing Business' between two friendly countries - India and Nepal," he added. The event was attended by senior diplomats from Nepal, besides senior government officials and industry leaders from the neighbouring country. PHDCCI 's India-Nepal Centre secretary Atul K Thakur said, "Substantial progress has been achieved in recent years in key areas of India-Nepal bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of connectivity - physical, digital, energy and people-to-people linkages." This is manifested in the steady implementation of infrastructure projects related to roads, bridges, cross-border railways, Integrated Check Posts and petroleum pipelines, he said. "Some of the major outcomes of recent high-level visits include landmark connectivity initiatives such as progress in the Integrated Check Posts at Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Dodhra-Chandni," he added.

Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav to leave for Dubai today for investment outreach
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 13 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to go on an official visit to Dubai in the UAE and Spain from July 13 to July 19. The aim of his visit is to bring global investment to Madhya Pradesh, encourage technology sharing, and create new job opportunities. As per the release, Yadav will leave for Dubai on Sunday afternoon. Soon after reaching, he will meet several well-known people to tell them about the strengths of Madhya Pradesh. He will speak about investment, education, and building strong cultural ties between Madhya Pradesh and Dubai. He will also meet members of the Indian community living there. During his visit, Yadav will also visit a temple in Dubai whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from this, he will also hold the first international roadshow in Dubai. Yadav's visit will start with several meetings. There will be important discussions along with lunch in the initial meeting. Reliance Group SR Vice President Farhan Ansari, as well as Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al Yamahi will also be present in this meeting. In this meeting, topics like strategic investment cooperation, education, youth exchange program, parliamentary dialogue and cultural friendship between Madhya Pradesh and Dubai will be discussed. After this, Yadav will hold a meeting with the Indian business delegation in Dubai. The Chief Minister will visit the grand BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. The foundation stone of this temple was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2024. This temple is the first traditional stone-built Hindu temple in the Middle East region. Today, a long discussion was held among the delegates of PHDCCI on how to deepen the economic relations between India and Nepal and how investors from both countries should invest in each other. Certainly, through such programs, our deep and ancient cultural relations with Nepal will be strengthened and those economic relations will also be deepened,' Patel said. 'Major landmarks in the power sector include the finalisation of the Long-Term Power Trade Agreement; finalisation of the trilateral power trade agreement between India, Nepal, and Bangladesh; and signing of agreements with respect to the development of new hydropower Projects in Nepal by Indian developers, including the 480 MW Phukot Karnali and the 669 MW Lower Arun. In the field of digital financial connectivity, Nepal started accepting UPI payments since March 2024 through interoperability with FonePay QR of Nepal. National Payments Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) are working closely to facilitate cross-border digital payments in a smoother way, and this is opening a new chapter in the financial technology domain,' he added. Nepalese diplomats Ambika Joshi, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Nepal in India and Rabindra Jung Thapa, Counsellor (Economic), Embassy of Nepal in India shared in the presentation, 'Indian firms are among the largest investors in Nepal, accounting for 35 per cent of the total FDI stock in Nepal, worth nearly USD 777 million. Nepal is India's 17th largest export destination, up from 28th position in comprises about 64.1 per cent of total trade of Nepal, equating to USD 7.87 billion USD (Indian FY 23-24)). This includes USD 7.041 billion USD of exports from India to Nepal and USD 829.71 million USD of exports from Nepal to India. India is Nepal's largest export destination, receiving an overwhelming 67.9 per cent of its total exports (as per annual data available from Nepal Rastra Bank (mid-August 2023-mid July, 2024). Nepal's other large export destinations are the United States, Germany, Turkey, France, the UK, Australia, Italy, Japan and Canada. Nepal's exports mainly constitute edible oil, coffee, tea and jute. Nepal's main imports from India are petroleum products, Iron & Steel, Cereals, Vehicles and Parts, Machinery parts.' He added, 'There are about 150 Indian ventures operating in Nepal engaged in manufacturing, services (banking, insurance, dry port, education and telecom), power sector and tourism industries. India-Nepal partnership will be further strengthened in all crucial areas including economy, culture and at people-to-people level. The famous Janki Temple in Janakpur was made by the queen of Tikamgadh (Madhya Pradesh) and this is one of the key examples of our shared past with Madhya Pradesh and India. The Embassy of Nepal in India is fully supportive of business and people engagements between Nepal and India--and it calls the businesses in Madhya Pradesh (and other parts of India) to explore investing and doing business in Nepal for promising outcomes.' Later, speaking with ANI, Ambika Joshi said, 'Today's program was focused on exploring opportunities for tourism and investment in Nepal. We had a very good interaction with Indian investors and the people from the Nepali community who are rising entrepreneurs in Bhopal about collaborating for investment and tourism. I'm happy to share that beyond tourism or economic issues, we also discussed on the possibility of collaboration in the cultural, medical and education sectors. So I am very much encouraged by this program.'
