AIADMK a party with ISI logo: EPS
AIADMK
is a party with an 'ISI logo' and has the overwhelming support of the public, so it does not need to conduct campaigns like 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' or 'Ungaludan Stalin', said AIADMK general secretary
Edappadi K Palaniswami
(EPS) in Pudukottai on Thursday.
It was the first day of Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom campaign in the district, where he covered three of its six constituencies.
Dismissing the
DMK
's campaigns as mere fancy names, he said, "AIADMK need not go door-to-door because it is a party with the ISI symbol and enjoys people's support. DMK has lost the trust of the people and its core voter base. People must be cautious about sharing their phone numbers, as their personal details might be misused and subsequently have their houses looted," he said.
"When Stalin was the opposition leader, he collected petitions from the people on the promise of solving them after coming to power. Then why this new initiative now? It's only to deceive the public," he alleged. On AIADMK's alliance with BJP, EPS said the ruling party and the chief minister are unable to digest the fact that the alliance headed by AIADMK will be a winning one in 2026. "In DMK, power is reserved for family members.
But in AIADMK even C Vijaya Baskar can become chief minister," he said, pointing to the Viralimalai MLA and ex-health minister who accompanied him.
EPS said the DMK govt was soft-pedalling Cauvery–Vaigai–Gundar river linking project for political reasons. "I laid the foundation stone for the project here in Pudukottai. AIADMK aimed to turn barren lands green to benefit farmers. But the DMK govt is not taking the project forward," he said.
Listing schemes introduced by the AIADMK govt to support farmers, EPS said the DMK govt is not working in the best interests of the farming community.
Before his address in Gandarvakkottai, EPS symbolically drove a tractor to drum up support among the farmer community. In each of his addresses in Gandarvakkottai, Alangudi and Aranthangi, the leader of opposition picked up a local issue of the constituency.

Bengaluru toxic flow polluting Thenpennai: CPCB
CHENNAI: The central government has confirmed that Thenpennai river, flowing from Karnataka into Tamil Nadu, is severely polluted due to unchecked discharge of industrial effluents and untreated sewage from Bengaluru's sprawling urban and industrial zones. In a written reply to a question from DMK MP TR Baalu in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh admitted the downstream stretches of rivers like the Thenpennai are heavily contaminated. The ministry's statement corroborated findings by Tamil Nadu authorities and national monitoring agencies that identified the river at Chokkarasanapalli Bridge in Karnataka – near Tamil Nadu border – as a Priority-I polluted river stretch, the most critical category under national classification. Water quality data collected under the National Water Quality Monitoring Programme revealed alarming figures: Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) levels at Chokkarasanapalli ranged between 17 and 52.4 mg/L, far exceeding the safe threshold of 3 mg/L. Even more concerning was the total coliform levels – an indicator of fecal contamination – peaking between 16 lakh and 350 lakh MPN/100 ML, alongside dangerously low dissolved oxygen levels. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that in some cases, dissolved oxygen is below detectable limits.

DMK spent Rs 22 crore on ads without tenders: AIADMK gen sec EPS
CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday said that since launching the statewide tour titled 'Let us protect Tamil Nadu people and reclaim the state' from July 7, so far, he has covered 46 Assembly constituencies in 10 districts and would be continuing his visit in the coming days, meeting all sections of the people. In a statement, Palaniswami alleged that DMK government misuses public funds for personal image-building, citing Rs 22 crore spent on advertisements without tenders, and naming schemes after former CM M Karunanidhi. He described the DMK regime led by Chief Minister M K Stalin as a 'failure model government' which 'failed to fulfil the expectations of the people on all counts'. Palaniswami also said that the AIADMK has launched a new campaign titled 'Against DMK's Lies and Thefts – For Truth and Rights', calling upon the people of Tamil Nadu to submit report cards highlighting the failures of the DMK government. The AIADMK leader accused the DMK of running a family-dominated, anti-people, and dictatorial administration, which has failed to fulfil even 10% of its 525 poll promises while claiming 98% implementation. He also slammed the DMK for rising taxes, unaffordable construction costs, law and order deterioration and widespread drug abuse.

OPS plans to quit NDA, may tie up with Vijay
OPS plans to quit NDA, may tie up with Vijay OPS, Tamil Nadu's former CM and expelled AIADMK neta, is planning to quit BJP-led NDA, feeling 'disrespected' after PM Modi didn't give him an audience during his visit to the state. OPS had written to Modi, requesting permission to receive him at the airport. OPS, facing pressure from his supporters to quit NDA, would consult his adviser before taking a decision in a couple of days, a source told TOI . 'An alliance with Vijay's TVK is a possibility,' said a close aide of OPS. 'I don't think he will remain in NDA for long, but his legal battle to reclaim AIADMK from EPS will continue.' The OPS camp believes that remaining in NDA would further diminish his standing.
