
Jordan's Eastern Military Zone foils major drug smuggling attempt
A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) stated, "Border Guard forces in the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to foil an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle large amounts of narcotics."
The source explained that a group of smugglers was detected trying to illegally cross the border. In response, rapid reaction patrols engaged by applying the rules of engagement, forcing the smugglers to retreat back into Syrian territory. Intensive search and inspection operations afterward led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, which were handed over to the relevant authorities.
The source affirmed that the JAF remains committed to utilizing all its capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling in order to safeguard the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
