Prince William 'goes into dad mode' as he issues order to Prince Louis
In a new Channel 5 documentary, a forensic lip reader weighed in on a sweet family moment captured at Trooping the Colour, one that saw William go into "dad mode" Prince William went into "dad mode" as he issued an instruction to his children at the King's official birthday celebrations, it has been claimed. In a new Channel 5 documentary, Lip-Reading The Royals: The Secret Conversations, which aired last night, a forensic lip reader weighed in on a sweet family moment captured at Trooping the Colour last year. On Saturday, June 14, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, joined King Charles and Queen Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch a flypast by the Red Arrows. However, Lip reader Nicola Hickling detailed how last year, William issued a fatherly instruction to his children as they watched the spectacle. Yet, it seems that George was struck by something a bit closer to Earth. According to Nicola, William tells his children: "Eyes up to the sky." After this, all three of them look up, and then George turns to his father and says: "The crowd is so loud." She added that a gesture made by Louis was him telling his family that he'd seen a propeller, with George responding by asking: "Where?" Afterwards, Kate asked her youngest: 'Wow, did you enjoy that?" Cristo Foufas, a royal analyst, said: "Kate and William immediately go into mum and dad mode then. 'Can you see it? Oh, they're coming around again', you know, 'Did you enjoy it?' All of those sorts of things they're saying to make it a special moment for their children." He claimed that the couple must have seen a "million flypasts" and that the displays were likely as "dull as ditch water" to them by now, but William and Kate weren't "letting that get to them". Cristo added that the future King and Queen were "making themselves enthusiastic" about it and attempting to make the proceedings "really special" for their children. Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the UK sovereign for more than 260 years. Each year, more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians unite for the proceedings. During this year's event, which featured the usual pageantry, Charles and Camilla rode in a carriage as part of a military procession down the Mall and into Horse Guards Parade, reports the BBC. At the request of Charles, the Royals wore black armbands as a mark of respect to the victims of the Air India crash, which tragically led to the deaths of 241 passengers and crew and at least eight people on the ground. For 2025, the Red Arrows used a greener fuel, which included a sustainable aviation fuel and a biofuel that delivered the iconic trail. The broadcaster also suggested that this would have likely gone down well with Charles, a passionate environmental advocate.

Kate Middleton 'snubbed Queen Camilla's stern pep talk' at Trooping the Colour
Kate Middleton did not want to get involved, according to one expert. Trooping the Colour took place at the weekend, with royal fans delighted to see Kate Middleton back in the fold for the annual event. The Princess of Wales was forced to miss last year's ceremony to celebrate King Charles' 76th birthday as she focused on her recovery from cancer. On November 14 each year, King Charles marks his birthday privately, but each year in June he marks his "official" birthday with the military spectacle where the most prestigious regiments in the British Army honour the monarch by parading for the special day. Kate was back to join in the celebrations on Saturday as she continues to return to official royal working life. She was cheered along with her children, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis, as they followed the King and Queen in a carriage and made their way from Buckingham Palace, down the Mall, to Horse Guards Parade. It was a full house for 'the Firm' as Kate and her children were joined by Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, who followed the procession on horseback, as delighted crowds looked on. A couple of years back, Kate reportedly made a swift head-turning gesture to Queen Camilla during the historical event, according to a body language expert, as we previously reported. The monarch appeared to struggle as the horse he was riding that year became excitable, and according to body language expert Judi James, Camilla was on the sidelines to try and provide support. However, the princess steered clear. She explained: "Trooping the Colour might have been slightly marred by the rather frisky horse that Charles seemed to be struggling with and which meant he rarely achieved the same kind of formal mounted pose that his son and siblings achieved riding behind him to the parade ground. "While William and Edward sat bolt upright on their very calm horses, with right arms rigid at their sides, Charles frequently needed two hands on the reins and a series of pats that increased in intensity as his horse needed steering and correcting throughout the ride to the parade ground. "The King seemed to be complaining again to Camilla once he arrived beside the rostrum where she was standing, meaning instead of offering a smile of pride and support her body language suggested she was giving a rather stern-looking pep-talk than involved frowning and some firm-looking head baton nods. "Kate took one glance at the conversation and turned her head away, clearly not wanting to get involved." That same year, Judi also noted a change with William and Kate's cheeky son Prince Louis but said he still remained his excitable self thanks to his mum. She explained: "With Louis now dressed exactly like George, it is obvious that his behaviour is also getting more grown-up and less playful but there were several signs that, with the encouragement of Kate, he is still enjoying his royal events and getting excited by everything going on around him. "He strode out first when he and his siblings walked from their carriage on the parade ground and when he was in the carriage he got a beam from Kate as he mimed drumming while the band played. "On the balcony, he turned to chat to his parents but his enthusiasm for the Red Arrows was obvious from his impatience signal as he waited for them to arrive, rolling his hands into fists and punching them together. "With this slimmed-down monarchy, there was more of a less formal, family feel to the balcony group. Camilla was chatting to Charles as they walked out and Charlotte had to squeeze out behind her grandfather, followed by an equally squeezing-through Kate. "Sophie and Edward chatted to Charles and Camilla, with Sophie making her husband laugh as she mimed how close two of the planes had flown and Charles chatted frequently to William, with the pair showing signs of a new, more easy-going bonding." This year, another sweet moment was picked up by a lip reader, when Charlotte could be seen chatting to her mum as they made their way to the celebrations. According to professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman, Princess Charlotte said: "Who is it?" asking about a person in the crowd, Kate then replied and Charlotte then appeared to say: "Oh brilliant" before the mother and daughter giggled together. Meanwhile, a fresh update on Kate's health was provided today, as it was announced she was pulling out of Royal Ascot at the last minute. Spectators were hoping to catch a glimpse of Kate as William was named as one of the figures awarding race prizes during the second day of the meet. Kate's name had also been included in the official programme as taking part in today's carriage procession in the second carriage alongside William. But soon after Kensington Palace confirmed she would not be there. It is understood she is trying to find the "right balance" as she fully returns to public-facing engagements. More info Prince Louis displayed a significant change at Saturday's Trooping the Colour, but still had his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to guide him, an expert has said. The seven year-old, who has consistently delighted crowds at major events with his cheeky personality, was back charming royal enthusiasts. He was spotted sweetly waving during the carriage ride with his mother Kate and his siblings, as well as flashing a toothless smile. He was also seen giggling with his older brother George and giving a lingering wave to the crowd as the royal family departed from the Buckingham Palace balcony. READ MORE - Kate Middleton's 'firm' command to Prince Louis on palace balcony exposed While captivating spectators, body language expert Judi James believes he offered a peek into his potential future. She told the Mirror: "Prince Louis's body language on the balcony suggested he's grown from the playful member of the royal firm into a fully fledged plane-spotter. "He appeared more focused than fidgety, observing each aircraft as they flew overhead before turning to his dad in what seemed like an attempt to identify them. (Image: PA) (Image: Samir Hussein/WireImage) (Image: Getty Images) "The enthusiastic nods from William and the proud smiles from Kate suggested he was correct with all of them, too. With a father and grandfather both pilots, there are indications this might be a future career for Louis.", reports the Mirror. "He is also a very confident-looking young royal too. Charles nudged him to chat and Louis was the one lingering longest to wave to the crowds, only turning to go in when Charlotte ushered him." During the iconic balcony moment, Royal family members were spotted engaging in conversation as aircraft soared above the palace. Onlookers lining The Mall erupted into cheers as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team – the Red Arrows – streaked across the sky, leaving behind vibrant trails of red, white, and blue smoke. The team utilised a mix of sustainable aviation fuel and standard jet fuel for their engines, while a renewable biofuel was used to create the colourful smoke trails. The royals gave one final wave to the crowd before retreating back into the Palace. In other news, Kate resumed her significant role at Trooping the Colour today, joining the King and Queen. As Colonel of the Irish Guards, she took her place on the dais with the King and Queen to observe the impressive military parade at Horse Guards Parade. Last year, she watched the display from the Major General's office with her children, marking her return to duty following the commencement of her cancer treatment. Today, Kate arrived at Horse Guards Parade in an Ascot Landau carriage, accompanied by her three children. She looked stunning in a turquoise Catherine Walker coat dress, a hat by Juliette Botterill, her Irish Guards Regimental brooch, and a pair of earrings that once belonged to the late Queen, before taking her seat on the parade ground. At last year's Trooping the Colour, Kate made a triumphant return, making her first official public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis.
