Anbumani launches padayatra to realise ‘Dr. Ayya's dreams'
PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday launched a padayatra to realise what he called 'the dream of Dr. Ayya (his estranged father and party founder S. Ramadoss)' — of a Tamil Nadu that is free from liquor and drugs and where farmers are happy, workers are in a position of power, and everyone has access to education and health care. Dr. Ramadoss had earlier petitioned the police to restrain his son from taking out the padayatra, alleging that it would cause law and order issues in northern Tamil Nadu. Beginning his padayatra after offering prayers at the Thiruporur Kandaswamy Temple, Dr. Anbumani garlanded B.R. Ambedkar's statue on the way to a public meeting near the roundabout. He criticised Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for the state of law and order, violence against women, and failure to implement 10.5% internal reservation for the Vanniyars within the MBC category. 'We are seeing a Chief Minister who gives a two-hour call-sheet every day. He comes, someone will say 'action', he will act, and then they will play the video the whole day [on media channels],' he said. 'People are angry and farmers are angry. The women, including girls, are unable to go out. The Chief Minister is responsible for it. For, the Police Department is under his control. Recently, a young girl of Tiruvallur district was sexually assaulted. Such incidents happened at Anna Nagar [in Chennai], Krishnagiri, Pollachi, and Tiruchi. Women are suffering sexual assaults,' he said. 'Government employees and teachers are responsible for the DMK to come to power. They demanded that the old pension scheme be brought back. Seven States have already brought it back. Why can't Tamil Nadu do it? They have constituted a committee. What about the Sridhar Committee? The Shantha Sheela Nair Committee? When the DMK wants to postpone doing something, it will constitute a committee. And just before the election, when the committee submits its findings, it will promise to implement the recommendations after the election. This time, they [the people] can't be fooled,' he said. According to him, the recently launched 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme had come too late. The PMK had earlier proposed a law to guarantee government services to the people. 'The government has launched 'Ungaludan Stalin' to provide services by organising special camps. What were you doing for four-and-a-half years? The PMK demanded, 15 years ago, that the government pass a law, named 'Right to Services Act'. Had such a law been passed, there would have been no need to hold these camps. This is our right, and it is the duty of the State government to guarantee it,' he said. Dr. Anbumani said Mr. Stalin claims that he hails from the Delta region, but has no connection with farming. 'Is there one farmer in Tamil Nadu who will say that he is happy? Do you know the agricultural growth in Tamil Nadu? It is -0.12%. If we consider the growth in milk production and fisheries, the growth is -5.68%. What has happened to the election promise that you would give ₹3,500 for a quintal of grain? What has happened to the promise that the government would give ₹5,000 for a tonne of sugar cane? Not a single farmer should vote for the DMK,' he said.

Spin the wheel, scratch cards: AIADMK campaign targets MK Stalin's ‘Lies and Deceit'
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami launched a fresh political campaign under the slogan 'Save People, Retrieve Tamil Nadu', in a direct counter to the ruling DMK government's ongoing outreach, 'Ungaludan Stalin'.The new AIADMK initiative, titled 'Oruttugalum, Thiruttugalum' (Lies and Deceit), seeks to highlight what the party claims are unfulfilled promises made by the DMK during the 2021 Assembly election campaign. The AIADMK leadership said the campaign aims to expose the gap between the DMK's electoral assurances and its performance in office. advertisementAs part of the campaign's public engagement strategy, the AIADMK has introduced spin-the-wheel games and scratch cards, which party organisers say are designed to draw attention to specific issues and government failures. Speaking exclusively to India Today, Edappadi K Palaniswami said, 'We want to enlighten people. DMK claims the given poll promises were fulfilled but people should know what happened.'When asked about the spin the wheel games and scratch cards being distributed as part of the campaign, he added, 'DMK made 525 announcements, of which we have highlighted some here. There are a lot more. They claim 99 percent of the 525 poll promises have been fulfilled. We are highlighting major ones here. People can express their wish here. People are the judges as they vote. We are handing it out to understand their wish.'Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin responded sharply to the campaign, asserting that Edappadi K Palaniswami no longer has control over his own party. Udhayanidhi said, 'He is saying that as elections are nearing DMK is knocking on every voter's door. I have said this already, we are not sneakily knocking on Amit Shah or Kamalalayam doors. We are facing each member and candidate with the welfare work we have done. Can you do that?'Taking direct aim at the Opposition, he added, 'AIADMK is not under the control of EPS. We will definitely have to defeat these slaves and fascists. Not one vote should be missed as this is a very important election. This is an election to protect the land, language and respect of Tamil Nadu.'- Ends IN THIS STORY#Tamil Nadu

AIADMK a party with ISI logo: EPS
Pudukottai: AIADMK is a party with an 'ISI logo' and has the overwhelming support of the public, so it does not need to conduct campaigns like 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' or 'Ungaludan Stalin', said AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) in Pudukottai on Thursday. It was the first day of Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom campaign in the district, where he covered three of its six constituencies. Dismissing the DMK 's campaigns as mere fancy names, he said, "AIADMK need not go door-to-door because it is a party with the ISI symbol and enjoys people's support. DMK has lost the trust of the people and its core voter base. People must be cautious about sharing their phone numbers, as their personal details might be misused and subsequently have their houses looted," he said. "When Stalin was the opposition leader, he collected petitions from the people on the promise of solving them after coming to power. Then why this new initiative now? It's only to deceive the public," he alleged. On AIADMK's alliance with BJP, EPS said the ruling party and the chief minister are unable to digest the fact that the alliance headed by AIADMK will be a winning one in 2026. "In DMK, power is reserved for family members. But in AIADMK even C Vijaya Baskar can become chief minister," he said, pointing to the Viralimalai MLA and ex-health minister who accompanied him. EPS said the DMK govt was soft-pedalling Cauvery–Vaigai–Gundar river linking project for political reasons. "I laid the foundation stone for the project here in Pudukottai. AIADMK aimed to turn barren lands green to benefit farmers. But the DMK govt is not taking the project forward," he said. Listing schemes introduced by the AIADMK govt to support farmers, EPS said the DMK govt is not working in the best interests of the farming community. Before his address in Gandarvakkottai, EPS symbolically drove a tractor to drum up support among the farmer community. In each of his addresses in Gandarvakkottai, Alangudi and Aranthangi, the leader of opposition picked up a local issue of the constituency.
