Arab Cinema Center Reveals 2025 Edition of Its Annual Golden 101 List
Introducing this year's Golden 101 — inspired by the famous Palme d'Or from Cannes — the 25th Arab Cinema Magazine is showcasing the personalities that have made the largest impact in Arab filmmaking over the past year.
The Golden 101 features a mix of talents and organizations that have contributed the most to Arab cinema in the last year. These individuals and groups are listed together in different categories, like directors, producers, actors, distributors, and more.
Egypt leads the list with 41 entries, followed by Lebanon (20), Saudi Arabia (16), Palestine (12), Jordan (10), Tunisia (9), the UAE (1), Kuwait (2), Qatar and Sudan (3 each), and the rest from the UK (3), Morocco (2), Syria (2), the US (2), Italy (2), and one each from Iraq, Somalia, South Africa, Russia, France, Australia, and India.
Leading the Golden 101 list is Egypt, Which boasts a strong presence with prominent stars such as Youssra, Hussein Fahmy (President of the Cairo International Film Festival), Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed Malek, Hesham Maged, Laila Elwi, and Nour El Nabawy. Behind the scenes are Mohamed Hefzy (Film Clinic), Tarek Alarian, Tamer Morsy (Synergy Films), Ahmed Amer (A. A. Qatar is represented by Fatma Al Remaihi (CEO of the Doha Film Institute), Hanaa Issa (Director of Film Funding Programs), and Yousef Al Obaidly (CEO of beIN Media Group).
Jordan makes a strong contribution with 10 notable figures, including Amjad Al Rasheed, Suad Bushnaq, Rula Nasser, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, and Princess Rym Ali (RFC), Mohannad Al Bakri (RFC), Nada Doumani (Amman International Film Festival), Bassam Al Asaad (Amman Film Industry Days), Samar Akrouk (MBC), and Moayyad Deeb (Metafora).
Tunisia brings nine names led by Hend Sabri and Dhafer L'Abidine, along with Adam Bessa, Faysal Hsairi (Metafora), Lamia Belkaied Guiga (CNCI), Hedi Zardi (Atlas Workshops), composer Amine Bouhafa, producer Dora Bouchoucha, and Habib Attia. After the announcement, Cyrus took to social media to share her excitement for the news. The Grammy winner posted a video of herself on the Walk of Fame that was shot as part of her Something Beautiful film on Instagram, where she wrote that she was 'Honored to be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.' 'When I first came to LA from Nashville as a little girl, my family would stay at a hotel on Hollywood Blvd, and I would go on late night walks with my dad when no one would recognize him,' she wrote. Here's When Assala Nasri New Album, "Darba El Boaad," Will Arrive
Yara Sameh Syrian megastar Assala Nasri is gearing up for the release of her new album"Darba El Boaad". The record is slated to be released on Thursday, July 3 on digital music platforms and YouTube. It is produced by Rotana and consists of 10 songs. In the album, Nasri cooperates with new collaborations with composers Tamer Ashour, Madian, Mohamed Shafaay, and more. Nasri dropped her last LP, " Thumma Ana " in June 2024. Born on May 15, 1969, the superstar is one of the best female singers in the Middle East. She made her music debut with the 1991 album 'Law Ta'rafou'. The album featured four songs in the oriental operatic tarab style and was an instant hit with heartbreaking songs like 'Ya Sabra Yana' and 'Samehtak Ketir'. Hend sported a crimson off-shoulder gown. Cynthia took a more maximalist route in a green embroidered Valentino duchess satin dress, with a neckline so sculptural it gave the illusion of layered jewellery. Fifi Abdo & Nabila Ebeid | Sheraton Hotel Cairo (2000) Fifi Abdo showed up in a black sequined belly dancing dress with a heart-shaped cutout at the chest (subtlety was never the assignment). Nabila channeled high-glam Barbie in a pink sequined gown with chiffon sleeves and a matching red lip. Haifa Wehbe, Basma & Mervat Amin | Cairo Opera House (2007) A satin-heavy serve at the Cairo Opera House premiere of Morgan Ahmed Morgan, this trio gave three distinct takes on screen siren dressing. Basma wore an orange halter gown printed with palm leaves, serving effortless early-2000s resort glam. Haifa looked straight off a Bratz runway in a hot pink satin dress with a sweetheart neckline and her jet-black hair perfectly coiffed. Mervat Amin kept it soft in a floral satin slip-style dress, proving she didn't need volume to make a statement. Omar Sharif & Barbra Streisand | Funny Girl Promo (1968) During the Funny Girl promo run in 1968, Omar Sharif and Barbra Streisand looked like they'd just invented airport fashion. Yousra paired a pink lace dress with an orange belt and a turquoise flower, mixing colours like only she can. Fairuz & Mireille Mathieu | Dinner at Maxim's, Paris (1975) Fairuz in a black fur coat and oversized sunnies, Mireille in all white with her razor-sharp pageboy that yells 'Clair, it's French!' Warda, Umm Kulthum, & Sherihan Warda in a tailored powersuit, Umm Kulthum in timeless black. Sherihan stood next to them in cascading curls and a sequined bodycon dress. Nancy Ajram & Haifa Wehbe | (2007) Nancy wore the kind of top you save to your Pinterest board and then spend a lifetime trying to find. Off-shoulder but long-sleeved, paired with leggings and that early-2000s glow. Haifa matched the energy in black leggings, a blue satin slip top, and a blazer — an outfit that could conquer a business meeting, a date, or a dance floor without blinking.
