Bukit Aman, KL CID team up on deadly Brickfields, Cheras shootings, rope in Sarawak CID
KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — The Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Departments (CID) are working together to hunt down suspects linked to two recent fatal shootings at Brickfields and Cheras here. Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said investigations into both cases are currently ongoing, with the Sarawak CID assisting in checking the motive of the Cheras shooting. 'Photofits by witnesses at the scene of both the shootings cannot be done as the suspects in the (Cheras) case was wearing face masks and helmets (in the Brickfields shooting),' he added. Two men riding a motorcycle had fired shots at a group of men at a restaurant Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, killing one and injuring two at 10.50pm on June 13, while another man was killed in front of a convenience store at Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras on June 16. — Bernama

No suspects arrested yet in Brickfields, Cheras shootings
The shootings in Brickfields and Cheras, which took place just days apart, have been linked to criminal disputes originating from Selangor and Sarawak. PETALING JAYA : Police are still working to track down the suspects involved in the two shootings in Cheras and Brickfields last week. The statements of 19 witnesses have been recorded in both cases to assist with the investigations. 'No arrests have been made as of today. We are still working on identifying the suspects involved,' Cheras police chief Aidil Bolhassan said in a statement. Separately, Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said five people who were previously arrested were merely witnesses to the incident and had been released. On June 13, three men aged between 30 and 50 were eating with several friends at a restaurant in Brickfields when they were approached by two men on a motorcycle who fired several shots at them. Four days later, two men were shot dead as they were walking towards their car at the lobby of a shopping complex on Jalan Loke Yew in Cheras. Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said that the Brickfields and Cheras shootings were believed to be linked to criminal disputes originating from Selangor and Sarawak, respectively.

Police still working to identify suspects in Jalan Loke Yew, Brickfields shootings that left three dead
KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — Police are still trying to identify the suspects involved in the shooting incident in front of a convenience store in Jalan Loke Yew, Cheras here on June 17 that left two people dead. Cheras district police chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan said that so far, their department has recorded statements from 19 individuals to assist in the investigation into the case. 'Efforts to identify the suspects are ongoing and so far there have been no arrests,' he said in a statement here today. The incident at 12.48 am saw two local men die after a group of men wearing black ski masks opened fire on them. A 21-second closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording that went viral on social media shows a group of individuals opening fire on the victims before fleeing. Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Brickfields, police also recorded statements from 19 individuals in connection with the shooting that killed a man. Brickfields district police chief ACP Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said efforts were also underway to track down and identify the suspects. In the incident at about 10.50 pm, two men on a motorcycle fired several shots at a group of men who were eating at a restaurant on Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, leaving one dead and two others injured. — Bernama

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have arrested five people to assist in an investigation into a shooting incident that killed one man and injured two others at a restaurant in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, on June 13. Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Usuf Jan Mohamad said all five have been released on bail after they provided their statements, Berita Harian reported. Earlier reports said the trio, aged between 30 and 50, were eating with several friends when they were approached by two men on a motorcycle who fired several shots at them. Usuf said the arrests were made in Kuala Lumpur on June 16. He also said no arrests have been made in the incident in Cheras on June 17 in which two men died after being shot several times in front of a shopping mall, but police were actively working to identify the gunmen. Investigations showed that both cases are believed to be related to feuds between secret societies, he said. Usuf said 18 witnesses had given their statements in relation to the Brickfields case, while 20 had their statements recorded in the Cheras shooting probe.
