Demand to relocate aerospace park to NK

Hubballi: The Karnataka BJP industrial cell has called upon the state govt to relocate the planned aerospace park from Devanahalli to the Hubballi-Dharwad area in North Karnataka, following the suspension of land acquisition in Devanahalli due to farmers' protests. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During a press conference in Hubballi on Monday, Narendra Kulkarni, co-convener of the Karnataka BJP industrial cell, stated, "In the interest of farmers in Devanahalli, the state withdrew its decision to acquire land for the aerospace park. We appeal to the govt to now consider Hubballi-Dharwad for this major project, which would bring immense employment and development opportunities to the region." Kulkarni noted that the aerospace park would generate substantial employment opportunities, particularly in engineering and technical fields. "Alongside the park, infrastructure like housing, malls, hotels, warehouses, and transport facilities would also develop. Small and medium industries will get a big boost, and international companies may show interest in investing here," he said. Previously, the govt intended to acquire 1,777 acres near Bengaluru for the project, but strong farmer resistance led to its cancellation. "With Bengaluru already facing overpopulation and congestion, and neighbouring states actively attracting such industrial projects, we must ensure Karnataka retains this opportunity by shifting it to North Karnataka," Kulkarni stated. The Hubballi-Dharwad region's proximity to Maharashtra and Goa borders, combined with existing private aerospace component manufacturers, makes it suitable. Belagavi, situated nearby, contains significant Army and Air Force facilities. Additionally, the ongoing Rs 380 crore expansion of Hubballi airport aims to achieve international standards. The region offers sufficient govt land through the land bank scheme. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The Belur industrial area near Tata Marcopolo is particularly suitable for the park," Kulkarni indicated. He stressed that establishing the aerospace park in North Karnataka would promote balanced regional industrial development, enhance educational prospects, and boost local employment. Additionally, he requested the govt to implement a special industrial package alongside the park development. Srimant Dhangar, Chandrakant Gadakari, Mtutyunjaya Murol, Mahantesh Batli, and other office bearers were present at the press conference.
