The training modules will be tailored for students in non-engineering streams, including vocational students, ITI trainees, and govt school students. To improve global job opportunities, the govt has tied up with institutions abroad. "Select students will be sent for internships and in-person training in countries such as South Korea, Japan, and the UK, based on partnerships with universities and industry bodies," said an official.
Under international collaboration, 25 students have already been sent for in-person training at Durham University in the UK, while 15 students underwent technical training in Japan. In 2025, six students from chemistry and physics backgrounds also completed internships at Pusan National University and Gachon University in South Korea.
So far, more than 1.02lakh students have secured jobs through pooled campus placements and job fairs.
As part of higher education support, 77,752 students were helped through the 'Uyarvukku Padi' scheme, while 'Kalloori Kanavu 2024' benefited 1.87 lakh students since its inception in 2022 — including 81,149 students in 2025-26 alone.

41.38 lakh students, 1 lakh teachers trained under Naan Mudhalvan scheme: T.N. government
The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday said over 41.38 lakh students and about 1 lakh teachers have been trained under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme so far. Besides this, the Uyarvukku Padi scheme has facilitated the admission of 77,752 students into higher education institutions. Under the Kalloori Kanavu 24 initiative, over 1.87 lakh have benefited since its inception in 2022. In 2025-26, 81,149 students benefited, an official release listing the accomplishments of the Special Programme Implementation Department said. A total of 29 government engineering colleges have been equipped with skill and employment centres at an estimated cost of ₹30.17 crore, inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on December 18, 2024, at the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. Under the North Chennai Development Project, about 1,200 individuals from the region participated in skill training and job fairs, with 297 selected for recruitment, training, and placement, it said. Since 2021-22, 259,072 college hostel students from the Adi Dravidar community, Most Backward Classes, and Backward Classes have received training in English speaking and softskill development, the release said. Under the SCOOT Pilot Phase Outcomes (2024), implemented in collaboration with the British Council and Durham University, 100 students received online training in artificial intelligence and data science, it said. The top 25 students received in-person training at Durham University, and 13 of them were placed in leading companies. For the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, an allocation of ₹8,123.83 crore was made for 2023-24 and ₹13,721.50 crore for 2024-25. 'The scheme will be expanded to include more eligible women,' it said.

Woman tailor helps others learn trade, earn livelihood
1 2 3 Bhubaneswar: Sujasmita Tewari, a 45-year-old woman from Balipatna, on the outskirts of the city, has been providing free tailor training to women since 2004, helping many of them earn their livelihood. So far, she has trained more than 2,000 girls and women. After Class XII, Tewari took admission in an ITI to study tailoring. She started earning money from stitching and related works and introduced the tailoring training programme. "My father was working in Daitari mines (in Jajpur district), and we stayed there. I learnt tailoring from my mother. After I completed my ITI course in tailoring, I started stitching work in 1999. I gradually trained some girls by charging a monthly fee of Rs 30 before I got married in 2001," said Tewari. She said many girls didn't have the means to pay the fee. "Later, I stopped asking for it. After marriage, I moved from Daitari to Balipatna. I took some time to get settled before starting tailoring work and training. I wished to pass on my skills to young girls and women sitting idle at home. "I love designing costumes for mythical characters and kids taking part in fancy dress competitions. Out of curiosity and passion, I opened the chitralaya," she added. Her husband, Rabi Narayan Mishra, a priest, has supported her throughout her journey. Tewari's daughter, Rupali Mishra, is an actress, and her son, Siddharth, is in college. Tewari has received awards from different organisations. "Helping a woman earn her livelihood through tailoring helps empower them. She will not depend on anybody for pocket money. She can also provide financial support to her husband in times of need. It will make her confident and self-reliant," said Tewari, adding, "Many women have opened their own shops for stitching. It gives me immense pleasure to see their confidence." Besides training work, she sometimes plants saplings. She also distributes clothes to poor and homeless people and creates awareness among villagers about health issues. "I also made masks during Covid-19 pandemic and distributed them," she added.
