Police still working to identify suspects in Jalan Loke Yew, Brickfields shootings that left three dead
KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — Police are still trying to identify the suspects involved in the shooting incident in front of a convenience store in Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras here on June 17 that left two people dead.
Cheras district police chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan said that so far, their department has recorded statements from 19 individuals to assist in the investigation into the case.
'Efforts to identify the suspects are ongoing and so far there have been no arrests,' he said in a statement here today.
The incident at 12.48 am saw two local men die after a group of men wearing black ski masks opened fire on them.
A 21-second closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording that went viral on social media shows a group of individuals opening fire on the victims before fleeing.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Brickfields, police also recorded statements from 19 individuals in connection with the shooting that killed a man.
Brickfields district police chief ACP Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said efforts were also underway to track down and identify the suspects.
In the incident at about 10.50 pm, two men on a motorcycle fired several shots at a group of men who were eating at a restaurant on Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, leaving one dead and two others injured. — Bernama

Others implicated are state finance minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, deputy chief minister III and state works minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, state minister of science, technology and innovation Datuk Arifin Arif, Kemabong assemblyperson and chairperson of Sabah Economic Development Corporation Datuk Rubin Balang, Tempasuk assemblyman Arsad Bistari and Kuamut assemblyperson Datuk Masiung Banah.

Skipper in deadly Perhentian capsize remanded 3 days over drug offence

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The skipper of a boat that capsized in rough waters near Pulau Perhentian Besar on Saturday night has been remanded for three days until Wednesday in connection with a separate drug-related case. The 22-year-old tested positive for drugs following the accident, police said. He also has a record of five criminal offences. According to Berita Harian, magistrate Nurliyana Md Zukri issued the remand order at the Setiu magistrates' court under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use. The boat, which was carrying 15 passengers aged between three and 40, was en route from Pulau Perhentian Kecil to Pulau Perhentian Besar when it capsized at around 10.30pm. Three people died at the scene: S Arumugam, 40, his three-year-old daughter Sarrvihka, and a 10-year-old relative, V Vennpani. A six-year-old child remains in critical condition and is being treated in the intensive care unit of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu. Initial police investigations revealed that none of the passengers was wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
